Prince George’s VIP birthday party

Britain’s Queen Elizabeth, Prince Harry and more will attend Prince George’s first birthday party today (22.07.14).

Prince William and Duchess Catherine, 32, are throwing a party in honour of their chubby-cheeked son at their 20-room apartment on the grounds of Kensington Palace today and it’s expected George’s great-grandmother, among others, will help celebrate the tot’s big day.

According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, other guests expected to attend the party include Prince Harry, 29, Catherine’s parents Carole and Michael Middleton, her siblings James and Pippa, and some of the royals’ closest friends.

Prince George’s godmother, Queen Elizabeth’s granddaughter Zara Phillips will attend with her seven-month-old daughter Mia. Catherine’s friends Oliver Baker and Emilia d’Erlanger are also expected.

Sadly, the one-year-old heir’s grandfather Prince Charles, 65, is unable to attend the party as he and wife Duchess Camilla are currently on their annual visit to Scotland and have royal engagements in Murthly and Perth.

The royal family marked George’s birthday by releasing two new pictures of him, taken during a visit to a butterfly display on the lawn of London’s Natural History Museum.

Museum spokesman Sir Michael Dixon said: "It was delightful to see Prince George’s first experience of the National History Museum and I look forward to welcoming them again."
