Tom Baker has no Doctor Who advice for Peter Capaldi

Tom Baker has no advice for new 'Doctor Who' star Peter Capaldi on playing the character.
The 80-year-old screen legend - who portrayed the Fourth Doctor from 1974 to 1981 - insists every actor who steps into the TARDIS has to find his own interpretation of the Time Lord and believes 'The Thick of It' star will bring his own energy to the role.
When asked if he had any tips for Doctor-in-waiting Peter, Tom said: "No I don't have any advice for anybody and certainly not somebody taking over 'Doctor Who'. He's a very accomplished actor, I've seen him do lots of mean things, you know swearing into his mobile phone. I'm sure he'll be good. Nobody has ever failed, have they? So they you are, he'll be all right."
Tom made a return the BBC sci-fi show for the 50th anniversary special last November appearing in a mysterious scene opposite former Doctor Matt Smith in 'The Day of the Doctor'.
The veteran actor thoroughly enjoyed working with Matt, 31, and appreciated the help he offered him on set.
Tom recalled: "Going to Cardiff on a winter's morning at 4 o'clock couldn't possibly be fun, but Matt was nice. I didn't understand the cameras any more because of the HD, so I was a bit uneasy, but Matt Smith was a charming young man. We did this little scene that people liked a lot."
Tom has always been very proud of portraying the Doctor and he quipped it's only been in recent years that's he allowed himself to accept that another 12 actors have played the role as well.
He joked: "It's only recently that it dawned on me that were other Doctors, I don't know them you know and I've got no desire to know them and of course I never watched them, I thought it was only fair never to watch them because I never watched myself, all I wanted to do was do it ... But me and the other Doctors nod to each other at conventions."
Tom will be seen on TV screens as the Doctor once again as The Horror Channel is airing adventures from the classic series starting from today (18.04.14).

Helen Flanagan: London is ‘b*tchy’

Helen Flanagan thinks London is "b*tchy".
The 23-year-old actress, who currently resides in Manchester with her boyfriend Scott Sinclair, insists she won't setting up home in the capital when she has children.
She told Star magazine: "I don't like to be down south for too long. Even though it is amazing, it's b*tchy. You just want someone to be really, really friendly to you.
"I just think sometimes, everyone's a bit more friendly [up north]. If you go into a club and you're in Manchester you can say, 'I love your dress' and they'll say, 'oh thanks'. You say that in London and they'll be like...[gives a dirty look.]'"
Meanwhile, the former 'Coronation Street' star briefly split with Scott last year amid claims he cheated on her, but the brunette beauty insists their relationship is back on track.
She explained: "Everyone's got to work at their relationship, full stop. Everything's all about compromise. I'm very protective over [Scott], his football, that kind of thing.
"He's really not into [reality television]. Even if we're papped he's like 'ohh'. All he cares about is football."
Helen recently admitted she'd like to start trying for a baby in the summer and is even planning on coming off her acne medication to boost her chances of conceiving.

Peaches Geldof’s funeral held on Easter Monday

Peaches Geldof's funeral will take place on Easter Monday (21.04.14).
The body of the 25-year-old star will be laid to rest at the country church of St Mary Magdalene in Davington, Kent, South East England, where her late mother Paula Yates was buried in 2000.
Peaches' father Sir Bob Geldof, 62, will give a eulogy at the service, which will be invite-only - similar to Paula's ceremony 14 years ago - for friends and family.
An insider told The Sun newspaper: "Bob is keen to speak as he did at the funeral of Paula and his dad Bob Snr in Dublin, but he knows it won't be easy.
"The family are completely exhausted and trying to organise a memorable final farewell for Peaches."
Peaches' body, which was released to her family by the coroner last Thursday (10.04.14), will be taken to the church - where the star was also christened and married in 2012 - ahead of the heartbreaking mass next week.
It is believed her body will be cremated and her ashes will be scattered alongside her mother's at her family home, the gardens of Davington Priory, Kent, where she grew up.
Peaches was found dead at the home she shared with husband Thomas Cohen and their sons Astala, 23 months, and Phaedra, 11 months, in Wrotham, Kent, on April 7 after Thomas raised the alarm when she failed to answer his calls.
Peaches' devastated family, including sisters Fifi, 31, Pixie, 23, and half-sister Tiger, 17, are now awaiting the results of toxicology tests, which could take weeks, after an inconclusive post-mortem last week.

Victoria Beckham hiked Grand Canyon for birthday

Victoria Beckham celebrated her 40th birthday by hiking the Grand Canyon on Wednesday (16.04.14).
The fashion designer - who turned 40 yesterday (17.04.14) - took a trip to the national park in Arizona with her husband David and her friend Gordon Ramsay, and both their families, to celebrate turning the milestone.
An insider told the Daily Star newspaper: "When the family asked Victoria how she would like to spend the day before her birthday, they were all expecting her to say that she wanted to check into a luxurious spa hotel or go shopping.
"They couldn't believe it when she suggested they all have a family hike up the Grand Canyon.
"And it wasn't an easy trek either. The harder trails at the Grand Canyon can be pretty steep. You have to use your hands to pull yourself up and there's also the danger that rattlesnakes can strike if you get too close."
However, Victoria made her children, Brooklyn, 15, Romeo 11, Cruz, nine, and Harper, two, stick to the easier trails with their nannies while she, David and Gordon battled with the mud on the harder trails.
The source explained: "David, Victoria and Gordon did the harder trail while the kids stayed on the easier trails with their nannies and the rest of the family.
"Victoria's hands were covered in mud at the end but she loved every minute of it. She told them that it was a challenge she wanted to take on."

Foo Fighters new album is almost half done

Foo Fighters new album is "almost half done".
Producer Butch Vig, who is reportedly working on the record with Steve Albini, claims the band have been experimenting with new recording techniques and it is well on its way to being completed.
Speaking to Kerrang, Vig said: "We've been recording at some different locations, but we're almost halfway done with the recording and it's going well.
"It sounds different - we've thrown a few things into the mix, in the recording process, that are going to give the record a different sound and a different feel. It's been a challenge, but it's also been exciting."
The 'Everlong' band revealed in January that recording sessions for their new album, the follow-up to 2011's 'Wasting Light', were "f***ing on" and posted a photograph of a row of master tapes labelled 'Foo Fighters LP 8'.
Dave Grohl also told BBC Radio 1: "I know what it sounds like and I honestly think the entire concept is really going to take people by surprise and it sounds nuts."
Meanwhile, the band's fans have launched a campaign to get the band to play a show in their hometown for the first time in more than 15 years.
The campaign's fundraising page on Crowdsurfer reads: "It's simple. The Foo Fighters haven't played Richmond, Virginia since May 17, 1998. That's more than 15 years ago and that's way too long. So we're taking it upon ourselves to bring 'em back!"
The 'Help Bring The Foo Fighters Back To RVA' campaign site is selling 1,400 tickets at $50 a ticket.
However, the band have yet to announce they will play a date in the city.

Jason Statham almost drowned on set

Jason Statham nearly "drowned to death" on set.
The hunk stars as Lee Christmas in forthcoming 'The Expendables 3' alongside Sylvester Stallone who revealed just how "dangerous" action films can be while he was defending the genre which he believes isn't as well received as dramatic films.
Stallone told collider.com: "Everyone has this conjecture that action films are somewhat less prestigious than dramatic films. Nothing could be further from the truth. I've done them both and this is hard and dangerous. I mean, Jason [Statham] nearly drowned to death - lucky he's a great swimmer. All of us would've been walking on the bottom of the Black Sea by now - well, not really walking, probably floating - and that's some serious stuff. Things happen here. It's very very unique."
Stallone doesn't think films like 'The Expendables' series will be produced in the future since there is a lack of stars who'll be able to "commit" to roles needed.
He added: "They're not going to make films like this much longer because it takes a certain person that's willing to commit and go for it and have an aura. The hardest thing is to find an action star. I don't give a damn what anyone says, stars they come and go. An action star, you can count on one hand, because it's a very interesting element."

Taylor Momsen loves New York

Taylor Momsen needs "grit" in her life.
The Pretty Reckless singer tries to stay out of the limelight by living in New York where she can "hide" and claims she has never really "cared" about mixing with celebrities.
She told BANG Showbiz: "I'm actually quite shy and introverted - I'm not one to go out much. I'll have a beer or something or a glass of wine.
"I'm a writer, I'm very neurotic, I like to be alone with my thoughts. Everyone in New York has the mentality of, 'Mind your own s**t, mind your own business', it's a little easier to get away with hiding.
"But every time I get to California, I'm like, 'Why don't I live here, the weather is amazing, everything is pretty'.
"Then after two weeks, I get back to New York and I'm like, 'That's why ... I need a bit of grit in my life'. I even miss the smell of p**s on the street."
Although the 20-year-old star - whose new album 'Going to Hell' is out now - is more focused on music than partying these days, the former Gossip Girl star has hung out with Lindsay Lohan in the past but claims she has never tried to give her life advice.
She said: "I know Lindsay, I've hung out with her a couple of times, she's a super sweetheart, I know she gets a bad rep, but it's entertainment, if she's not in some sort of controversy it wouldn't be entertaining for people.
"I'm not one to give her advice, I haven't seen her in a couple of years but I wish her the best."

Uma Thurman no longer feels guilty

Uma Thurman no longer feels guilty about being a working mother.
The 'Nymphomaniac' star, who has a daughter, Mia, 15, and son, Levon, 12, with her ex-husband, Ethan Hawke, and 21-month-old daughter, Luna, with her fiancé Arpad Busson, admits she is much more relaxed with her third child.
The 43-year-old actress told the US edition of OK! magazine: "I've finally gotten to a much more relaxed place. That's the great part of growing up. You start to accept yourself.
"When I was younger and became a mother, I didn't think I could do anything else and I was completely overwhelmed. I'd feel guilty and afraid if I worked, and guilty and afraid about not working. So it's awesome now to have another baby when you're a grown up."
Uma got engaged to French billionaire Arpad, who has two sons with former supermodel Elle Macpherson, for the second time in 2011 after calling off their first engagement in 2009.
The blonde beauty, who considers herself "a romantic," revealed their relationship is firmly back on track.
She said: "I'm happier now than I've been in many, many years. I'm trying to live as peaceful a personal life as possible. I guess I'm less jaded now than I've ever been, definitely less than when I was younger."

Kerry Washington has learnt a lot from pregnancy

Kerry Washington thinks pregnancy has made her a better actress.
The 'Scandal' star, who is expecting her first child soon with husband Nnamdi Asomugha, admits it was a challenge to hide her growing baby bump while filming the third season, as her character Olivia Pope isn't pregnant, but it has made her more aware of her movements.
The 37-year-old actress told The Hollywood Reporter: "I work very physically as an actor. The biggest thing for me has been the challenge of how to be this person with the personal transformation that's going on for me physically and how to stay true to this character."
"That hasn't been easy."
But Kerry, who has won praise for her maternity style, added: "It's been an awesome challenge for me as an actor because so much of how I access character is through my body. It's definitely been complicated, to say the least. I've learned a lot about other ways to access Olivia and be her."
The actress had no input in the decision not to incorporate her pregnancy into the plot.
She said: "The decision of whether or not a character would be on a similar journey, I had nothing to do with that decision. I trust (writer/creator) Shonda (Rhimes) with all things. I feel very grateful that we have such an amazing team that was able to protect the character within the context of what the actress was going through."

Leighton Meester praises Adam Brody

Leighton Meester thinks her new husband Adam Brody is "incredible."
The former 'Gossip Girl' star, who tied the knot with the actor in a secret ceremony in February after meeting him on the set of their film 'The Oranges' in 2011, loved getting the chance to work with him again on their upcoming movie, 'Life Partners.'
The 27-year-old actress told Newsday: "That pesky guy. That came along just by chance. I was like, 'I'm gonna be playing the person you're not dating. That OK? I'm gonna be playing the opposite of that.' And yeah, I'm biased -- but he's incredible in it."
She added: "It was the best. We basically got to say whatever came to our minds. There was a lot of improv."
The brunette beauty is currently starring in the Broadway production 'Of Mice and Men' with Chris O'Dowd and James Franco, who branded a New York Times critic "a little b***h" for giving him a less than glowing review this week.
Earlier this month, the 35-year-old actor, who has since deleted his attack on Instagram, was forced to apologise for contacting Scottish student Lucy Corde, 17, via the social networking site and trying to arrange to meet her in a New York City hotel after she caught his eye outside the theatre.
He said: "I'm embarrassed, and I guess I'm just a model of how social media is tricky. It's the way that people meet each other today, but what I've learned -- I guess because I'm new to it -- is you don't know who's on the other end."

Kanye West has moved into a hotel

Kanye West has moved into a hotel in Los Angeles.
The 'New Slaves' hitmaker is reportedly fed up of living with his fiancée Kim Kardashians' mother, Kris Jenner, while their $11 million Bel Air mansion is being renovated and has decamped to the Beverly Hills Hotel with the 'Keeping up with the Kardashians' star and their daughter North, 10 months, to record his next album.
A source told OK! magazine: "Kris' constant meddling took a toll on him. He was miserable and wanted his own space, but their house won't be ready until the summer, so he and Kim have been staying at the hotel with North.
"They have a large suite for their living quarters an Kanye has another room that he uses to record in."
The couple, who are set to get married in Paris on May 24, hoped they would be able to move into their new home, which they purchased last June, as soon as they return from their honeymoon but the house is nowhere near complete.
The insider added: "It's been one setback after another for Kim and Kanye. They are pretty much homeless at the moment."
Kris, 58, previously insisted she and Kanye, 36, were getting on very well at her home in Calabasas, California.
She said last August: "He is a great guy. We live together. He's my roommate. He's an amazing guy and he is so clean. He is such a great member of my family."

Britney Spears’ dad wants her to stay single

Britney Spears' father reportedly doesn't want her to get married again.
The 'Perfume' hitmaker, who broke of her engagement to her former agent, Jason Trawick, in January 2013, is desperate to tie the knot with her boyfriend David Lucado but Jamie Spears doesn't think it's a good idea.
A source told the US edition of OK! magazine: "Britney is crazy about David but her dad told her it's not happening."
Britney, who has sons Sean, eight, and Jayden, seven, was previously married to her children's father, Kevin Federline, for three years until March 2007 and was also briefly married to her childhood friend, Jason Alexander, for 55 hours after they exchanged vows in Las Vegas in January 2004 but their union was quickly annulled.
The 'Toxic' singer pays Kevin an estimated $20,000 a month in chid support and Jamie, who acts as her conservator and oversees her financial affairs, wants to protect her assets.
The friend said: "Jamie doesn't trust any man's intentions. He doesn't want another Kevin getting her pregnant in order to be set financially. At this point Jamie is dead set against her marrying again."
Britney admitted late last year that she hoped to get married again and have more children.
She said: "I'd like to have more kids, settle down... have kids, maybe twins, and get married. That would be nice."
The singer also opened up about her relationship with David, whom she described as a simple but passionate guy.
She said: "I just love that he's very passionate, he's funny and sexy and I love him."
