Although his bride was absent from the procession, George was also accompanied by Amal's parents Ramzi and Baria, his father Nick and his mother Nina.
According to the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column, the star was in high spirits as he headed to the destination even shouting to a member of the crowd when they asked if his wedding was "really happening?"

The Ukranian-born media personality, 25 - who tackled Kim, 33, as she arrived at the Balmain SS15 show at Paris Fashion Week earlier this week - has confessed he had to take more care when pulling off the stunt because she is a woman.
However, the Hollywood Prankster - who has previously accosted stars including Bradley Cooper, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, America Ferrera and Will Smith at red carpet events - confessed he would have pulled out all the stops if he had been ambushing Kim's husband, Kanye West, instead.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: "I had a feeling that Kim would show up there because she is friends with the designer of Balmain. I basically came there just for them. I knew they were going to be the biggest guest of the night.
"If it was Kanye West, I would have done it like I did it with Bradley Cooper and Leonardo DiCaprio.
"But with Kim Kardashian, I was very cautious because I know she is a woman -- so I kind of hugged her legs. I already had a bad experience with America Ferrara. It's different with men."
Vitalii - a former journalist - insisted he is just "a normal guy" and doesn't mean to offend anyone with his antics.
He explained: "I like the show business world. But it's obviously not my intention to offend someone. It looks like I'm a monster, but I'm a normal guy. Well, what I'm doing isn't normal -- but I don't have bad intentions."
He added: "I'm already banned in America. I could be banned in the European Union next. I hope I will not be."

She explained: "I'm still fighting hard for every role I get. I'm still fighting the boundary of how old or young I can be, or how they want me to be something I'm not.
"You are always having this struggle, especially as a female actor against the higher powers trying to keep you in a spot which makes them feel comfortable. That's a major thing I'm battling right now."

She explained: "It could've been a disaster - but it wasn't by far.

The 'Mean Girls' star also admitted she had refrained from reading any bad reviews about the show's debut night.
She said: "Everyone is always going to be judgemental, no matter what.

Pixie Lott believes celebrities who cheat with their 'Strictly Come Dancing' partners must lack confidence in their relationship.
The 23-year-old 'Nasty' hitmaker - who is starring in the BBC1 dancing competition - thinks the "curse of Strictly" only affects those who lack faith in their other half but admits she does understand how affairs with dance partners could begin.
She told The Sun: "It is very intimate and you are spending a lot of time together. But if you're confident in your relationship then nothing is going to happen.
"There would have to be something wrong with your relationship in the first place for you to get with your dance partner."
Pixie - who is currently dating 26-year-old model Oliver Cheshire - has insisted her boyfriend has nothing to worry about as she is "not that sort of person".
She added: "He isn't jealous at all. He's got no reason to be.
"He met my dance partner Trent [Whiddon] and they got on really well."
The "curse of Strictly" can be traced back all the way to series one, when rumours stated that newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky was the driving force behind her dancing partner, Brendan Cole's split from his fiancee.
Other contestants including Denise Van Outen, Susanna Reid and Ben Cohen have split from their partners after appearing on the show.
Most recently, it was confirmed that television presenter Rachel Riley has separated from her husband and has started dating her ex-'Strictly' partner Pasha Kovalev.
Simon Cowell has insisted that being a father will not affect how he judges contestants on the 'X Factor'.
The 54-year-old media mogul - who has seven-month-old Eric with partner Lauren Silverman - has revealed that he will judge the hopefuls on their voices and the success of their performances.
When asked if his judging style had changed since the birth of Eric, he told The Sun's TV Magazine: "I don't see how it could.
"I mean, you've got someone who is rubbish, just because you've got a baby doesn't mean you will suddenly say that they're good."
Simon was joined at his Los Angeles mansion by ex-girlfriend and 'So Macho' hitmaker, Sinitta, who helped him whittle down his six contestants in the 'Overs' category to just three.
The 45-year-old singer - who has appeared as an aide on the show for nine of its 11 series - revealed there was a different atmosphere at the house this year.
She said: "It's very different doing Judges' Houses compared to the last time we filmed it here, five years ago.
"The difference is having the baby and the dogs. The house is just warmer, more relaxed."
Meanwhile, Simon has also revealed that he took his final six contestants to see One Direction perform on their 'Where We Are' stadium tour at the nearby Rose Bowl.
He explained: "That was an interesting reality check for them as it was the day before they performed.
"They were at a concert with 60,000 people watching a group who came from 'X Factor'.
"It probably was a bit daunting. It's a lot to live up to, but it is proof that you can do something from this show."

The 28-year-old actor - who stars alongside the actress in the new drama 'Maps to the Stars' - struggled to keep his cool on set in Toronto, Canada, during a raunchy sex scene with the flame-haired beauty.
The 'Twilight' star began sweating so profusely that the 53-year-old actress even became concerned for his health.
He told Heat magazine: "That was kind of hilarious - it was the first time I'd met Julianne as well. It was so hot in Toronto and she's one of these people - she doesn't sweat at all! But I sweat like a f**king crazy person. And I was trying to literally catch drops of sweat to stop them hitting her back.
"Afterwards, she was like, 'Are you having a panic attack?' It was so embarrassing."
Meanwhile, Robert also admitted he worried he wouldn't make it in the industry after failing to land any roles for three years when he first moved to Los Angeles.
He explained: "I'd been in LA for three years and not got a job, ever. 'Twilight' was my first job with my American agent, who had a six month turnover rate with clients.
"If you hadn't got a job in six months, you were kicked out of the agency, and my agent really stuck out for me."
