Queen Elizabeth spends summer vacation elsewhere

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth has been forced to spend the summer elsewhere while tourist visit her Balmoral retreat.

The 88-year-old monarch will spend the first part of her annual vacation at the Craigowan Lodge, a mile away from her estate, in Scotland while the land is open to members of the public until next week.

The Queen is expected to stay at the seven-bedroom property for at least another seven days while security arrangements are made at the castle once the tourists have gone and it is closed off to the general public.

Her Majesty is expected to stay at Balmoral estate, which is used regularly by the royal family for their summer break, for two months but it is not known whether Prince Philip has joined her on the trip yet.

It is believed Elizabeth went straight to Craigowan Lodge after opening the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow last Wednesday (23.07.14).

She then went back to the sporting event on Thursday (24.07.14), where she watched the England women’s team win their first match of the competition against wales at the National Hockey Centre.

Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expected to join Prince Harry at the Commonwealth Games today (28.07.14) and tomorrow (29.07.14).
