Jason Manford returns to BBC following sex scandal

Jason Manford is returning to the BBC four years after he resigned from 'The One Show' following an internet sex scandal.
The 32-year-old comedian - who confessed to exchanging a string of sexually explicit texts and photos with women he met online during his marriage to his ex-wife Catherine - has signed up to host a spin-off of sports-themed quiz show, 'A Question of Sport'.
The father-of-three will be joined by team captains, former rugby union star Matt Dawson and ex-cricketer Phill Tufnell, on 'A Question of Sport: Super Saturday', which will be a companion to the Sue Barker-fronted original series.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Jason has been a naughty boy in the past, but he's still a great TV presenter and everyone deserves a second chance.
"The show should be a huge success. He has great chemistry with Matt and Phil, which has been proved when he's been a guest on the show."
The new programme will have a similar format to Sky One's quiz show 'A League of Their Own', requiring celebrity guests to complete a number of sport-orientated challenges.
A BBC spokesperson said: "'Super Saturday' is a brand new entertainment show to coincide with the World Cup England matches. It is packed full of fun, surprises, stunts and must-see challenges.
"Show regulars Matt Dawson and Phil Tufnell will be joined by celebrity guests as they go head-to-head to see who will b crowned Super Saturday supremo."
Jason will film the pilot of 'A Question of Sport: Super' next month, with the programme set to air during the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

EastEnders’ Diane Parish feels ‘revived’

Diane Parish feels "revived" by her current 'EastEnders' storyline.
The actress, who plays Denise Fox in the BBC One soap, admits she wasn't happy with the lack of storylines for the Minute Mart shopkeeper, but is now relishing in her expanded role due to the Lucy Beale murder mystery.
She said: "I don't feel exhausted by all of this Lucy Beale murder drama - I feel revived! It's no secret that I had been quite quiet in the show for a while, so when I heard about this storyline and what our new boss Dominic [Treadwell-Collins] had planned for Denise, I was dead excited."
Denise was set to walk out on fiancé Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) - who recently cheated on her with ex-wife Jane - last month, but ultimately decided to stay with him after news broke of his daughter Lucy's grisly death.
Diane doesn't agree with Denise's decision as the character has been "humiliated" by her cheating partner.
She told Inside Soap magazine: "I don't think Denise has done the right thing in staying with Ian at all, but that's just me. I'm nothing like Denise, I hope!
"She's been totally humiliated by Ian because she has literally become 'the help' - and that's not what she wanted from the relationship at all. But she can't leave him because she couldn't bear to be seen as a bad person for abandoning Ian at his time of need."

Matt LeBlanc lived ‘normal life’ after Friends

Matt LeBlanc was happy to live a "normal life" after 'Joey' flopped.
The 'Friends' actor starred in a short-lived spin-off of the smash hit sitcom between 2004 and 2006 - which centred on his loveable character Joey Tribbiani's move to Hollywood - and he admits he needed a break after the show was axed as he had worked non-stop for 12 years on 'Friends' and 'Joey'.
Matt said: "I didn't do anything for five years. I didn't want to work. I just let the dust settle and went back to my life and found out what it was like to go to the grocery store and drop off my dry cleaning again."
Matt was lured back to the small screen to play an exaggerated version of himself in 'Episodes', which is now in its third season.
He explained: "The writers called and told me the idea and I was flattered and genuinely excited. I thought it would be weird to play myself but it's not really me, it's a scripted character with references to my career and the public's perception of celebrity."
The 46-year-old star thinks the show challenges the public's belief that celebrities live glamorous lives without any worries.
He told the Metro newspaper: "The reality is celebrities are just as damaged as anyone else can be. It's not all glamour. That's what the lights and cameras are for. Behind the scenes, there's hard work, anxiety and disappointment."
'Episodes' season three begins tonight (14.05.14) at 10pm on BBC Two.

Harry Potter spin-off tipped for November 2016 release

J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter spin-off 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them' will be released on November 18, 2016.
The book which was published in 2001, billed as one of Potter's Hogwarts textbooks, will be adapted by Warner Bros. and set years before the arrival of the famous boy wizard - who was portrayed on screen by Daniel Radcliffe.
However, casting and a director is yet to be determined.
CEO of Warner Bros. Entertainment Kevin Tsujihara previously revealed the book will be turned into a movie trilogy.
He said: "Three megamovies are planned. The main character will be a 'magizoologist' named Newt Scamander. The stories, neither prequels or sequels, will start in New York about seven decades before the arrival of Mr. Potter and his pals."
Rowling has praised Tsujihara - who succeeded Barry Meyer as CEO in March 2013 - and recalled agreeing to pen the first of the spin-off movies.
She said: "When I say he made 'Fantastic Beasts' happen, it isn't PR-speak but the literal truth.
"We had one dinner, a follow-up telephone call, and then I got out the rough draft that I'd thought was going to be an interesting bit of memorabilia for my kids and started rewriting!"

Gerard Butler to star in Den of Thieves

Gerard Butler has been cast in the 'Den of Thieves'.
The 44-year-old actor will star in the film which follows a "legendary bank heist crew decides to rob the Federal Reserve in Los Angeles right under the nose of a rogue sheriff's deputy", reports Variety.com.
The film will be helmed by Christian Gudegast, who also co-wrote the script alongside Paul Scheuring.
Mark Canton, Ryan Kavanaugh, Tucker Tooley and Alan Siegel are producing, with Chris Bender, JC Spink and Butler executive producing.
Butler recently pulled out of the 'Point Break' remake where he was due to step into the late Patrick Swayze's shoes in a reboot of the classic 1991 surfer heist film.
It is believed he opted out of playing central character Bodhi due to a scheduling conflict and unnamed "creative differences".
The Hollywood hunk, who last hit the big screen in 2013's action thriller 'Olympus Has Fallen', is next set to star in 'How to Train Your Dragon 2' where he lent his voice to the character of Stoick the Vast.

Calvin Harris to extend Vegas residency

Calvin Harris is at the centre of a Las Vegas bidding war.
The Scottish DJ has been offered £7 million by the MGM Resort and Hakkasan nightclub to extend his two-year residency, despite only being midway through his current contract, as they fear he will be offered more money by another venue.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Calvin has been a real hit at Hakkasan. His nights are complete sell-outs and there is so much demand we could book him out twice over and still have a waiting list. We are a year into the deal and we want to make sure that we don't lose him.
"He has said he is happy here, so we are keen to get an extension deal done.
"Other venues have been trying to tap him up to get him on board there, but we are hopeful to secure a deal."
Partygoers splash out £70 a ticket for Calvin's nights and there is a waiting list for tables - which cost a staggering £5,000 each - for his popular Friday night gigs and the venue are keen to reflect his popularity with a huge pay offer.
The source added: "We are looking at around £7 million on the table, and it is worth every penny in our eyes."

Shakira is a fan of Coldplay

Shakira is a fan of Coldplay.
The 'Can't Remember To Forget You' singer, who has been inspired by stars of the past, including Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald, also loves listening to Coldplay, in particular their hit 'In My Place'.
Talking about the band's frontman, she said: "Chris Martin has one of my favorite male voices of all time - so emotive and incredibly honest."
Discussing her love of Billie, she also said: "Billie Holiday has one of the most timeless voices out there and is always something that puts me in a tranquil mood.
"I think although the lyrics are probably meant in a romantic context, for me there are some that make sense coming from a mother to her child as well - the idea of surrendering all of oneself to a love bigger than the individual.
"Ella Fitzgerald is another classic voice that has a soothing quality. Perfect to listen to at the end of a long day."
Meanwhile, when she's not downloading music old and new, she is on her mobile phone recording voice memos and playing around with ideas for future records.
She said: "This is one [app] I use in the studio a lot, to help me capture melodies, create references for arrangements, and work remotely with producers or musicians so they can hear the same thing I'm hearing."

Rita Ora thrills fans at secret show

Rita Ora wowed an intimate crowd at a secret gig in London on Tuesday night (13.05.14).
The 23-year-old pop star performed a short set of hits from her first album 'Ora' for competition winners at Mode in west London and latest single 'I Will Never Let You Down'.
During her rendition of 'How We Do (Party)' Rita's band played Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' as the singer jumped up and down on stage prompting her fans to do the same.
Rita joking told off her fans for not telling her she had bright rouge lipstick on her teeth and face.
Before fetching a tissue to clear up her make-up mishap, she said: "Oh guys, has it been on my face the whole time? Why didn't you tell me!"
Before playing her last song 'I Will Never Let You Down', Rita thanked fans for their support and told the noisy crowd they all had "loud mouths" like her.
As the concert came to an end purple ticker tape exploded from the ceiling covering the crowd.
Before leaving the stage Rita - who is dating Calvin Harris - posed for several selfies with her fans and was showered with various gifts including a T-shirt.
She later took to Twitter to praise the fans who came to watch her, writing: "Thank you for winning tickets to my secret gig BOTS! #back2westlondon #iwillneverletyoudown (sic)"

Kirsten Dunst burnt by Viggo Mortensen on set

Kirsten Dunst was burnt by Viggo Mortensen during filming for 'The Two Faces of January'.
The 32-year-old actress plays the 'Lord of the Rings' stars' wife in the crime thriller, and she's admitted that while they were shooting for a scene in the film, she was injured so badly that she still has the scars.
Speaking at the film's press conference at London's Corinthia hotel, she revealed to BANG Showbiz: "I remember that day [of filming] because Viggo is holding my body and he's grieving and he had to have a lighter on to illuminate what was happening in the scene and he's holding my body and laying me back down and I'm being burnt.
"I didn't want to say anything though, because I didn't want to ruin the scene, I was taking one for the team!"
The 'Melancholia' star revealed that the film's director, writer and film-maker Hossein Amini, didn't originally intend on giving her the part of Mortensen's character Chester MacFarland's younger wife, but she believes she brings more credibility to the role.
She said: "At first I know he [Amini] was thinking about maybe casting someone a little younger than me, to have that innocence maybe, or the flightiness of a woman who marries rich, but really what was more interesting was creating a real dynamic between us.
"A real husband and wife, and yes she's disillusioned a bit by the money and the glamour but I think that Colette truly loves Chester, and in order to make this dynamic more interesting we needed to have a more filled out woman rather than just a girl in the film."
'The Two Faces of January' will be released in cinemas across the United Kingdom on May 16.

A source told The Sun newspaper: "Put it like this -- at times in the hospital there were very grave areas of concern. The chemotherapy was really intensive.
"But she's a fighter. After two weeks of recovery at home, she came on leaps and bounds. She has a positive outlook and is winning this battle."
Caroline, 50, went public with her secret illness in order to help raise £3.4 million to improve care for cancer patients in Manchester, where she received great care and support from the nurses who were "brilliant" during her treatment.

The source explained: "Caroline wanted to keep the illness under wraps while undergoing treatment.

The actress-and-writer and her brother, Patrick, were both born with retinal cancer, leaving her near-blind in one eye and her brother will undergo checks too.
The source confirmed: "This cancer of the lung is not caused by smoking -- it's genetic. It affects only about one per cent of the population and her brother Patrick will have to get checked out as well."

Ellie Goulding dating fitness instructor

Ellie Goulding is dating a fitness instructor.
The 'Burn' hitmaker has reportedly been seeing fitness guru Sam Karl, a teacher at Barry's Bootcamp in Miami Beach.
The New York Post's Page Six claims the British singer was spotted enjoying a date with Sam on a luxury yacht owned by none other than Justin Bieber last week.
A spokesperson for Ellie - who previously dated electronic musician Skrillex and 'War Horse' actor Jeremy Irvine - has yet to comment.
The 27-year-old star has been single since her brief romance with McBusted star Dougie Poynter ended earlier this year.
Ellie was determined to stay solo after realising she was putting men before everything else in her life, but her resolution appears to have waned.
She previously said: "I [used to] put men on a pedestal. I decided to remedy that, and that's why I'm single now.
"They'd be everything [but] I've realised I don't need a guy. I've got amazing, awesome, stupid friends in the best way possible."
