Sam Smith proud he isn’t ‘mental’

Sam Smith feels proud he hasn't "gone mental."
The 22-year-old musician released his debut album 'In The Lonely Hour' earlier this year - which was already become the biggest-selling debut album in the US in 2014 - but is more impressed he has managed to stay grounded than by the record's success.
He explained: "The thing I'm most proud of at the moment - and people might get angry with me for saying this - is the fact that I actually haven't gone mental. I've been able to keep myself completely the same person I was two years ago. If not, I'm actually a little more aware than I was before."
The 'Stay With Me' hitmaker - who has been nominated for six Grammy awards including Album of the Year and Best New Artist - said he has been too busy with his hectic schedule to stop and think about what he has achieved.
He continued: "If I sit back and start thinking about those figures, it's not going to help in my mission to stay grounded and attempt to stay a little bit normal - even though I'm completely not normal anymore!"
The chart topper went on to say he doesn't think he'll ever feel confident writing such honest music, because many of his fellow musicians do not write songs about themselves.
Talking to Digital Spy about his honesty on the album, he said: "I'll never be comfortable with it. It's going to be an ongoing battle. Even at the American Music Awards the other week, I was mixing with celebrities and people who... there's a made-up reality, if you know what I mean, in the pop world.
"By the way, it's something that I love. I love watching crazy performances that don't require a lot of singing and there's more glitter and stuff like that. But it's sometimes a little bit daunting being the only person who's just standing there and singing and not twerking. I find being honest, in the way that I am, challenging every day."

Olly Murs wants EastEnders role

Olly Murs wants to be someone's holiday romance on 'EastEnders'.
The 30-year-old singer recently filmed on the set of the BBC One soap for his upcoming TV special, 'A Night In With Olly Murs', and joked the experience was like a test set by soap bosses to see if he would be a good addition to the cast.
Talking to BANG Showbiz at the Capital FM Jingle Bell Ball on Saturday (06.12.14), Olly said: "It was like my audition. I was telling them it was my audition because one day I'd love to do it. But no very exciting.
"My show comes out next Friday (12.12.14) and obviously I do a great little cameo in 'EastEnders' ... well I hope it will be great. I felt a bit of pressure because I know a lot of artists have done soap appearances and stuff in the past but hopefully people will like it."
However, now the 'Wrapped Up' hitmaker has had a taste of life on Albert Square, he is keen to return for a slightly longer period and has theorised about the plot which could see him arrive in Walford.
Olly - who released his fourth studio album 'Never Been Better' last month - joked: "I'd like to be ... one of the girls on set has been away on a girls holiday and she's fallen in love with someone, like a romantic holiday. I've come back to Albert Square and I'm a bit of a Jack the lad and everyone hates me and kick me out of Walford in like two weeks. That's a good little plot!"
However, despite his aspirations to feature in the show, the former 'Xtra Factor' host admitted he is focusing on his music and presenting, and isn't looking to embark on an acting career in the immediate future.
He explained: "For me music is what I want to do the most. But I think what was great about the show was that I was able to do the presenting side of things that I love to do, as well as the singing, so I was able to do the two things that I love to do in my job. Obviously acting and stuff I'd love to do but I'm not really an actor, I don't think. But music and presenting for sure."

Lauren Platt knew her X Factor journey was over

'X Factor' evictee Lauren Platt knew last week her time on the show was up.
The 17-year-old singer was voted off by judges Mel B, Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell after finding herself in the sing-off against Andrea Faustini.
Lauren has admitted she had a feeling in the days leading up to the live show on Saturday (06.12.14) her journey on the pop star show was up.
During an interview on 'Good Morning Britain', she said: "I kind of had a feeling all week to be honest - they say when you're on the show and it is your time to go you have a feeling all week - and that's what everyone has had so far and it was my week this week."
Lauren also thanked her mentor Cheryl Fernandez-Versini for all her support during the competition.
The teen star also revealed Cheryl invited her to her home last week to prepare for her performance and the judge even treated her to a professional massage and an Indian meal.
She said: "Cheryl's so hands-on - she had me around her house countless times this week preparing me for whatever way the show might have gone this weekend ... One night we had an Indian takeaway, we watched 'I'm a Celeb...' and had a massage..."
Lauren also admitted she'd "love to see Ben Haenow win" this year's 'X Factor'.

Julia Bradbury expecting twins

Julia Bradbury is pregnant with twins.
The 44-year-old presenter announced her second pregnancy in September, and has now revealed her three-year-old son Zephyrus will be joined by twin siblings.
She said: "Starting later in life having children, I didn't ever think I'd have a big family. Zeph was the unexpected miracle and I was thrilled and happy to have him.
"It's taken a long time to get to this stage so the prospect of going from one to three is utterly amazing."
However, the former 'Countryfile' host - who is expecting the babies with her partner Gerard Cunningham - is feeling anxious due to her age and because she suffered from pre-eclampsia towards the end of her first pregnancy.
She explained: "We've got to be ultra, ultra careful, really cautious and try to stay as healthy, calm and comfortable as possible."
Julia - who will return to television in January with ITV's 'Wonder of Britain' - now says she feels relieved to be pregnant after five rounds of IVF treatment.
She said: "It's punishing on the body - five rounds of general anaesthetic, months of pumping yourself full of hormonal drugs - and emotionally, too, because you can go through failure after failure as well as moments of hope - 'Is this one going to work?' - then it's a blow when it doesn't.
"I felt physically tired from everything. When we phoned to get the [pregnancy] results, I just burst into tears because you always question whether your body is going to say no, so it was a complete relief."
Despite the troubles she had in conceiving her children, the former 'Watchdog' co-host is glad the twins are arriving now as she thinks being older makes her a better mother.
Talking to the new issue of HELLO! magazine, she said: "I feel more able to be a good parent now than I would have been a decade ago. There's no question. I wasn't ready emotionally and I don't think that I would have been as capable a mother."

Toho planning new Godzilla film

Toho is planning a new 'Godzilla' movie.
The Japanese production studio is set to make a reboot of the classic monster movie following the success of the latest Hollywood blockbuster of the same name by director Gareth Edwards.
The studio first introduced the giant reptilian creature in 1954 but agreed to leave their creation alone in 1995 to make way for a Roland Emmerich-directed Hollywood version.
They re-introduced Godzilla in the late '90s before killing off the monster for the second time in 2004 'Final Wars' 2004.
Toho are now set to revive their monster once again after seeing the latest Hollywood reboot - starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen and Bryan Cranston - earn around half a billion dollars worldwide this year, reports Empire Online.
Taichi Ueda, Toho's producer, said: "The time has come for Japan to make a film that will not lose to Hollywood.
He added the company's aim is to create the movie in time for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, to "represent Japan and be loved around the world".
Toho is yet to announce the production team but have put together a team of executives and directors to plan the next stages of the film which is set to start shooting next summer and is aiming for a 2016 release.
It will be the 29th time Toho have featured the monster in their films.
The company will also erect a statue of Godzilla in Shinjuku, Tokyo, in honour of the new movie in April.

Jason Momoa to play Aquaman in four films

Jason Momoa has signed up to play Aquaman in four films.
The 35-year-old actor has revealed he has agreed a deal to portray the sea-based DC Comics superhero in three further movies after he appears in 2016's 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice'.
Momoa insists the character is going to be totally "bad-ass" and he can't wait for people to see him on screen.
He revealed his DC film deal during a panel appearance at the Comic-Con Experience in Brazil, adding: "He will be a bad-ass, otherwise they wouldn't cast me for the role."
At the event, Momoa also revealed he wants Zack Snyder - who helmed 'Man of Steel' and will take control of the sequel and subsequent 'Justice League' films - to direct the standalone 'Aquaman' movie due for release in July 2018.
As well as Momoa, 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' will see Henry Cavill back as Superman, Ben Affleck portraying Batman, Jesse Eisenberg appearing as villain Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as butler Alfred Pennyworth, Amy Adams returning as Lois Lane and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman.

Chris Brown apologises to Karrueche Tran

Chris Brown has apologised to Karrueche Tran.
The 'Loyal' hitmaker - who recently announced they had ended their on/off romance - slammed the model on Instagram for her lack of support when he was jailed for a probation violation earlier this year and even accused her of dating his rival Drake while he was behind bars, but he has now admitted he shouldn't "air out" his personal life on social media.
Alongside a picture of himself hanging his head in shame, he wrote: "Being young and dumb is one of my strong suits and emotional at best. I love hard and react impulsively when I'm hurt at times. I don't think social media is a place to air out or hash out personal problems and a n***a feel hella WACK for doing it.
"So I AM APOLOGIZING I live in a glass house and the same s**t that makes me great also is my curse. Everybody know I love that girl. I don't care how my image my look to the public because I'm still gonna be the best at what I do. I just want baby girl to know I apologize!(sic)"
Karrueche, 26, has yet to respond to the apology, but she also used the website to slam the 25-year-old singer over the weekend, accusing him of "repeatedly mistreating" her.
Writing on Instagram, she said: "I refuse to be repeatedly mistreated by someone that claims to love me. That's not love.
"And if that's what you define as love then I don't want it.
"If you can't love me the right way then don't love me at all.
"Don't be mad at me because I prefer to be happy."
Karrueche also revealed she's single on Twitter.
She said: "Looks like I'm a single lady again."
The pair first started dating in 2011, but have broken up on a number of occasions.
During one of their break-ups, Chris reunited with his ex-girlfriend Rihanna - who has also dated Drake - and has since admitted complicated his relationship with Karrueche.

Bette Midler’s 30-year marriage secret

Bette Midler says the secret to her 30-year marriage has been "never" seeing her husband.
The 69-year-old singer tied the knot to artist Martin von Haselberg in 1984 and while she joked being apart from him for lengthy spells is the reason they are still together, she admitted the pair used to "fight bitterly" but they decided to stay together for the sake of their daughter Sophie, who is now 28.
When asked what the secret to a long marriage is, she replied: "We never see each other! No, he really is the wind beneath my wings, he has looked after me for many, many years, he's sacrificed a lot.
"We used to fight bitterly, we came to the conclusion that we wanted to raise a child, we wanted to raise a really wonderful child, we never wanted to hurt that kid in any way and we stayed together until it got better, and it did get better and it was really fascinating.
"And both of us, we both look back and we just like wipe our brows and say, 'What the hell was that?' "
The 'Wind Beneath My Wings' hitmaker also admitted she was proud of her and Martin's relationship because it is the "oldest marriage in Hollywood".
Speaking on ITV's 'Good Morning Britain', she added: "It's like a thousand years in dog years. Our marriage is the oldest marriage in Hollywood."

Madonna must sit for deposition

Madonna has been ordered to suit for a deposition.
The 'Music' singer is being sued by beauty firm Hard Candy for allegedly stealing their name for her fitness brand and will now be filmed answering questions from a lawyer as part of the case.
However, judge John O'Sullivan, in making the ruling, also stated the 56-year-old star can only answer questions pertaining to the lawsuit.
The ruling, as obtained by RadarOnline.com, stated: "In the event that Hard Candy's counsel asks any further questions beyond the scope of permissible discovery during any future depositions, Defendant's counsel is instructed to object that the question goes beyond the scope, permit the witness to answer the question, and file a motion with the Court if Sanctions are appropriate."
It was also ruled that Madonna and Live Nation LLC must turn over any licensing agreements in which merchandise is sold in Florida.
The Florida-based cosmetics company accused the 'Material Girl' singer of trademark infringement and unfair competition in their lawsuit.
The case claims Madonna began selling her goods under the Hard Candy name in 2011 despite a previous rejection from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Hard Candy are seeking financial damages and for Madonna to stop using their name completely.

Brooke Shields slams momagers

Brooke Shields has hit out at momagers for "basking in the attention" of their child's fame.
The 49-year-old actress was managed by her mum Teri Shields for the early part of her career and loved her "ballsy" attitude to showbusiness, but she believes there are too many parents in charge of their kids nowadays who love getting photographed and making sure they are as styled as their offspring.
She said: "When I watch a lot of these young girls now, the mums are absolutely basking in the attention as well - right down to the way they take care of themselves.
"It's all about their look and style, too - at least from the outside it appears that way.
"What distinguished my mother is that she was ballsy and fought for me but the one or two times where she was photographed, she hated it.
"She wasn't trying to still be a sexy young girl herself - she just transferred all the attention on to me."
Brooke's mother - who died in 2012 - has come under fire for getting her a job modelling baby soap aged 11 months and the star went on to play a prostitute at just 12 years old in 1978 film 'Pretty Baby', but the actress and model insists she doesn't blame her mum for anything.
The brunette beauty - who documents her relationship with her mother in new book 'There Was A Little Girl: The Real Story of My Mother and Me' - added to the Daily Telegraph newspaper: "I can't fault my mother for what she did because what kind of a life would this kid from Newark who was divorced by the time I was five months old have had?
"We would be dirt poor - still. So I understand the genesis of it."
