Strictly Come Dancing gets more eco-friendly

‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestants must share cabs due to new rules drawn up by producers.
Programme bosses are moving to make the show more eco-friendly so have asked the celebrities, professional dancers and crew members to take taxi together, and where possible, they have been told to book hybrid low-emission cars to cut their carbon footprint.
A show source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: "Every part of the production process has been looked at and tweaked, even how stars get to and from the studio."
The measures will also see the hopefuls asked to bring reusable cups for their fair trade tea or coffee to cut down on waste, while biodegradable wipes will be used to remove make-up without blocking sewers.
Studio engineers have been asked to dim the lights while setting up the production to save energy and any hotels needed throughout the series must have green certification.
Design work will be carried out with sustainable materials, while those involved in other areas of the show have been warned to only print pages where "essential", to use both sides of the paper and immediately recycle any waste.
More recycling bins have been installed and food will have biodegradable packaging. All laptops must be turned off overnight and rechargable batteries are preferred.
The BBC have confirmed the changes include a ban on single use plastic and special effects products for the show are now "95 per cent biodegradable".
