Claudia to host Comic Relief Danceathon

Claudia Winkleman is to host the first ever Comic Relief Danceathon.

The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ co-host is calling on Britain to take part in the six hour non-stop dance extravaganza to raise money for Red Nose Day 2015.

She said: "This just might be the greatest day of our lives. Wherever you live in the UK, if you like dancing, we’d love you to take part in the Comic Relief Danceathon. I am ridiculously excited."

The brunette beauty will be joined by stars including former Strictly judge Arlene Phillips, actress Chelsee Healey, ‘Countdown’ beauty Rachel Riley, Rufus Hound, Strictly spin-off show ‘It Takes Two’ presenter Zoe Ball, Jo Whiley and former Pussycat Dolls star Kimberly Wyatt at the event.

The Danceathon will see over 2,000 fundraisers dance non-stop for six hours with the style and teacher changing every 30 minutes to switch between 50s jive, 60s swing, 70s disco, 80s anthems, street dance, latin, hip-hop, Bollywood and West End Musicals.

Claudia, 42, will be hosting the event at London’s Wembley arena – where places are limited – but those keen to get involved can join in at locations across the country and even set up their own Danceathon in village halls, sports clubs or gyms.

The plan is to get the entire nation dancing between 12pm and 6pm on March 8, 2015 and all money raised will be spent by Comic Relief in the UK and across Africa to help vulnerable and disadvantaged people turn their lives around.
