Queen Elizabeth visits agricultural show

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth was introduced to bees and a white bull yesterday (04.08.14).

The monarch is currently on her summer break at Balmoral in Aberdeenshire and took time to visit the nearby Turriff agricultural show, where she appeared unimpressed with miniscule Queen Bees, though she seemed to enjoy her encounter with the cattle.

After touring the showground, the queen entered the parade ring and beamed as she presented the bull’s owner with a silver Champion of Champions cup.

Later in the day, she attended a service of commemoration for First World War soldiers at Crathie Kirk.

The monarch was accompanied by her private secretary Christopher Geidt and lady-in-waiting Susan Hussey for the service and sat in silence as she listened from a pew.

The queen arrived at 6.30pm for the 30-minute service and sat in her private chapel, with members of her estate and household staff seated behind her.

Meanwhile, her husband the Duke of Edinburgh, who is currently staying at the royals’ Sandringham Estate in Norfolk also attended a church service to mark 100 years since the war began.

Other senior royals, including Princes Charles, William, Harry, and Edward, and Duchesses Camilla and Catherine, also attended special services and events to honour those who fought.
