Queen Elizabeth advising Duchess Catherine ahead of historic visit

Britain's Queen Elizabeth has been giving Duchess Catherine advice about her royal visit to Australia and New Zealand.
The monarch has reportedly taken the 32-year-old duchess "under her wing" in order to prepare her for the historic visit to the Commonwealth countries in April.
A palace source told the Sunday Express newspaper: "The Queen regards Catherine as the perfect partner for William and she thinks they are a great team. She doesn't want to see a repeat of Charles and Diana when they toured Australia and the crowds were only interested in meeting Diana.
"Most importantly, the Queen can pass on her knowledge of the countries, their cultures, histories and the dos and don'ts of what to say and not say."
Aside from sharing her pearls of wisdom, the 87-year-old ruler is said to have given Catherine - who has seven-month-old son Prince George with Prince William - access to her royal jewellery box for the three-week trip.
This comes after the Queen loaned her the Nizam of Hyderabad diamond necklace, which was a wedding gift in 1947, for her appearance at the National Portrait Gallery earlier this month.
Elizabeth is also said to have advised the mother-of-one to have small weights sewn into her dress hems to prevent future "Marilyn Monroe" moments in strong winds.

Prince Harry’s SAS regrets

Britain's Prince Harry regrets not being able to try out for the SAS.
The 29-year-old royal has reportedly told friends he would "have loved to have had a crack at SAS selection", but knew his dream job serving with the Special Air Service forces would never work out due to his status.
According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, Harry told one pal: "Unfortunately for me that was never going to happen - my face is just too well known."
The redhead has been fascinated by the SAS since visiting the regiment as a child with his late mother Princess Diana, and still makes regular trips to their base in Hereford.
Harry stepped down from his role as an Apache helicopter pilot in January after completing his duties with the Britain's Army Air Corps, in order to take up a Staff Officer role in London.
Despite describing the SAS as his "dream job", one senior Army officer told the paper it was unlikely to have worked out for the prince.
He said: "The reality is that if Harry joined the SAS he would never be able to take part in military operations.
"He is too well known. It would be a case that if Harry appeared, whose face has global recognition, you would know the SAS were about. [But] Harry has all the attributes to serve in the SAS."

Queen living in most polluted street

Britain's Queen Elizabeth is living in the most polluted street in the UK.
According to new figures, Grosvenor Place, which sits behind the 87-year-old monarch's home, Buckingham Palace, is surrounded by some of the most polluted roads in Britain.
They have the highest levels of nitrogen dioxide, a toxic gas which comes mostly from traffic fumes, and the air outside the palace was found to be almost four times the European legal limit.
Alan Andrews, a lawyer with the environmental group Client Earth, told The Sunday Times newspaper: "Her Majesty came to the throne in the same year as London was engulfed by the great smog [1952], 60 years later air pollution is still killing thousands of her subjects each year."
The figures were released by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and show some of London's top attractions are also affected by some of the country's most polluted roads, including areas near Madame Tussauds.
Simon Birkett, director of Clean Air in London, said: "The thought that hundreds of thousands or millions of tourists and Londoners in a year may be exposed to air pollution this high is deeply troubling."
A spokesperson for Boris Johnson, the mayor of London, claims since his election in 2008, the amount of people living in areas where nitrogen dioxide levels are above legal limits has halved.

Cressida Bonas prefers fuss free look

Cressida Bonas doesn't want to look like she gets her hair done professionally.
The blonde beauty - who is dating Britain's Prince Harry - is a regular at RealHair salon on Cale Street in London's Chelsea and although she pays $250 for a quick cut and blow dry, she would rather go for a low-key look.
A source told vanityfair.com: "When Cressida comes in she says 'I want it blown out, but I don't want it to look like I got it done.'"
Cressida is "pretty laid back" about her style and prefers to embrace a casual look.
A source added: "Cressida is all about low maintenance and looking stylish with minimal effort.
"She likes to be low-key and she is pretty laid back when it comes to her appearance. Kate is meticulous about her hair and makeup, but Cressida just sticks on a beanie hat and maybe a bit of lip balm."
Her relationship with Harry seems to be going well since the young royal is believed to have given her free-rein of Buckingham Palace by allowing her to enter the palace grounds without being searched.
A source previously said: "Cressida has been staying with Harry pretty much every night for the last few weeks. So Harry felt it was sensible that she got the security clearance to come and go as she pleases, instead of always having to enter with him.
"She's now on first name terms with all the security guards, and uses all three entrances to the palace."

Sweden’s Princess Madeleine gives birth to girl

Princess Madeleine of Sweden has given birth to a girl.
The 31-year-old royal and her husband Christopher O'Neill - whom she married last year - welcomed their first child into the world yesterday evening (20.02.14) in New York City.
Madeleine - who is fifth-in-line to the throne of Sweden - and her baby are said to be "in good health" following the birth.
Royal spokesman Svante Lindqvist announced the news last night: "The Office of the Marshal of the Realm is delighted to announce that H.R.H. Princess Madeleine gave birth to a daughter on February 20, 2014 at 10.41 pm local time New York."
The couple reside in New York - where Madeleine works for the World Childhood Foundation, a non-profit group founded by her mother, Queen Silvia - but it is expected they will return to Sweden.
Madeleine fell pregnant unexpectedly but she admitted at the time she was glad it happened that way.
She said: "It's better that way, rather than to plan everything in advance and find that nothing happens."
The princess previously admitted she and Christopher were "excited" for the birth and had been reading the famous baby book 'What To Expect When You Are Expecting' in preparation for their new arrival.

Duchess Catherine picks up Lupo’s poo

Britain's Duchess Catherine was spotted picking up dog poo.
The 32-year-old royal was forced to pick up her canine Lupo's toilet as she took him for a walk around Kensington Gardens in London with her eight-month-old son Prince George.
The duchess was kitted out in her workout gear - including Lycra trousers and a long-sleeved top - as the trio enjoyed their early morning stroll.
The duke and duchess - who got married in 2011 - are in love with their pup, but it has been reportedly other members of the royal family aren't so keen on their four-legged friend.
The fluffy pet was reportedly not invited to the Queen's Sandringham estate in Norfolk over the Christmas period after previously fighting with her precious corgis and he was forced to stay with Catherine's parents Carole and Michael Middleton.
A source said previously: "The Queen made it clear that Lupo was not on the guest list. The Duchess is especially fond of the puppy and was sad that he could not accompany them. He had to sit it out at her parents' home in Berkshire."

Cressida Bonas likes ‘low maintenance’ hair

Cressida Bonas likes to have a "low maintenance" hair style.
The 24-year-old beauty has become a fashion icon around the world since striking up a romance with Britain's Prince Harry but, when it comes to her hair do, she prefers to keep her long locks minimalistic.
A friend told Vanity Fair magazine: "Cressida is all about low maintenance and looking stylish with minimal effort. She likes to be low-key and she is pretty laid back when it comes to her appearance."
It appears the blonde stunner is very unlike Prince Harry's sister-in-law Duchess Catherine - known has Kate Middleton before she married Prince William in 2011 - as she prefers to wear no make-up.
The friend explained: "Kate is meticulous about her hair and makeup, but Cressida just sticks on a beanie hat and maybe a bit of lip balm."
Cressida is reportedly a frequent customer of RealHair salon in Chelsea, London, and, although she has top stylist and reportedly pays $250, she only has a quick cut and blow dry.
A source from the salon said: "When Cressida comes in she says, 'I want it blown out, but I don't want it to look like I got it done'."
Meanwhile, Duchess Catherine's hair has been the centre of discussion recently after Duchess Camilla - Prince Charles second wife - reportedly told her to chop of her "bedraggled" tresses.

Prince Harry gives Cressida Bonas free-rein of palace

Britain's Prince Harry has reportedly given Cressida Bonas free-rein of Buckingham Palace.
The 30-year-old royal has been dating the blonde beauty for just over a year and has now decided to take their relationship to the next level by allowing her to enter the palace grounds without being searched.
A source told Grazia magazine: "Cressida has been staying with Harry pretty much every night for the last few weeks. So Harry felt it was sensible that she got the security clearance to come and go as she pleases, instead of always having to enter with him.
"She's now on first name terms with all the security guards, and uses all three entrances to the palace."
Sources claimed last year the pair's relationship was heading for the rocks following reports of Prince Harry planning to pop the question, but friends close to Cressida, 24, insist they're loved-up.
The friend explained: "Cressida had a wobble just after Christmas. The speculation about whether they would get married had become too much and she declined an invitation to Sandringham to join the royal family on a shoot. Instead she flew to Necker Island to be with her half-sister Isabella and brother-in-law Sam Branson.
"Cressy just needed breathing space. Harry has been brilliant and understands completely. The fact she has now been given free access to the palace is all a part of his plan to ease her into royal life and prove she can still have a normal life as his girlfriend. She hasn't fully moved in yet, but she stays most nights."

Rebekah Brooks cleared of Prince William bikini photo

Rebekah Brooks has been cleared of paying for a photo of Prince William in a bikini.
The former News of the World and The Sun newspaper editor was acquitted of one count of conspiracy to commit misconduct in a public office after allegedly paying £4,000 to a public official for a picture of the royal dressed in the skimpy attire during a James Bond-themed party at Sandhurst.
The picture was never published but was reportedly part of an exclusive story titled 'Willy in a Bikini' for The Sun in September 2006 - at which time Brooks was editor - and was accompanied by a mocked-up image of Prince William in a green swimsuit.
After Brooks gave evidence in court on Thursday (20.02.14) Judge, Mr Justice Saunders said: "I have decided that there is no case for Ms Brooks to answer on count four. That is the charge relating to a picture of Prince William in a bikini.
"Whether or not there is a case to answer is for me to decide."
Prosecutor Andrew Edis QC had previously told the court that Brooks received an email asking to approve payment to a Sun journalist's contact who was offering the photo.
Meanwhile, a jury will decide whether the former newspaper editor is is guilty of four further offences relating to the phone-hacking trial.
