U2 plan to release a new album in just 18 months.
The Irish rockers caused controversy when they allowed their latest LP 'Songs of Innocence' to be given away on iTunes for free but despite only coming out in September the group already have another collection, titled 'Songs of Experience', lined up.
Bassist Adam Clayton told the new issue of Rolling Stone magazine: "We're hoping 'Songs of Experience' will be less about intimacy and more about a celebration of sorts."
Clayton's bandmate Bono has also revealed an album called 'Songs of Ascent' - a record he previously claimed would be the follow-up to 2009's 'No Line on the Horizon' - could still be released as part of a trilogy of themed LPs.
The singer said: "'Songs of Ascent' will come. And there are some beautiful songs."
The band also revealed they scrapped a completed version of 'Songs of Innocence' entirely produced by Danger Mouse because it didn't sound how a U2 record should sound, and instead changed some tracks with Ryan Tedder, Paul Epworth, Declan Gaffney and Flood.
Speaking about the music solely made with Danger Mouse, guitarist The Edge - who is also joined in the band by drummer Larry Mullen, Jr. - said: "We realised, 'OK, we've actually not delivered what you might call the hallmarks of our work - the big music."

Ricky Wilson flirts with Rita Ora on 'The Voice' for show.
The Kaiser Chiefs frontman - who is to be joined on the panel of the BBC talent show by the 'How We Do' hitmaker for the first time in the upcoming series - insists there is no romance between the pair and that any on-screen chemistry is simply for the cameras.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "It's television, it would be really boring if there wasn't any of that."
However, the 36-year-old singer admitted he is fond of the blonde beauty, 23, who has impressed him with her sense of humour and confidence.
He explained: "Rita is great. It's all about team Rita this year. It's great sitting next to her. Well, there's someone between us but I'm near her. She makes me laugh.
"She's so driven for 23, to have achieved all that. And so confident, I wish I was like that at 23."
Rumours that sparks were flying between the pair first emerged earlier this month after an audience member present during filming reported that Ricky had "hit it off" with the 'I Will Never Let You Down' hitmaker.
They said: "They had a chat in between takes where they were holding on to each other's arms, too. They've clearly hit it off."
Rita - who split from her DJ beau Calvin Harris earlier this year - is now thought to be dating Tommy Hilfiger's son Richard, while Ricky has been in a relationship with TV producer Lesley Williams for five years.
Sir Tom Jones and will.i.am will also return to 'The Voice' when it kicks off next year.

'Coronation Street' star Helen Worth is "delighted" Tina O'Brien is returning to the soap.
The 63-year-old actress, who stars as Gail Platt on the ITV soap, has confessed she's looking forward to being reunited with her on-screen daughter Sarah-Louise Platt - who announced her return yesterday (24.10.14).
Helen told 'Good Morning Britain': "I'm absolutely delighted she's coming back.
"I found out yesterday for sure, I can't wait to welcome her back."
Tina, 31, last appeared in the Manchester-based soap as the teenage tearaway nearly seven years ago, after joining in 1999, and has been involved in a large number of controversial storylines including one in which her character fell pregnant at just 13-years-old.
Sarah's return to Weatherfield's famous cobbles in early 2015 will be sure to cause some drama between brothers Jason (Ryan Thomas) and Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley), both of whom she dated, and her own siblings David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) and Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) but Helen says Gail will be there to stick up for her daughter.
She added: "I think ultimately, in the end, Gail will always keep her family together. She's like a lion, she looks after her cubs."

Chloe Sims felt "suffocated" while dating Elliott Wright.
'The Only Way Is Essex' star split from her co-star earlier this week and has admitted the reason their relationship fell apart is because they spent too much time together.
She explained: "We were together all of the time. Not many couples work together and see each other at home too. It can be too much and I felt suffocated."
Chloe, 31, also revealed that she felt "old" while she was dating the 33-year-old restaurant owner and noticed how she felt "isolated" from her friends as they were filming for the ITVBe show in Ibiza earlier this year.
She said: "I felt old and away from the others. It was like I was separated because I was in a couple.
"They were all off raving and we were having nice dinners. When you are in a relationship in the show you do isolate yourself and they don't include you in the group stuff.
"I always trusted Elliott and I don't want to feel old before my time. I'm still young and having fun. I don't want to lose my independence."
The feisty salon owner has stood firm on her decision not to make up with her brother Charlie Sims' girlfriend Ferne McCann, who she is currently feuding with on the show.
She said: "I won't speak to Ferne at all. I would never make amends with her now.
"We've had it out with each other and she's just not my cup of tea.
"There's honestly nothing I like about her and I think it's best if we keep our distance."

Kim Kardashian West used to be "obsessed" with Johnny Depp.
The 34-year-old star has revealed she used to have a cut-out of 'The Lone Ranger' actor - who earlier this year slammed "people who have reality shows because they're a Hollywood socialite" - on her wall next to her sister' Kourtney's Leonardo DiCaprio display because she was so enamored with the 51-year-old hunk.
She said: "Kourtney and I actually shared a room together at one point growing up. I loved Johnny Depp, I was obsessed with him, and she was really into Leonardo Dicaprio, so we had cutouts of them on our wall next to our Michael Jackson posters.
"I don't know who Khloe was into - she was younger than us, so it wasn't cool for us to hang out with our little sister"
But the 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians' star - who has 16-month-old daughter North with husband Kanye West - should've perhaps spent less time daydreaming about Depp and more time studying as the raven-haired beauty has admitted she regrets not paying as much attention in history lessons at school.
Kim - who enjoyed a meal at the Palace Of Versailles in France the evening before her and Kanye's nuptials in Florence, Italy - added to Marie Claire UK magazine: "I travel a lot now and when I'm going to see these pretty castles, people talk about all these kings and queens and families.
"Obviously I had heard of them but I wish I remember their history.
"When we were in France we would go have dinner in different people's homes and they'd show us the cool pieces of art they have, all bought from a certain time period and they start describing it.
"Even going to Versailles and having to hear all the history all over again it's fascinating, but I wish I understood more."
As well as her passion for history, the reality star also has a penchant for extreme sports including surfing, paddle boarding and sky diving, but admits she isn't able to jump out of a plane as much nowadays since she had North.
She said: "I think you would be surprised to know that I really am athletic. I love extreme sporty things - paddle boarding, surfing and fly boarding - although since I had the baby, I don't do sky diving so much anymore."
The full interview with Kim appears in the December issue of Marie Claire UK.

Ashley Williams has welcomed her first child into the world.
The 'How I Met Your Mother' star - who has made recurring appearances as Victoria in the US sitcom since 2006 - gave birth to son Gus Williams Dodson, who weighed 8lbs 8oz, on Sunday (19.10.14), and admits he is "calm" at the moment.
She told PEOPLE magazine: "He's gorgeous and healthy. So far he's soothable and calm. Knock on wood!"
Ashley and her husband Neal Dodson are said to be delighted after welcoming their first child, and the 35-year-old beauty admitted they decided on the name because everyone loves the moniker Gus.

Ashley and Neal announced in July she was expecting, and the brunette star joked they hadn't exactly chosen the ideal moment to have a baby.
She quipped: "After years of waiting for the perfect moment to have a child, we decided to go with this moment instead. And we couldn't be more thrilled."

Nicole Scherzinger can relate to her "broken" 'Cats' character.
The former Pussy Cat Dolls singer feels a strong connection to Grizabella the Glamour Cat - the character she will playing as part of Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber's reboot of the musical 'Cats' which was based on the poems by T.S. Eliot - because she has faced many personal struggles like her fictional feline role.
Talking to the Daily Mail newspaper, Nicole explained: "There are so many layers to her ... no wonder Eliot warned it was too sad for children. Grizabella is broken and I know what that feels like, to be broken not only on the inside from personal relationships but in many ways.
"She's been shunned and mistreated by society and her people. I understand feeling like an outcast, feeling like an outsider, feeling like I don't fit in and wanting to be accepted."
Nicole also admitted that she has yet to sing her character's famous song, 'Memory' in front of Lord Webber and is waiting for rehearsals to start before she blows him away.
She explained: "It's sacred. I haven't touched the song because I'm waiting for rehearsals. Andrew and I have worked together a number of times. He has faith in me."
Despite her strong connection to the role, the 36-year-old singer confessed that she is actually allergic to cats.
She joked: "I'm allergic to cats! Like, I'm really allergic to cats. I like dogs."
Nicole will star in the West End production from December 2014 to February 2015.

Speaking about his role in the movie, Hasselhoff told Digital Spy: "It's a pretty funny bit that we're doing in the movie, and [Seth] is a lovely guy.
"I can't really talk about the gag, but it's very irreverent and very funny. He tore me up on the Comedy Central roast, and I get a chance to get back at him!"
The 62-year-old actor also spoke about his personal relationship with MacFarlane, saying: "He's a good guy, we don't meet too many people in showbiz where they say, 'Hey buddy, I'll call you back, I've got something for you', and then you actually hear from them again. This guy's a stand-up guy."

Steve Carell and Charlie Kaufman are collaborating on an adaptation of 'IQ 83'.
Kaufman, whose previous work includes 'Being John Malkovich' and 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind', has been hired by Paramount Studios for a rewrite of the screenplay based on Arthur Herzog's sci-fi novel.
Carell, 52, is set to play the role of Dr James Healey, who heads a group of scientists that accidentally unleash an experimental virus on the population, Deadline reports.
People infected by the virus find that their IQs begin to fall, meaning the scientists are in a race against time to discover a cure before they're rendered too unintelligent to do so.
The producer of the project, Andrew Lazar, has been trying to get an adaptation of 'IQ 83' made for 20 years.
Meanwhile, Carell recently revealed that he wants to star in a musical.
The 'Anchorman' actor sang in a number of stage productions when he was a student, and says he would love to tread the boards once again.
He said: "I did a bunch of musicals back on college, 'Oklahoma', 'Cabaret'. I would love to do a musical some time.
"I can carry a tune, I don't think I'm a great singer but I could fake it."

Britain's Prince Charles has paid tribute to late actress Lynda Bellingham, admitting she will be "hugely missed".
The 65-year-old royal praised the late star, who died on Sunday (19.10.14) aged 66 after battling colon cancer, for being a fantastic ambassador for his charity PRIME (Prince's Initiative for Mature Enterprise) and a "marvellous actress".
Speaking to delegates at the launch of his new PRIME initiative in London yesterday (23.10.14), he said: "Before referring to the work of PRIME, I did just want to pay, if I may, a special tribute to Lynda Bellingham, who was, as many of you know, a wonderful ambassador for PRIME.
Personally I was greatly saddened to learn that she had passed away. As you know, she was not only a marvellous actress but also someone who worked tirelessly for others.
"So she really will be hugely missed."
The 'Faith in the Future' star - whose cancer later spread to her lungs and liver - was previously invited to the event, which saw the launch of a campaign to encourage employers to give jobs to some of the 1.1 million, dubbed the "missing million", who are 50 and over and want to work again, but had to politely decline due to her illness.
Following his tribute to Lynda, Charles called for employers to take on more people aged 50 and over, describing older workers as a "valuable asset".
He said: "For what it's worth, to me one key fact revealed by this research is that employing older people does not mean younger people are crowded out of the labour market.
"The number of jobs in the economy is not set. There is room to employ younger people and older people in a mix of skills and experience that creates better business.
"This research makes it clear that older workers are not a burden but a valuable asset."

Gemma Collins is set to quit 'The Only Way is Essex'.
The 33-year-old star is hoping to land her own chat show and become the next Oprah Winfrey after starring on the reality show for the past three years since the second series, but in the meantime she is said to have signed up to 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!'.
A source said: "Gemma feels she's done her time on 'TOWIE' and is keen to try new things. She believes her profile is high enough to jump ship and go it alone.
"There's even talk she could have her own show with Lime Pictures, who make 'TOWIE'."
Before she starts grilling celebrities on her own show, the blonde star is expected to be taking on some Bushtucker Trials as she heads to the Australian jungle for the 14th series of 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! next month.
However, Gemma is said to be leaving the door open on a possible return to 'TOWIE' at some point which could see her follow in the footsteps of current star Lydia Bright, who quit the programme in December 2012 only to return in April this year.
The source added to The Sun newspaper: "Gemma hasn't closed the door completely on 'TOWIE' but there are lots of other projects she's being lined up for."
In reportedly signing up for 'I'm A Celebrity', Gemma will follow in the footsteps of former 'TOWIE' stars Mark Wright and Joey Essex to try to cope with jungle conditions.

Lindsay Lohan felt "upset and uncomfortable" after chat show host Jonathan Ross quizzed the actress about her time in jail.
The 'Mean Girls' star's team have reportedly asked ITV bosses to cut the section of their interview in which Jonathan, 53, asked Lindsay how long she spent behind bars.
responding to his question, the 28-year-old actress replied: "I have no idea. I've blocked that part out. That's in the past. OK. You are not putting this on the show."
Jonathan later reflected: "Well, it's been lovely, occasionally tense, having you here. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. I was just going on about the same subject, which is why you, understandably, got a little defensive."
However, show insiders have since dismissed the suggestion that Lindsay was left feeling uncomfortable by Jonathan's questions.
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "She seemed totally happy throughout. In fact, she seemed more than willing to talk about her time in prison as a whole and actually volunteered this information.
"Jonathan got some brilliant answers and actually professionally throughout. He did a great job.
"So we are totally bemused as to where this upset has suddenly come from days later."
Since 2010, Lindsay has been imprisoned for a number of offences, including the theft of a necklace, but was released prematurely due to prison overcrowding and was instead put under house arrest.
The interview is set to air on ITV tomorrow (25.10.14) at 10.10pm.
