Man charged with trespassing Buckingham Palace

A man has been charged with trespassing after being caught allegedly wandering the grounds of Buckingham Palace.
Victor Miller, 37, was arrested by police last September when he was caught inside the London residence of Queen Elizabeth after allegedly climbing over a fence to get in just before midnight.
Miller, who is unemployed and comes from east London, has been bailed and is expected to appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court in London, on March 4.
Officers also arrested a second man, 38, as he was caught just outside the grounds around the same time, but he was released on bail and no further action has been taken since.
Last month, David Belmar, 44, was jailed for 16 months after he tried to get into the royal estate, while carrying a knife, back in October.
At the hearing in January, he claimed he carried out the crime because he was feeling "frustrated and desperate" over his incapacity benefit being cut.
Belmar - who had admitted trespass and possession of a knife at a previous hearing - suffered paranoid schizophrenia since 2002 but was on medication for the condition, and Judge Michael Gledhill QC said at the trial it had "absolutely nothing to do" with the offences.

Prince George to tour Australia

Britain's Prince George is to tour Australia.
General Peter Cosgrove accidentally let slip that the eight-month-old tot will definitely be joining his mother and father, the duke and duchess of Cambridge, on their trip Down Under in April.
Speaking to Australian press, he said: "That's going to be a very welcome visit.
"They'll bring with them Prince George, the little one.
"They'll be in Sydney and then in Canberra after their sojourn in New Zealand.
"There's sort of an arm's distance hosting in the sense that we want them to be able to relax, so the idea would be to greet them, settle them in - but very briefly - and then leave them to enjoy the delights of Sydney."
The royal couple - who married in 2011 - had remained tight-lipped about whether their son would be joining them on the trip and were expected to announce the news nearer the time.
After General Cosgrove realised he may have said something he shouldn't have, he quickly added: "I hope he's [George] coming.
"I don't know - I'm not yet the governor-general.
"I think every Aussie who likes the idea of royal couples having their children with them on tour will hope that's the case, but let's wait and see."
Past generations of the royal family, including Queen Elizabeth, have always left their children at home with aides, but the tradition was broken when Prince Charles and his late wife Princess Diana took William with them to Australia in March 1983 when he was just nine months old.

Earl and Countess take private jet to St Mortiz

Britain's Earl and Countess of Wessex took a private jet to St Mortiz.
The royal couple - who married in 1999 - and their two children Lady Louise,10, and James, six, flew to Switzerland earlier this week for a family ski trip, but decided against a low budget airline.
The royal family have been urged to use scheduled flights to reduce their carbon footprint and save money, but it is believed Prince Edward, 49, Sophie, 49, and their children were the only passengers on-board the plane, apart from two assistants.
It is not known who paid for the ski trip.
However, in 2002, Queen Elizabeth paid her son Edward and Sophie £250,000 to quit their careers to help her and her husband Prince Philip with their royal duties by attending more charity events.
Meanwhile, Prince William and his wife Duchess Catherine - who have eight-month-old son Prince George - took an EasyJet flight to the French Alps during their week-long ski trip in 2012.
The royal couple - who got married in 2011 - were then escorted off the plane, before driving back to their cottage in Wales in a swanky Range Rover.

Prince Charles joins sword dance in Saudi Arabia

Britain's Prince Charles joined a sword dance in Saudi Arabia last night (18.02.14).
The 65-year-old royal took part a ceremony which celebrated Arabic culture, dressed in traditional clothing, alongside the country's royal family and took part in an ardah - known as a sword dance - at a stadium in the capital, Riyadh.
This was part of the annual 17-day Janadriyah Festival and Charles' host was Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz, second deputy prime minister.
Sir John Jenkins, the UK's ambassador to Saudi Arabia, previously said: "Our two kingdoms share a long friendship, going back to the foundation of the modern Saudi state. Continuity of personal relationships, essential if we are to understand each other better, have been central to this."
The royal family share a strong bond with many of the Middle Eastern countries that are ruled by the Arab royalty.
Nick Hopton, the UK's ambassador to Qatar, said: "I am delighted that His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales is to visit Qatar again. This is an opportunity to showcase the strong ties between the UK and Qatar, which we value greatly."

Prince William’s friend in nightclub fight

A friend of Britain's Duke and Duchess of Cambridge has allegedly been involved in a nightclub brawl.
Till Bechtolsheimer - who knows the royal couple through his sister Olympic gold medallist Laura Bechtolsheimer - got into an altercation after he was accidentally pushed by fellow clubber Daniel Kurkowski at the Dream Hotel in New York City last month.
Till's girlfriend Julia Kadioglu reportedly made matters worse as she smashed a bottle of lager over Daniel's head after the fight broke out, which left him with a nasty cut.
Julia - who graduated from St Andrews University at the same time as Prince William and Duchess Catherine - was reportedly escorted out of the swanky premises in handcuffs.
However, she was later released without bail after her arraignment in Manhattan Criminal Court.
Her lawyer Benjamin Yu told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "My client insists on her innocence. She's indignant she was even arrested."
Till is the grandson of billionaire real-estate baron Karl-Heinz Kipp and the royal couple - who have seven-month-old son Prince George - are close friends with the Kipp family.
Last year, Prince William, 31, and Duchess Catherine, 32, attended the wedding of Laura and her beau Mark Tomlinson, which took place at the Swiss Alps in Switzerland.

Duchess Catherine becomes godmother

Britain's Duchess of Cambridge has become a godmother.
The 32-year-old royal has taken motherhood in her stride since giving birth to her son Prince George seven months ago, and now she's been chosen by a close friend to be a godparent to their child.
The brunette beauty was given the official title on Sunday (16.02.14) when she attended the baptism service with her husband Prince William and their son George at the St Barnabas Church in Mayland, Chelmsford, in Essex, South East England.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, reverend Ken Dunstan said: "I think my usual congregation were surprised at who was joining us. I don't normally pay a huge amount of attention to godparents as long as the godparents are there and willing to make the appropriate promises."
He added: "She was there as a godparent not as a princess."
It is believed Catherine - who was known as Kate Middleton before she married William in 2011 - knew the parents from university.
Reverend Ken explained: "The couple said they wanted four godparents but weren't quite sure whether one would be available.
"Then later the father rang me to say the other godmother is available, it's a friend from uni. Then he told me who it was.
"I got the impression that a number of the congregation had been to the same university."
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also chose one of their pals from university Oliver Baker to be Prince George's godfather.

Duchess Camilla wasn’t a good artist

Britain's Duchess Camilla admits she's not a very good artist.
The 66-year-old royal visited the Pound Arts Centre in Wiltshire, South West England, earlier this week and joked she was so bad at art when she was younger that she ripped up her paintings.
She said: "My husband's a very good watercolourist - he's very good and I'm very bad. I was always tearing mine up".
The duchess was given a tour of the centre, which offers a range of things from children's drama club to piano lessons, film screenings, exhibitions, and studios for artists starting their careers.
She then met a group of women painters, who meet every week, before noticing that Jehanne Le Quesne was looking a bit disheartened because she had nothing to show her.
Jehanne said: "I've thrown it away."
Camilla replied: "I know that feeling."
During the visit, Camilla - who officially opened the centre seven years ago - sat in on a story session with a group of under five year olds, who were discussing the sea.
David Jones, chairman of the centre's trustees, told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: "We're thrilled she has come back. It's nice for her to see what else we've done here over those seven years.
"It's good to have that interest from the Duchess of Cornwall, it creates a really nice buzz around the place."

Queen keeps BAFTA on TV

Britain's Queen Elizabeth keeps her BAFTA award on her television.
The 87-year-old royal - who was given the honourable prize last year for supporting the film industry - told '12 Years A Slave' director Steve McQueen at the Buckingham Palace gala on Monday (17.02.14) where she proudly displays her polished gong.
According to The Sun newspaper, she told McQueen - whose film was named Best Film at the BAFTA awards on Sunday (16.02.14) - "I couldn't help but look at mine, which I keep on the television."
The monarch teamed up with Duchess Catherine, 32, to put on a star-studded reception in honour of The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA) at the beginning of the week, which saw Dame Helen Mirren, Sir David Attenborough, Cate Blanchett and Benedict Cumberbatch in attendance.
Dame Helen - who has played the monarch on-screen and on-stage in the past - impressed the Queen with her recited speech from Shakespeare's 'The Tempest'.
The 68-year-old actress said on Monday: "I am genuinely always astounded by her aura, her twinkle, her presence. It never fails to surprise me and again it's what everyone says when they meet her -- it was what overwhelmed me the first time I met her."
