Prince Harry hates Twitter

Britain’s Prince Harry hates Twitter.

The 29-year-old royal has hit out at the social networking platform, which allows users to share their thoughts in 140 characters or less, because it’s an "invasion of his privacy".

Prince Harry made the comments at Bethnal Green Academy in east London, where 60 children were being taught how to use Twitter and Facebook to help promote the upcoming Invictus Games, a charitable Paralympics-style event for wounded servicemen and women that the royal has helped organise.

Speaking to pupils yesterday (21.07.14), he said: "I would love to get involved and go on social media and if it was for causes like this I really would.

"The issue for myself and my family, put quite simply, is that it’s very hard for me to tweet about the Invictus Games and tweet about something that means a lot to me, whereas I at the same time really quite hate Twitter by the invasion of privacy."

He added: "I’m not on social media but I used to be."

The royal has been organising the Invictus Games for over a year and the event will take place in September at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford, London, in September.

He said: "For me this is an opportunity for the British public to say thank you to these people from across the world for their service."
