Prince Charles narrowly escaped death once when he was run over by a bus.
The 68-year-old royal was speaking with dignitaries at the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, South England, near to where he went to University at Trinity College from 1967 to 1970, about the time he had a brush with death when he was travelling on a bicycle.
He told them: "How I survived being run over by a bus when I was on a bicycle just outside here I don’t know."
While he didn’t delve further into the traumatic incident, Charles – who is married to Duchess Camilla – looks back on his time at university fondly and can’t believe that in 2017 it will have been five decades since he started at the college where he obtained a bachelor of arts degree.
He said: "For me it’s always the greatest pleasure to come back to Cambridge. I’ve always felt so lucky to be able to study at this university. It all went by in a flash and I’m horrified to realise that very shortly, next year in fact, it will be 50 years since I arrived!
"All I can say is time goes past unbelievably quickly … but I enjoyed it enormously.
"But it was a very special experience, as most of you probably know."
At the museum, Charles and Camilla where greeted by Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, Sir Hugh Duberly and the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge, Professor Sir Leszek Borysiewicz.
