The 'Fury' actor spent five days sitting in a Los Angeles gallery in silence with a paper bag on his head, with members of the public invited to choose an item from a selection on a table and sit with him for a while, and the 28-year-old-actor says one encounter was extremely unpleasant.
He said: "One woman who came with her boyfriend, who was outside the door when this happened, whipped my legs for ten minutes and then stripped my clothing and proceeded to rape me
"There were hundreds of people in line when she walked out with disheveled hair and smudged lipstick. It was no good, not just for me but her man as well."
And the 'Nymphomaniac' star says the experience was particularly "painful" because his girlfriend Mia Goth, 21, was outside waiting to see him - and he couldn't discuss what had happened with her because of the nature of the #IAMSORRY installation.
He added in an email to a Dazed and Confused magazine writer: "On top of that my girl was in line to see me, because it was Valentine's Day and I was living in the gallery for the duration of the event -- we were separated for five days, no communication.
"So it really hurt her as well, as I guess the news of it traveled through the line.
"When she came in she asked for an explanation, and I couldn't speak, so we both sat with this unexplained trauma silently. It was painful."

Jessie J is "not in love" with Luke James.
The 'Bang Bang' hitmaker recently went public with her new romance, and though she is smitten with the US singer, she is still "learning" to figure out her feelings and fall harder for him.
She said: "Am I in love right now? I'm working on being in love.
"That's the truth. I don't want to sound mean. But I'm not in love...yet. I'm learning how to fall in love.
"Being in love is when you can be yourself as if you were on your own, but they're there."
Despite her cautiousness, the 26-year-old singer admitted she can see herself settling down with her "amazing" boyfriend.
Asked whether Luke, 30, could be her happily ever after, she told the forthcoming issue of Britain's Glamour magazine: "Maybe. Why not? I'm nearly 27.
"I'm at a point in my life where anyone I'm allowing to give that part of myself to, I want to give the chance for it to be forever. And he's really amazing."
Looking further ahead, the 'Thunder' singer is keen to marry and have children, and also has a number of professional goals she wants to achieve.
She explained: "I want to do charity stuff, a line of perfume, another book. I'd like to write an inspirational book, an acoustic album, have kids, and get married.
"I want to buy my mum and dad a house outright; I want to buy my sisters' houses outright. I'm nearly 27 and I'm nowhere near done. I feel like I've only just got my foot in the door. "

Anna Kendrick is looking at the positives following the recent hacking of her nude photos.
The 'Pitch Perfect' star - whose naked pictures were posted online by hackers earlier this year alongside other stars like Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton - is glad the episode encouraged people not to blame those who were victims.
She said: "I'm happy that it seems like more people are coming around. Because it happened en masse in that way, it forced people to come around and go, 'Everybody does this and victim-blaming is not helping.'
"Because before that, there was a lot of, "If you didn't want naked photos of yourself on the Internet, well, you shouldn't have taken them."
The 29-year-old actress has admitted that even her friends had changed their views, after realising how many celebrities had their personal photographs hacked.
She explained to The Daily Beast: "So, the one and only good thing that came out of it is that it really shifted the conversation.
"Friends of mine that had taken the other attitude were like, 'People should be able to do whatever they want, and it's f***ed up that that happened to them.' That's the lone positive that came out of that whole thing."

Reese Witherspoon's daughter is uncomfortable with her mother's nude scenes.
The 38-year-old actress has to appear naked in her new movie, 'Wild', which her 15-year-old daughter, Ava, finds "weird".
Reese explained: "Ava's 15 and there are parts in the film that I had to explain to her. I told her, 'I'm naked in the movie...' and she was like, 'Mom, that's so weird!'
"I said, 'I had to be brave Ava, and I couldn't just tell the parts I was comfortable with, because Cheryl was brave to tell her whole story, so I had to tell even the parts that I was scared to do'."

Mindy Kaling was mistaken for a Nobel prize winner.
The 'Mindy Project' star has revealed how someone at a party mistook her for the Nobel Peace prize winner, 17-year-old Malala Yousafzai.
She explained: "I was recently in New York City, at kind of a clubby, New York City party at the Boom Boom Room ...
"I was looking around, I was like, 'Oh this is going to be fun. Alcohol was flowing, I looked hot... as I always do at these events.
"This kind of like, elderly man came over to me, and was like, 'Oh my god! I'm such a big fan!' I was like, 'Oh, thank you!' And he's like, 'Malala, you're so amazing.' He thought I was the 17-year-old Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala."
The 35-year-old actress admitted that she was initially a bit offended by the mistake, but soon found it incredibly flattering.
She said: "It was so interesting to me from so many different ways. On one, I thought, it's a little racial that he thought I was [her], but then it's like, she won a Nobel Prize! I'll take that. I do pretty well but that's like, way better.
"She's 17, I'm twice her age. So it was pretty good."
Mindy also admitted she never revealed her true identity to the man.

Taylor Swift doesn't have any plans for her 25th birthday.
The 'Blank Space' hitmaker - who will be celebrating on December 13th - has admitted that she's been so busy promoting her album, '1989', that she hasn't had time to think about what to do.
Speaking on 'Live With Kelly and Michael', she said: "It's kind of weird, like, when you're so excited about something, like, I was so geared up for the album launch and so excited about it. It was two years in the making.
"So, in my mind, I was like, 'Birthdays happen every year, like, album launches only happen every few years,' so I went and did that and I'm still on this promotion tour. And so, it's so far back on my list of priorities that I'm turning 25."
Meanwhile, the 24-year-old singer recently admitted that her goal for '1989' was for it to reflect her life more.
She explained previously: "That was a huge goal for this album, [which] was to make songs that were instantly catchy. [And] also have meaning behind them.
"But I really wanted these songs to really kind of bounce out of the speakers ... For my own albums, it's all autobiographical because I think it's much more interesting for me to tell a true story than a story I kind of conjured up."

Melissa Rivers will hold a Thanksgiving dinner in honour of her late mother.
The 46-year-old actress - who lost her mother, Joan Rivers, in August this year after the 81-year-old stopped breathing whilst undergoing a minor throat operation - is expected to welcome a group of friends to the star's apartment in New York tonight (27.11.14).
A source revealed to the New York Post's Page Six column: "Melissa is hosting the dinner in honour of Joan, and to continue a tradition she did every year. Joan would welcome her friends, relatives and anyone who might not have family members in New York to a Thanksgiving dinner at her home.
"Her table seats 50 people, and each year everyone had to stand up and tell the table what they were thankful for. This year, it will be sad without Joan, but Melissa wants the occasion to be a happy one, to remember her mother and everything she did for other people."
The 5,000 square foot apartment in the Upper East Side area of the city reportedly has gold pillars, gold-lined walls and huge chandeliers.
Meanwhile, Melissa has shared a throwback photo of her and Joan on the star's Twitter.
Alongside the photo, she wrote: "I finally figured out my mom's password. HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Xo Melissa. (sic)"
