Taylor Hawkins: U2’s album is like ‘a fart’

Taylor Hawkins has compared U2's new album to "a fart".
The Foo Fighters drummer has slammed the 'With or Without You' rockers for having their 13th album 'Songs of Innocence' automatically downloaded onto people's phones, even compared the album to a totalitarian regime.
He explained: "I don't know that any of that new album has anything great on it. I listened to it once, but it's so marred by that whole sort of, like I said, Orwellian, '1984' extreme that it just kinds sounds like a fart any way you listen to it."
Talking to Australia's The Music, Taylor then added: "I mean, I think they probably thought it was gonna be a great idea, 'Here's the deal: everybody who has an iPhone, gets your record. And they get it for free!'
"And they thought, probably, 'Well that's pretty awesome!' but hey didn't really take into consideration the Big Brother feeling that kinda goes along with like, 'You have the new U2 record' ... You couldn't get rid of it and they actually had to come up with an app to get rid of it, that's horrible."

Katy Perry: I was in a darker place after divorce

Katy Perry has hinted at being suicidal following her divorce from Russell Brand.
The 30-year-old 'Prism' singer married the comedian, 39, in October 2010 before splitting in December 2011, and now Katy has revealed the full extent of her depression during the aftermath of their divorce.
She shared: "It was sad and there were thoughts, but there were never actions, thankfully.
"Sometimes you can be blinded by your extreme emotion."
Talking about her emotional song 'By The Grace Of God', she told Australia's 'The Project' yesterday (10.11.14): "[It] is the first song that I wrote coming to make this record, when I was in a different place, I was in a darker place.
"You always feel like you're the only one going through that. Well then comes along a song that speaks to you, that makes you feel like, 'Gosh, I can get through this. If she can get through this, I can get through this.'"
In the past, Katy - who has since dated John Mayer and is rumoured to be dating Diplo - has told Billboard magazine how her song 'Prism' also exposed how vulnerable she was feeling post-divorce.
She told the mag: "That song is evident of how tough it really was at a certain point. I asked myself, 'Do I want to endure? Should I continue living?' All the songs are real-life moments.
"I can only write autobiographically. I put all the evidence in the music.
"I tell my fans if they want to know the real truth about stuff, just listen to the songs."

Jennifer Lawrence star-struck by Lorde set visit

Jennifer Lawrence "freaked out" when Lorde visited the set of 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1'
The 24-year-old actress got star-struck when the 'Royals' singer came to meet the cast and watch a shoot of the new fantasy film because she is such a big fan.
Speaking about the pop star's trip to the set, Jennifer told BANG Showbiz: "It was so cool, oh my god! The whole set freaked out, everyone stopped and it was like, 'Be normal! Be normal! Be cool!'"
The 18-year-old performer has curated the soundtrack to the franchise's third film, as well as writing and recording the track 'Yellow Flicker Beat' especially for the film, and Jennifer loves the track.
She said: "Honestly, the first time I ever heard that Lorde song, 'Yellow Flicker Beat', it just gave me goosebumps.
"I mean, you read the book and internalise the character and go on set and have conversations with the director and your co-stars but it was so bizarre to hear a musical version of what, emotionally, I feel."
The Oscar winner also believes her 'Hunger Games' alter ego Katniss Everdeen would be a huge fan of the 'Team' songstress.
Jennifer said: "I think she really captured that character so magically that it was a really amazing thing to listen to, so I think Katniss would be a huge Lorde fan. And obviously Taylor Swift."
Speaking about the decision to enlist the young singer to work on the film's soundtrack, producer Nina Jacobson added: "There was truly nobody who made more sense than Lorde. It was kind of a no brainer in that regard.
"It felt like such a natural fit and she came and visited us on set. I think we were all a bit starstruck!"

Usher resisting album pressure

Usher is resisting "pressure" to "rush" his next album.
The 'OMG' hitmaker is determined to take his time working on his eighth record - the follow-up to 2012's 'Looking 4 Myself' - and wants to use his current 'UR Experience' tour to "reconnect" with his audience before returning to the recording studio.
Ask if he'll record while on the road, he said: "I found myself feeling pressure to rush it and put out an album, and all of a sudden, I just realised; I've been doing this long enough to really get it right.
"So on my eighth studio album, I thought it would be better for me to go out [on tour], feel my audience, reconnect, take some of that, and then go back and finish it up."
And the 36-year-old star also admitted he thinks there is a "pressure" on artists to do something unusual with their new music, such as releasing albums without warning or relying heavily on social media.
He told Vulture.com: "There's a pressure to cross-market and make sure that all the avenues through which you can reach a consumer make a connection. Musically, emotionally, branding, all of those things together, that's what makes you significant in this time."

Simon Cowell friends with James Arthur again

Simon Cowell and James Arthur are friends again.
The music mogul and the 2012 'X Factor' winner are said to have made up after James approached Simon to ask for tickets to attend Sunday night's live show (09.11.14).
According to the Mirror newspaper, Simon offered the 26-year-old singer and his sister VIP tickets to sit in the audience and even invited him to his dressing room so the pair could talk over their differences and bury the hatchet.
Following their chat, James also enjoyed dinner with this year's remaining contestants.
A source said: "Even though Simon dropped James after just one record, and didn't condone the way he conducted himself on Twitter, he still thinks that James is incredibly talented and wanted to put water under the bridge.
"James seems to be in a really good place now - he genuinely seems happier than ever. This is something he needed to do to be able to move on."
The pair became embroiled in a very public spat earlier this year which ended in the 'Impossible' singer being dropped from his SyCo record label.
James is believed to have upset company bosses on several occasions with his behaviour, online rants and use of controversial lyrics.
He was reprimanded in April after unveiling the rap track 'Follow the Leader' in which he sang: "Look at what you do to me, I'm crying over stupid s**t, you're such a f**king homophobe, wish I'd never let you in, to think that I was thinking maybe I should let you live, I'm gonna blow up your family like I'm a terrorist."
He was also heavily criticised for using the word "q***r" in a rap battle and became involved in a text and Twitter argument with his fellow 'X Factor' contestant Lucy Spraggan.

Tyga arrested in Los Angeles

Tyga has been arrested in Los Angeles.
The rapper was reportedly in the process of filming a music video in a Rolls Royce with a group of men when police officers pulled them over and handcuffed the 'Rack City' hitmaker.
According to gossip website TMZ, it remains unknown why Tyga, 24, has been arrested after he was spotted up against a fence at the roadside in South Central surrounded by a group of LAPD officers and six police cars.
An eyewitness claimed that the star was pulled over for reckless driving, although it is not yet clear why he was handcuffed.
Tyga - who has a two-year-old son, King Cairo, with his ex-fiancee Blac Chyna - is reportedly dating 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' star Kylie Jenner.
The pair fuelled rumours they were romantically involved after they were spotted enjoying a meal together at Japanese restaurant Kabuki in Hollywood on what it is said to have been a "date" last month.
A source close to the musician told TMZ that Tyga and Kylie are now "dating" but the insider insists their relationship is not physical because the raven-haired star is only 17.

Solange Knowles to marry this weekend

Solange Knowles is getting married this weekend.
According to US Weekly, the 'Losing You' hitmaker and younger sister of superstar Beyonce Knowles, will tie the knot with her video director boyfriend Alan Ferguson in New Orleans this weekend.
It is believed the 28-year-old singer and DJ - who has managed to keep her entire engagement and wedding plans a secret until now - will begin the weekend-long nuptials at the home she shares with her 10-year-old son Jules from her previous marriage to Daniel Smith.
The wedding party will enjoy an intimate movie night together on Friday (14.11.14), before attending a rehearsal dinner on Saturday (15.11.14).
The following day the happy couple will say their vows in a private ceremony surrounded by their close friends and family.
Solange previously spoke of her happiness at finding her longtime love Alan, although she confessed their stress-free relationship doesn't inspire her musically.
She said: "Luckily, I dated all of the losers ages ago. My love life has been stable for a while.
"It's a f**ked-up thing - without conflict it's a lot harder to write interesting songs."
The raven-haired beauty is following in the footsteps of her 33-year-old sister who secretly wed her rapper husband Jay Z back in 2008.

Jason Sudeikis defends Olivia Wilde’s breastfeeding photo

Jason Sudeikis has defended Olivia Wilde's breastfeeding photo.
The 'Horrible Bosses' star - who has a six-month-old son, Otis, with his 30-year-old fiancee - has admitted he approved of her decision to be photographed feeding Otis during a shoot for Glamour magazine in September and thinks the picture is "great".
He told Access Hollywood: "That was great. That's a working mom.
"[It was] not planned. He was there, and he did a little pop in visit to see mom and duty called."
The 39-year-old actor was more shocked by the fact his baby son relieved himself over a designer gown during the shoot and joked the tot must have been trying to create his own masterpiece in the style of graffiti artist Banksy.
He said: "He peed on a very expensive dress. He's Bansky. People don't know my son's Banksy."
Jason also confessed he felt changed by fatherhood and finally understands why his 'Horrible Bosses' co-star Charlie Day was always keen to leave the set and get home to his family instead of go out and have drinks with his friends.
He explained: "I mean, as these guys well know, I remember a lot of times Charlie wanting to get home from set and saying, 'I've got to say goodnight to my boy,' and before [fatherhood] happens, you're just kind of like 'Come on, man, let's get a beer!'
"Now I'm like, 'Oh yeah, yeah I get that. Let's get home and say hi to the little guy. Tickle him a little bit, before he falls asleep'."

Anna Kendrick admits being drunk in interview

Anna Kendrick was drunk during a recent interview.
The 'Pitch Perfect' star took to Twitter today (10.11.14) to confess she was intoxicated while she answered personal questions for Marie Claire magazine.
The 29-year-old actress posted on her account along with a photo of her cover for the monthly publication: "Marie Claire got me drunk for my interview #true #DidntFightIt."
During the interview, the 'Twilight Saga' star - who will next appear in 'In The Woods' opposite Meryl Streep - opened up about her struggle with online trolls attacking her appearance and insisted she doesn't let the comments bother her as she got used to them in high school.
She explained: "The most common thing that I get is, 'Am I the only one who doesn't think that Anna Kendrick is pretty?'
"And you're like, 'No, you're not the only one. Arguably, all of the boys in my high school agree with you.'"
The brunette beauty is also looking forward to reprising her role as Beca in 'Pitch Perfect 2' and feels increasingly driven to get started on the project.
She said: "Mostly it's the fear that the wolves are always at your heels and you're going to be tossed out into the street. If you grow up middle class, you just always feel like you've got to be working, because otherwise you won't be able to pay the rent."

Kelly Osbourne not ready to replace late co-star Joan Rivers

Kelly Osbourne isn't ready to replace her late co-star Joan Rivers on 'Fashion Police'.
The 30-year-old TV personality confessed she hasn't been able to grieve properly for the comedienne - who passed away following complications during throat surgery in September - and is angry that people show more concern for the future of the E! Series than her well being.
She said on the Today show this morning (10.11.14): "I can't lie and say that I'm amazing. It's something, to be honest with you, I really don't like talking about because I haven't been able to mourn and grieve the way that I want to.
"Not one person that I have seen or walked up to me or spoken to since the day she passed has ... the first thing that comes out of their mouth is, 'Who's replacing Joan?'
"I have started to get to my angry phase. So, it's not been fun."
When one of the NBC show's anchors, Al Roker, suggested that Joan - who passed away aged 81 - was irreplaceable, the star was overcome with emotion and asked to change the subject.
She said: "Can we please move on so I don't cry on morning TV?"
Questions over who will replace Joan were sparked following the announcement that the show is set to continue without her in January.
A new season of popular style series - which Joan hosted for four years and is produced by her daughter, Melissa Rivers - will kick off in the new year and is expected to feature longtime co-hosts Giuliana Rancic, George Kotsiopoulos, a new acid-tongued fashion critic and Kelly herself.
A spokesperson previously said: "We are deeply saddened by the loss of Joan Rivers and, for the last two weeks, have turned our attention to honoring her memory on all of our platforms. We have also thought long and hard about what Joan would have wanted as it pertains to the future of 'Fashion Police'.
"We decided, with Melissa Rivers' blessing, that Joan would have wanted the franchise to continue. 'Fashion Police' will return in 2015 commencing with Golden Globes coverage on Monday, January 12. No further details will be announced at this time."

Jennifer Lopez’s new approach to dating

Jennifer Lopez is taking a new approach to dating.
The 'On The Floor' hitmaker - who split from choreographer Casper Smart in June this year after two and half years - has come up with new tactics to bag herself her dream man and won't be rushing into a new relationship any time soon.
She told HollywoodLife.com: "I'm already thinking of myself in a different way ... when I meet someone that I'm attracted to or have chemistry with, I'm going to take my time and make sure that it's the right person. That they're whole too. I'm making sure I'm whole first. Then together we can add to each others' happiness."
She added that her perfect guy will be, "supportive, loving, caring, honest, all those things."
The 45-year-old singer's new approach to dating coincides with the release of her book 'True Love' in which she reveals her struggle to find the one and includes details of her previous relationships with Hollywood heartthrob Ben Affleck and her ex-husband Marc Anthony.
The brunette beauty - who split from 'Argo' star Ben in 2003 just days before they were set to marry - recently admitted that ending the relationship was her first real heartbreak.
She explained: "When Ben and I split up at the moment when I thought we were committing to each other forever, it was my first real heartbreak, it felt like my heart had been torn out of my chest.
"I had breakups and things but I'd never felt heartbroken until we called off that wedding. It was devastating to me, maybe because it was so public.
"I really felt like I had found somebody great and he had found somebody great and we thought we could make it work."
