Charlize Theron took a stand to ensure she got paid the same as co-star Chris Hemsworth for 'The Huntsman'.
The 39-year-old actress was initially set to be paid less than her co-star for appearing in movie, which is due out in 2016, but she negotiated and will now get more than $10 million for her appearance.
An insider explained: "Charlize insisted that she get paid the same money as Chris. She has a great track record, so she got the same deal."
Another source told the New York Post's Page Six column: "One knock-on effect from the Sony hacking scandal is that there will be more sensitivity about equal pay for actresses and hiring practices at movie studios."
'The Huntsman' is a prequel to the 2012 hit film 'Snow White and the Huntsman', which also starred Kristen Stewart.
Meanwhile, Aaron Sorkin claimed recently women's on-screen roles have a lower "degree of difficulty" than men's.
The 53-year-old producer said Meryl Streep and Dame Helen Mirren are two of the only female stars who can hold their own among the top male actors.
He said: "Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep can play with the boys but there just aren't that many tour-de-force roles out there for women."

James Corden has likened Benedict Cumberbatch to an alien.
The Tony Award-winning actor - who stars in new Disney film 'Into The Woods' alongside Emily Blunt, Meryl Streep and Johnny Depp - said that in comparison to the 'Sherlock' star, he is merely a "human".
The 36-year-old entertainer explained to BANG Showbiz: "I believe that there are two types of actors in the world. I believe that there are aliens - they are people that you look at and go, 'I don't know how they're doing that.' And then there are people who are always representing the audience.
"So, the best example is you could watch Mark Rylance plays Hamlet and you go, 'I don't know how he does that.' And then you watch Simon Russell Beale play Hamlet and go, 'Oh my!' And it's the same text, the same text! The same character... Benedict is an alien and I'm a human."
Meanwhile, James revealed he had a great time filming 'Into The Woods' - which also stars Anna Kendrick and Chris Pine - because the cast were so talented and friendly.
He said: "I got on with all of the cast. They were the best group of people I've ever, ever met."

James Corden dreams of playing Rocky Balboa.
The Tony Award-winning actor stars in 'Into The Woods', alongside Hollywood heavyweights Emily Blunt, Johnny Depp and Meryl Streep, but James has revealed his ultimate ambition is to assume the role of the professional boxer.
Speaking at the UK gala for the new Disney film, the 36-year-old star told BANG Showbiz: "There are so many roles I'd like to play. I'd love to play Max Bialystock in 'The Producers', I'd love to play Pseudolus in 'A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum'. I'd love to play Rocky!"
Although 'Into The Woods' boasts a stellar cast - which also includes Anna Kendrick and Chris Pine - James insisted there were no egos on the set and he feels privileged to have worked with so many talented people.
He shared: "They're the best group of people I've ever worked with, I feel honoured to have shared the same space as them. I really, really am."
James also said the film - which has been adapted by James Lapine from his and Stephen Sondheim's Tony Award-winning Broadway show of the same name - tells an important message.
Asked to explain the meaning of the musical fantasy film, James said: "No-one is alone. No-one is on their own, ever."
'Into The Woods' is released worldwide later this week.

T.J. Miller and Ed Skrein are in talks to star in 'Deadpool'.
Ryan Reynolds has agreed to reprise his role as the Marvel Comics anti-hero, a part he first played in 2009 film 'X-Men Origins: Wolverine', and now Fox are finalising the other cast members.
According to reports, 'Ill Manors' actor Skrein is reportedly being lined up to play the film's main villain, while 'Transformers: Age Of Extinction' star Miller is wanted for some comic relief in the action flick.
The script has been penned by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese and the pair have promised to stay true to the wisecracking mercenary's portrayal in the Marvel Comics Universe and allow Reynolds to "break the fourth wall" and speak to the screen.
Shooting on 'Deadpool' - which will be directed by VFX artist Tim Miller - is due to begin in March with the film scheduled for a February 2016 release date.
Reynolds is a huge fan of the character and according to Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld it was his enthusiasm and insistence he wanted to play the "merc with a mouth" again that resulted in the movie being made.
Liefeld previously said: "Ryan is Deadpool. Look, Ryan Reynolds, he's gone through that same career arc, the guy is ridiculously talented.
"He has a huge, huge passion for Deadpool, because he was a giant star, they said, 'Ryan, what do you want to do?' And he said, 'Deadpool'.
"That's why it happened. They would have no faith otherwise. That movie is because of his passion. He put together the team."

Channing Tatum is learning how to be a star.
The 34-year-old hunk wasn't prepared for his career to take off in the trajectory it has and as well as always trying to become a better actor he is getting to grips with every other thing that comes with his profession.
In an interview with The Independent newspaper, Channing said: "I don't know how to do this. Every single part is something different, and hopefully you're doing something different so it's not derivative of something you've done."
Channing became a Hollywood A-lister following the huge box office success of 'Magic Mike', which he made with director Steven Soderbergh.
The film was based on his own experiences working as a male stripper in a Florida club after he graduated high school and the actor is still in shock it took $167 million worldwide.
Channing said: "We made that in a different way than most people do movies. We (me and Steven) talked about 'Magic Mike' and we talked about my past and how I'd like to make it into a movie ... He was like, 'I want to do it. I have this time slot available. But we're going to finance it, your buddy (Reid Carolin) is going to write it - and that's how it has to happen.' And I was like, 'Done!' I had no idea what that even meant! We just did it."
Channing - who is married to actress Jenna Dewan-Tatum - is being tipped for awards success for his latest role as Olympic gold medal-winning wrestler Mark Schultz in drama 'Foxcatcher'.

Jack O'Connell and Margot Robbie have been nominated for this year's EE BAFTA Rising Star Award.
The two stars are among the five short-listed actors announced today (07.01.14) to be up for the prestigious prize.
Margot and Jack will battle it out with 'Belle' actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley to take home the trophy at the BAFTA Film Awards on February 8.
Jack, 24, has seen his career rocket after starting off in teen TV drama 'Skins', landing the lead role in director Angelina Jolie's World War II film 'Unbroken'.
Speaking at the nominees announcement - which was made by Stephen Fry at BAFTA headquarters in London - he said: "Thank you to BAFTA and the jury. Gugu, 31, has come to prominence following her performance in 'Belle' in which she played a Caribbean slave's daughter raised as an aristocrat in 18th Century England, and admitted she is "delighted" to have been nominated.
The former 'Doctor Who' actress said: "I am delighted to be nominated for the EE Rising Star Award. It is such an honour to be recognised for a growing body of work and I am proud and excited to be included."
Australian starlet Margot, 24, received universal praise for her performance in 2013's 'The Wolf of Wall Street' opposite Leonardo DiCaprio and is set to appear in three movies this year, 'Suite français', 'Celine' and 'Z for Zachariah'.

Ethan Hawke came close to playing Doctor Strange for Marvel.
The 44-year-old actor was heavily linked to the role because of his relationship with director Scott Derrickson, who he worked with on 2012 horror 'Sinister', but ultimately lost out to Benedict Cumberbatch.
Speaking to the 'Happy Sad Confused' podcast, Ethan said he'd come "as close as anybody could" to playing Doctor Strange, and he also said he remains "totally open" to taking on a role in another Marvel film.
Ethan shared: "We're living in the age of Marvel. Marvel has a tremendous amount of power over what everybody's going to see. They're making movies at a high rate and they're making them successfully."
However, Ethan also admitted such films require lots of tiring promotional work.
He said: "It's a tremendous amount of time in your life where you're working, and not acting."
Earlier this month, Benedict Cumberbatch said he doesn't think taking on the lead role in 'Doctor Strange' is a risk.
The 38-year-old star is confident the film will be a success because of Marvel's ability to bring lesser-known characters to life.
He shared: "I don't think it's a risk because of Marvel.
"Marvel is a stable of bringing out ordinary comic characters and turning them into screen-like gods."

Ron Howard thinks movie trailers are "more important than ever".
The 60-year-old director believes trailers have always been important, but says the ever-increasing influence of the internet means their significance continues to develop.
Asked how crucial trailers have become, Ron replied: "Well they've always been vitally important. And then for a while, when the Internet took hold, people began to wonder if theatrical [trailers] were still as important. And it turns out they're more important than ever.
"I think there are far more eyeballs on a trailer, whether that's for a TV show or a movie, than there ever has been. It's always been its own particular art form."
The Oscar-winning director was asked whether he shoots scenes in his movies with the trailer in mind.
He told Yahoo Movies: "I joke about that, and once in a while I'm right, but more often, the people that actually sit with the footage and sort of put it through their filter wind up surprising me every time."
Ron also said trailers are a good way for ambitious directors to further their careers.
He explained: "I just think it's fantastic for the storytellers, for the companies to be able to suggest various aspects of a story to the public, so that people can understand that there are a number of reasons to consider sampling a show or a movie. And it does stimulate creativity. A lot of great filmmakers came out of the world of making trailers."

Cara Delevingne wants a cameo role in the 'Absolutely Fabulous' movie.
The 22-year-old beauty is eager to star in the much-anticipated film, in a move that would see her follow in the footsteps of Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, both of whom appeared in the popular TV sitcom.
Cara is a huge fan of the show - which was created by comedian Jennifer Saunders - about two selfish middle-aged women.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Jennifer has not yet finalised the script, which will see her resume her role as Edina and Joanna Lumley play Patsy.
"Fashion world stars are bound to be making cameos."
Earlier this month, Jennifer Saunders confirmed she'd finished the first draft of the 'Absolutely Fabulous' movie script.
The 56-year-old star, who has been working on the script for the past 12 months, said she felt "euphoric" after finishing writing.
She said: "I've finished the first draft. I'm feeling euphoric.
"My proper New Year's resolution is to do the film, otherwise it'll be a pointless year of procrastination."
In addition to Jennifer and Joanna Lumley, Julia Sawalha and June Whitfield will also be returning to their original roles for the movie.
