Craig Revel Horwood: The X Factor’s ‘had it’s day’

Craig Revel Horwood says 'The X Factor' has "had its day".
The 49-year-old dancer is a judge on rival show 'Strictly Come Dancing' and insists that while the BBC One celebrity dance contest is as popular as ever, the ITV talent show has passed its peak.
Claiming Strictly had yet again had a "fabulous year", he said: "As for our rivals...to be honest, The X Factor's had its day."
Craig claims the show's judges - Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and Mel B - are too busy bickering with one another to find real talent.
He continued: "It's too much about the judges now."
The outspoken critic went on to slam the show for allowing Italian contestant Andrea Faustini to make it to this weekend's final.
Writing in his column for Woman magazine, he added: "There aren't any contestants you want to champion and there's no one left in Britain with the X Factor - that's why they've had to go to Italy."
However, while Craig isn't a fan of his main competitor, he admits he does have a soft spot for another reality series.
He added: "'Gogglebox is my favourite TV show. The gay guys are so funny but I love Steph and Dom - they're always drunk! It's hilarious to see them slagging me off on the show!"

Californian man handed jail time for stealing piece of Paul Walker’s car

A man has been sentenced to six months in jail for stealing a piece of the car in which Paul Walker died.
Anthony Janow, 26, from California, admitted to stealing a roof panel from the Porsche Carrera GT in which the 'Fast and the Furious' actor died on November 30 last year, aged 40.
Janow has been handed a six-month jail sentence, as well as three years of formal probation by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Lloyd Nash.
In August, he entered a no contest plea to felony grand theft and misdemeanor counts of destroying evidence, in addition to obstructing a police officer.
Jameson Brooks Witty, his 19-year-old co-defendant, was also sentenced to six months in county jail and three years formal probation on August 14 for his part in the incident.
Shortly after the theft occurred, Witty took to Twitter to post a picture of the red roof panel taken from the car wreckage.
He boasted: "Piece of Paul Walker's car, took it off a tow truck at a stop light."
Paul and his friend Roger Rodas both died after the latter lost control of the Porsche Carrera GT in Santa Clarita, California, causing him to hit a pole and a tree and for the car to burst into flames.

Christian Bale offers Batman advice

Christian Bale advised Ben Affleck to ensure he can go to the bathroom alone in his batsuit.
The 40-year-old actor found it "ridiculously unheroic" to need assistance getting in and out of the tight rubber suit he donned to play the Caped Crusader in three movies, so has advised his successor - who portrays the iconic character in the upcoming 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' - to check he can relieve himself easily.
Explaining the advice he has given Ben, Christian said: "The first one was, 'Be able to take a p**s by yourself.'
"I found it to be ridiculously unheroic between takes when I said, 'Excuse me, I need to pee, could somebody undo me please?' "
And the 'Dark Knight' star also told Ben to insist his mask wasn't too heavy or uncomfortable.
He added to The New York Daily News newspaper's Confidenti@l column: "I took three people 20 minutes with tools in order to take that cowl off [my] head."
Though Christian isn't upset someone new is playing Batman, he admits he is surprised a new movie is being made so soon after his last outing as the masked vigilante, which came in 2012's 'The Dark Knight Rises'.
He said: "The baton has been passed, that's the nature of Batman.
"Of course, it was passed a lot quicker than I expected, but I completely understand."

Bob Geldof launches Band Aid challenge

Bob Geldof has urged fans to take part in the Band Aid Challenge.
The Boomtown Rats frontman is hoping to raise more money for Ebola relief with a social media effort similar to the Ice Bucket Challenge - which saw web users pour freezing water over themselves before nominating three people to do the same to raise awareness of ALS - that involves singing a key line from the re-written Band Aid 30 version of 'Do They Know It's Christmas Time?'.
Fans are asked to download the WholeWorldBand app and, using its inbuilt camera and microphone, sing Bono's like "Tonight we're reaching out and touching you" and then nominate three people to do likewise and posting the videos on social media.
Bob said: "I've got a bunch of celebs lined up who are going to do it. We need to keep up momentum. I want us to raise about £5 million but we need people to understand that we've only got three weeks to make a difference."

The app can automatically create a video mix featuring the Band Aid 30 artists plus up to five other people singing along.
Each new mix can be shared on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter and for every singer participating, £1.40 will be collected for the Band Aid 30 appeal .

Felicity Jones: The Theory of Everything is a unique love story

Felicity Jones says 'The Theory of Everything' is a "unique love story".
The 31-year-old actress plays Jane, the wife of the theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking (Eddie Redmayne) in the biopic, and said the film portrays the couple's special bond.
She told BANG Showbiz: "It's an incredibly unique love story and Stephen and Jane are both such phenomenal people and when you meet them, they're so witty. You know, there's nothing that you can say that can compete."
The movie - which received its premiere in London on Tuesday (09.12.14) - follows the couple's 30-year marriage before their divorce in 1995, and is inspired by Jane's memoir 'Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen', which detailed her relationship with the star, his success in physics, and his diagnosis of motor neurone disease.
Despite the couple splitting up, Felicity explained their relationship worked for so long because of their intellect and excellent sense of humour which helped them overcome their issues for many years.
She added: "They're really sharp, sharp people, so we wanted to bring that humour that they both have into the film."
Other stars in the film include Tom Prior, Sophie Perry and Finlay Wright-Stephens, who play their three children Robert, Lucy and Timothy as youngsters.

Madonna turns down The X Factor

Madonna has turned down the chance to perform on 'The X Factor' final.
The 56-year-old singer has reportedly refused to appear on the ITV singing competition despite the pleas of head judge Simon Cowell.
A source revealed: "There are very few people in the music world who Simon can't appeal to. He has made no secret of the fact that he is desperate to get Madonna on board but she just won't do it.
"The 'X Factor' final is one of the biggest shows on the planet and a great platform for anyone who wants to sell records. It is a big blow to the final."
For the last episode of the reality show, it is thought the remaining contestants - Fleur East, Ben Haenow and Andrea Faustini - will be joined by the boyband One Direction, Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith, although there are rumours that Simon is hoping to secure an extra act to amp up the star factor.
The source told The Sun newspaper: "They have already got some absolutely brilliant names in One Direction, Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran. They are three of the biggest stars of the moment but none of them has that real wow factor and One Direction are already so closely associated with The X Factor.
"A huge American star such as Beyonce, Christina Aguilera or Rihanna makes people's jaws drop to the floor."
