Prince Charles criticised for ‘Isis ceramic range’

Britain's Prince Charles has been criticised for selling an "Isis ceramic range" in his shop, Highgrove.
The unfortunately named selection of products - which features wig stands, vases and jugs - are available to purchase from the shop in Tetbury, south west England, and although they are not linked to the extremist Islamic state, have courted controversy amongst shoppers.
One visitor to the shop - from which all profits go to the Prince of Wales' Charitable Foundation - said: "I couldn't believe it. You would think they would change the name pronto."
The expensive range is in fact named after the River Thames which inspired the collection, and which is known as the Isis in Oxfordshire.
The range - created by local artist Deborah Sears - includes a £525 chimney vase lamp base and a £295 serving bowl, with all of the items featuring hand-painted images of the 66-year-old royal's Gloucestershire home, Highgrove House.
The Highgrove website reads: "Based in Oxford, where the Thames is known as the Isis, Deborah Sears, painter, designer and owner of Isis Ceramics, has been creating and painting beautiful ceramic pieces since 1988. Deborah has collected 17th-century English Delftware for many years.
"The variety of forms and functions, and the individual painting of Isis Ceramics makes each one unique, allowing everyone to create a collection that expresses their own unique sense of wit, taste and design."
The website also says each piece is a one-off product because of the way in which they have been carefully created.
It adds: "[The items are] Handpainted with designs inspired by Highgrove House and Gardens, making each piece individual."

Eddie Redmayne: Everyone tackled Prince William in rugby at school

Eddie Redmayne claims everyone wanted to tackle Britain's Prince William when playing rugby at school.
The 'Les Miserables' actor attended the prestigious boarding school Eton College in Berkshire with the Duke of Cambridge as a youngster, and recalled feeling sympathetic for him because the students all wanted to tackle him when playing the contact sport.
He explained: "We were on the same rugby team at Eton College.
"I always felt slightly sorry for him because everyone wanted to tackle the future king of England. He took all the hits."
The 33-year-old actor has previously spoken about his royal connection - with whom he was a member of elite group, the Eton Society - by admitting he didn't share his passion for music and drama.
While the handsome star was being trained as a chorister, the 32-year-old father-of-one concentrated on his studies as well as captaining his house football team and playing water polo.
He joked: "I don't think singing was his thing."
Despite their differences, Eddie - who has been tipped for Bafta Award glory for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in 'The Theory of Everything' - praised the Duchess of Cambridge's husband.
He told Glamour magazine: "He's a wonderful man."

Duchess of Cambridge ‘has adopted a more youthful look’

Britain's Duchess of Cambridge has adopted a more "youthful" look since the birth of Prince George.
The royal, who is celebrating her 33rd birthday today (01.09.15) with a quiet celebration at home, has noticeably changed her appearance since the having her first child in July 2013, according to Sam Burnett, session stylist and founder of Hare & Bone in Fitzrovia, London.
Speaking about the evolving look of the Duchess - who was known as Kate Middleton prior to her marriage to Prince William in 2011 - the expert explained: "Kate's hair is definitely timeless, classic, and accessible. Her colour is the perfect blend of natural and polished tones for ultimate wearability.
"Since welcoming Prince George, her hair is slightly longer and a little lighter on the ends, which is much more modern, effortless and rather youthful."
Celebrity hairdresser Charles Worthington agrees that the Duchess - who is currently pregnant with her second child - has changed her appearance since having Prince George.
He told the Daily Mail newspaper: "Kate has opted for more of a loose glossy wave, which is much easier to maintain. Less Hollywood glam and more Chelsea mum."

Queen Elizabeth gave racing tips to Alex Salmond

Britain's Queen Elizabeth gave the former First Minister of Scotland a tip for one of her horses.
Alex Salmond and the 88-year-old royal share a passion for horse racing, and he's revealed the Queen gave him a betting tip on one of her horses that finished first in its race.
Speaking to the Dundee Courier newspaper, the former First Minister - who used to regularly hold private audiences with the Queen - admitted she would give him racing tips, but refused to reveal how much money he won.
Salmond, 60, also hit out at Prime Minster David Cameron for revealing details of private conversations between himself and the Queen.
He said Cameron should "hang his head in shame" for disclosing that the monarch "purred" with pleasure when she was told the result of the Scottish referendum on independence.
What's more, Salmond said he would always treat his conversations with the Queen as private, despite saying during the referendum campaign that she would be "proud" to rule an independent Scotland.
Salmond resigned as First Minister in November last year, having held the position since May 2007.

Monaco welcomes newborn royals

Prince Albert of Monaco and his wife Princess Charlene have introduced their newborn twins to the people of the principality.
The couple welcomed their children, Princess Gabriella and Hereditary Prince Jacques, into the world on December 10, but were unable to introduce them to the people of Monaco because Princess Charlene and her twins had to remain in hospital after the birth.
However, the family returned home over the festive season and the couple showed their children to the watching world during an official presentation staged yesterday (07.01.15) at the Palace of Monaco.
The 36-year-old princess and her husband cradled a child each as they waved and smiled at the large crowd beneath them.
Shortly after giving birth, Princess Charlene said she is loving motherhood.
She explained: "They are growing every day, gaining weight."
And Princess Charlene said she is looking forward to watching her children grow up in the coming years.
She said: "At first, I was happy to hear their first cries. I was obviously a bit overwhelmed with emotion. Every second with them is magical. I look forward to spending more time in their presence."
"Watching them grow is wonderful. It changes lives forever."

Wild boar ‘kills Princess Anne’s award-winning pig’

A wild boar has killed an award-winning pig on the farm of Britain's Princess Anne.
The 64-year-old royal is the owner of a farm in Gatcombe Park in Gloucestershire and has confirmed the death to farmers at the Oxford Farming Conference.
She explained: "We had a visit last night on our farm from a wild boar. "My Gloucester Old Spot boar is no longer with us as a result."
The princess has kept the pigs on her farm in Gloucestershire for a number of years.
The announcement came shortly after a motorist was killed on the M4 in Wiltshire close to the royal estate after his car collided with a wild boar.
The incident is believed to be the first fatality of its kind involving a wild boar in the UK.
The animals, which were once native to Britain, can run at 30mph and climb 6ft barriers, and there are growing fears that their population could spiral out of control.
In recent weeks, there have been reports of dogs being attacked and seriously injured by the animals, while horses have also thrown their riders from the saddle on seeing the boar.
