Keira Knightley never got an invite to her prom.
The 'Begin Again' actress had to attend her high school dance with a girlfriend because no boys asked her to be their date.
Talking to the Huffington Post, Keira explained: "We don't really have proms in England, not in the American way. So I actually turned up late and went with one of my best girl friends, because nobody asked either of us to prom. We were each other's dates, which was fun.
"She's great, she's one of my best mates still. We had a lovely time and we didn't care that nobody had asked us, we asked each other."
The 29-year-old screen beauty also admitted that she "hated" being a teenager so it was particularly interesting for her to play her character Megan in her new film 'Laggies', because her alter ego desperately wants to cling onto her youth.
Keira said: "It's a funny thing really because I hated being a teenager and I was never really interested in doing teenage films. I always just wanted to be out of that whole period of my life.
"So I sort of liked playing somebody who had a completely different experience, who absolutely loved it and identified with that part of their life as being the period."
Keira stars in 'Laggies' with Chloë Grace Moretz and
Sam Rockwell.

Daniel Radcliffe has never been on The Making of Harry Potter tour.
The 25-year-old actor is yet to visit the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in Watford, Hertfordshire, South East England, despite being the main star of the eponymous franchise.
The 'Horns' star - who plays the boy wizard in eight films based on the books by J.K. Rowling - has avoided the attraction because he is worried his presence would cause a "commotion".
During an appearance on 'The Jonathan Ross Show', which airs on ITV tomorrow (25.10.14), he said: "There's never been a good time for me to go back when it wouldn't cause some commotion or something but ... Hopefully I'll get to do a movie there and then just slip in ... It's amazing how little disguises help and then how ridiculous you feel once you've been found in a disguise."
Daniel - who worked on the films from the age of 11 to 22 - insists starring in the global phenomenon isn't his proudest achievement and claims learning to dance is top of his list.
The actor - who recently starred in 'The Cripple of Inishmaan' at the Cort Theatre on Broadway in New York - explained: "I was the blankest canvas my dance teacher had ever seen... he taught me to dance, I owe it all to him.
"I don't boast about stuff generally speaking - it's not really me - but learning to dance on Broadway and dancing in a Broadway show is probably the thing I'm absolutely proudest of."

Jourdan Dunn has admitted she got a reality check when her son was diagnosed with sickle cell anaemia.
The 24-year-old model's four-year-old child Riley was born with the condition - in which there aren't enough healthy red blood cells in the body to carry adequate oxygen - but she was shocked when doctors discovered he had the disease when he was just six-months-old.
She told Vogue magazine: "I knew there was a possibility that I was carrying a sickle cell baby because both his dad and I have the trait. But of course, I always had it in my head, 'No, not my baby. That's not going to happen to me.' "
Jourdan designed a Cell for Gratitude necklace with brand Tuleste to raise funds for the charity SCDAA (Sickle Cell Disease Association of America) and recently threw a star-studded party at New York Fashion Week to raise awareness, where guests included her close pals Cara Delevingne, Rihanna and Karlie Kloss.
She said: "I was so overwhelmed by it all. Before a model, I am a mother. Now, I do my job for Riley."

Naomi Campbell is convinced the Ebola virus is a plague sent by God.
The supermodel - who is organising two charity fashion shows in aid of victims of the deadly disease - is "terrified" of catching the illness and is convinced the epidemic was predicted in the Christian Bible.
She said: "I'm terrified. It was written in the Bible, it was in the Bible there was going to be a plague and this is it, I think this is it."
And the 44-year-old British star is taking special precautions to minimise her chances of being stricken with the virus when she travels for her fashion work.
During her appearance on 'Celebrity Gogglebox', she said: "I want a space suit, do you think we can go to NASA and buy a space suit? It's scary s**t"
"I don't care what people laugh at, I went on a plane the other day and I wore my two masks, I've got to feel protected, I don't give a damn. I got my Clorox bleach and my rubber gloves and I sprayed down my seat and that's what I'm going to do on every flight from now on."
When Noel Gallagher asked, "Are you seriously telling me you went on a plane with bleach and two f***ing masks?", she replied, "Yes, one over my nose and one over my mouth. I had my latex gloves, sprayed down the seat, cleaned it down."
Her friend Kate Moss then mocked her, laughing: "And then when an air hostess came over, she was like, 'No, don't come near me.' "

Kim Kardashian West's new book features "2,000 selfies".
The reality TV star has revealed the much-anticipated book, 'Selfish' - which is set for a pre-Christmas release - was the brainchild of husband Kanye West and the 352 pages contain thousands of her self-captured photos.
Kim, 34, explained to the Evening Standard Magazine: "Kanye came up with the concept and the name and everything.
"He introduced me to the book publisher. And I was like, 'This is such a good idea, I can't believe I didn't think of it.' It's 352 pages and multiples on the page, so I turned in probably 2,000 selfies."
Kim - who married 37-year-old Kanye in May this year - has refuted accusations the tome is nothing but a vanity project for her, insisting it is a catalogue of her life and a reflection of the modern world.
The 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star added: "I've been taking selfies for a long time - it's like now [seen as] such a vain thing, but it really started off with me just having a camera around to capture memories. They're selfies taken over a decade."
Kim - who gave birth to daughter North in June 2013 - has also given her top tips on how to take the best selfie possible.
She explained: "Lighting is key. I think a lot of people take a lot of selfies before they actually post one. So, in the book you'll definitely see ... like I posted this one selfie of myself in a white bathing suit, after I had the baby ... it was kind of like from the back in the mirror... and I took about 10 shots to get that one. So I'm probably going to put all ten in there."

Rupert Grint says Shia LaBeouf "got naked and kept seeing this owl" on the set of their new film.
The 'Harry Potter' actor has confessed his 'The Necessary Death of Charlie Countryman' co-star took his preparation for the role very seriously, resulting in him "smashing up" the set and behaving erratically.
Quizzed on whether Shia, 28, did lots of mad things on the set of the film - for which he admitted to taking acid for scenes in which his character takes ecstasy - Rupert said: "Er, yeah. Yeah, he did. I guess you'd call him a method actor. He kind of lived that part.
"It was ... interesting. I think he's talked about it a bit himself. Things happened which I probably shouldn't go into.
"He smashed the place up, got naked and kept seeing this owl. If anything will make you not do drugs, it's watching that."
The 26-year-old actor admitted, however, that Shia's character wasn't the only one to be involved in strange scenes in the upcoming film.
He explained to The Guardian newspaper: "I'm a wannabe porn star called Boris Pecker. My main plot is I take too much Viagra and require medical assistance. So it's me running around with a strap-on."
Meanwhile, Rupert has also revealed he's bought a pet tortoise named Madeline to help him get over his homesickness since moving to New York.
He said: "I named him before I found out his gender. You don't really need to do anything with him. He doesn't even need water that often. Doesn't like to be touched either."

Katie Price is "pleased" her husband Kieran Hayler cheated on her with two different women.
Kieran was involved in affairs with Katie's former best friend Jane Pountney and her pal Chrissy Thomas, and although his cheating left her devastated Katie believes the fact he had liaisons with two different lovers proves the relationships were "meaningless" to him and proof of his sex addiction.
Appearing as a guest panellist on TV show 'Loose Women' today (24.10.14), Katie, 36, said: "I'm so pleased he did it with two of my friends - I know that sounds really weird - because if it was just one, then he was focused on her. But the fact he did it with another one - and she was ugly as well - it wasn't just focused on one. It was meaningless, because it wasn't just one woman he was with."
The mother-of-five admitted she contemplated divorcing Kieran after discovering his affairs, but decided to give him a second chance after he sought out professional help for his sex addiction.
Katie - who has 14-month-old son Jett and two-month-old daughter Bunny with Kieran - explained: "I'm an adult and I thought about it, and I've chosen to stick by Kieran and move on.
"It's been really hard. I mean, what people have read ... it's actually been a lot worse behind the scenes, what's gone on. But there are reasons why I've stayed with him. He's in therapy, he's had rehab, and it's ongoing for him. He's now realising how bad it is. Someone [can have] a drug addiction, or an alcohol addiction, and someone can have a sex addiction ... It was about the adrenaline buzz for him."
