Charlize Theron gets equal pay for The Huntsman

Charlize Theron took a stand to ensure she got paid the same as co-star Chris Hemsworth for ‘The Huntsman’.

The 39-year-old actress was initially set to be paid less than her co-star for appearing in movie, which is due out in 2016, but she negotiated and will now get more than $10 million for her appearance.

An insider explained: "Charlize insisted that she get paid the same money as Chris. She has a great track record, so she got the same deal."

Another source told the New York Post’s Page Six column: "One knock-on effect from the Sony hacking scandal is that there will be more sensitivity about equal pay for actresses and hiring practices at movie studios."

‘The Huntsman’ is a prequel to the 2012 hit film ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’, which also starred Kristen Stewart.

Meanwhile, Aaron Sorkin claimed recently women’s on-screen roles have a lower "degree of difficulty" than men’s.

The 53-year-old producer said Meryl Streep and Dame Helen Mirren are two of the only female stars who can hold their own among the top male actors.

He said: "Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep can play with the boys but there just aren’t that many tour-de-force roles out there for women."
