Neill Blomkamp promises ‘genetic sibling of Aliens’

Neill Blomkamp's new 'Alien' movie will feel like the "genetic sibling of Aliens".
The 35-year-old director, who's been brought on board to helm the eagerly-awaited new movie, has revealed that his film will disregard 'Alien 3' and 'Alien: Ressurection' and will instead carry on from the James Cameron-directed 'Aliens' in 1986.
Blomkamp told Sky News: "I want this film to feel like it's literally the genetic sibling of Aliens. So it's Alien, Aliens, and then this movie."
What's more, Sigourney Weaver, who starred in the 1979 original 'Alien' movie, said she's keen to see her on-screen character Ellen Ripley give a "proper finish" to her part in the franchise.
She shared: "I would love to take Ripley out of orbiting around in space, and give a proper finish to her story."
Meanwhile, Blomkamp recently revealed his interest in directing the new 'Alien' movie was sparked by conversations he had with Weaver while they were making the new sci-fi movie 'Chappie'.
He explained: "Speaking to Sigourney Weaver, when we were doing Chappie, she set off a bunch of thoughts in my head - I had come up with an idea that didn't have Sigourney, it was a different idea. But I spent all of the shooting time with her, it was like, holy s***, that could actually be really interesting.
"When I came back to Vancouver, I had an entire year to work on Chappie. And when I wasn't needed in the edit, I could think about Alien."

Jamie Dornan denies he won’t star in Fifty Shades of Grey sequel

Jamie Dornan has denied claims he won't star in a 'Fifty Shades of Grey' sequel because his wife doesn't want him to.
The 32-year-old hunk had reportedly told film bosses he wouldn't be reprising his role as kinky businessman Christian Grey in the next two films in the series, but it's now been claimed the sequels are yet to be confirmed.
A representative for the star told The Sun newspaper: "All press reports are pure conjecture as the studio has not committed to a sequel as yet."
The 'Fall' actor took on the role in the film based on E.L. James' novel of the same name after 'Sons of Anarchy' star Charlie Hunnam dropped out.
However, it's been claimed Jamie's wife Amelia Warner - with whom he has a young daughter - is unhappy with her husband getting intimate with co-star Dakota Johnson and had requested he turn down the sequels, although this has now been shot down as nothing but a "rumour".
Jamie's spokeswoman said: "There's no truth to this fabricated rumour."
Reports of troubles in their marriage emerged after an Australian publication claimed Amelia was unhappy with her husband of two years starring in explicit sex scenes.
NW magazine reported a source as saying: "Jamie said the movie would sky rocket his career.
"He tried to assure Amelia nothing would change but women all over the world now lust after Jamie.
"She hasn't seen the film and I don't think she will to be honest."

Sean Penn says most actors are ‘punks’

Sean Penn thinks the majority of actors are "punks".
The 54-year-old star has hit out at people who work in the film industry, accusing the majority of performers of diluting themselves for the benefit of studios.
He said: "I think many actors have disgraced their craft and are left to celebrity status in many cases. They're mostly the punks for what the studio wants to do."
The Academy Award-winning star said he's seen some noticeable changes in the film industry since he started his acting career.
He told Shortlist magazine: "I think acting today, by and large, is more associated with a fame-building game than anything to do with a gift. It's supposed to be a giving and not taking industry, and today it's more about the take."
Sean stars as a special forces officer in his new film 'The Gunman', and he insists that it's not unrealistic for a man of his age to play an action hero.
He reflected: "President Obama's biggest surprise when he met the Seals who went into Abbottabad to get [Osama] Bin Laden was that they were old.
"It's also a conversation about who's going to the movies these days. Maybe older people go the theatre more and will identify [with someone my age], while kids are looking at movies on their laptops."

Margot Robbie thinks going on holiday leads to job offers

Margot Robbie thinks going on holiday helps her find acting work.
The 24-year-old actress, who starred alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in 'The Wolf of Wall Street', revealed she secured the part of Donna Freedman in the Australian soap opera 'Neighbours' two days into a trip to Canada, while her role in 'Focus' - in which she appears opposite Will Smith - came about during another vacation.
She explained: "It seems to be the way I get jobs - I book a holiday, I get to the other side of the world, then I'll get the job.
"It's kind of my method now."
Margot also recalled her life before she found fame, when she worked at the fast food restaurant Subway and over-indulged in cookie dough ice cream.
Speaking to radio duo Angus O'Loughlin and Ash London for the Shazam Top 20, she shared: "I made myself sick on that stuff, I ate so much frozen cookie dough."
Meanwhile, Margot recently revealed she hadn't heard of the popular US sitcom 'The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air' or DJ Jazzy Jeff before meeting the show's star, Will Smith.
She recalled: "[Will] was... not offended, but maybe a little surprised I didn't know who Jazzy Jeff was. I didn't understand a lot of the references, which of course the crew were all over. I said his name wrong, I called him Jazzy Jam or something. Will said, 'Are you serious?' I had no idea what he was talking about. I think he thought I was a lost cause."

John Travolta’s Oscars exchange with Idina Menzel ‘was all planned’

John Travolta's on-stage exchange with Idina Menzel at the Academy Awards was "rehearsed in total".
The 'Grease' star - who caused much amusement during the same event in 2014 when he called Idina 'Adele Dazeem' - was jokingly introduced by the 'Frozen' actress as, "My dear friend, Glom Gazingo".
John responded by saying, "I deserve that", before touching the brunette beauty by the face in an awkward-looking moment that sparked much discussion on social media.
However, a representative of John claims the entire incident was planned in great detail and there was nothing uncomfortable about it for either party.
His representative told UsWeekly: "It was rehearsed in total. John Travolta loved working with Idina Menzel. John had a great time at the Oscars because his wife, Kelly Preston, and his daughter, Ella, were in attendance with him."
Meanwhile, John recently blamed Goldie Hawn for him messing up Idina's name at the 2014 Oscars.
He explained: "The truth is, I was expected backstage and it was getting very close to the time I was supposed to go on and suddenly a page - an assistant to you - grabbed me and said you're on in a minute, I was like 'What happened to 15 minutes?' and they didn't explain. Later I found out my actual page got stuck in an elevator and couldn't communicate to anybody so the back-up came to get me.
"As I get backstage I run into Goldie Hawn. She's sexy, charismatic, beautiful and I was starstruck, hugging and loving her up, forgetting I had to do this bit.
"Then they were like 'OK you're on' and then they said 'Oh by the way, we've changed Idina's name to a phonetic spelling and I was like 'Wait - what do you mean?' 'Go!'
"So I go out there and I get to her thing and I go 'Huh?' In my mind I'm going 'What? What is that name? I don't know that name'. And it was this phonetic spelling, and I didn't rehearse it that way."

Rob Schrab to direct The LEGO Movie Sequel

'The LEGO Movie 2' has a new director and a new title.
Rob Schrab has been brought in to replace the previous incumbents Chris Miller and Phil Lord, who won't be returning to direct the movie, but will produce the 'The LEGO Movie Sequel' alongside Dan Lin and Roy Lee.
Greg Silverman, Warner Bros' president of creative development and worldwide production, said: "The LEGO Movie captivated critics and audiences on a global scale with its irresistible blend of humor, imagination and fun.
"Warner Bros. is excited to build our relationship with The Lego Group with this new adventure, and we join them in welcoming the multi-talented Rob Schrab to the Lego family as he takes the helm of The Lego Movie Sequel."
Schrab is best known for directing TV shows such as 'Community' and 'The Mindy Project', but the 'LEGO Movie' will represent his feature directorial debut.
'The LEGO Movie Sequel' is expected to hit cinema screens in 2018, following the release of 'Ninjago' in September 2016 and the 'LEGO Batman' movie in May 2017.
Meanwhile, Chris Miller recently confessed he's interested in making a 'Men In Black' and 'Jump Street' crossover movie.
The 39-year-old director - who helped to create the 'Jump Street' franchise - addressed the speculation that the two brands could come together, admitting: "It's a really interesting concept."

Trio return for Avengers: Age of Ultron

Anthony Mackie, Hayley Atwell and Idris Elba will all reprise their Marvel Universe characters in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron'.
A new poster previewing the much-anticipated movie has revealed that all three stars will return to the franchise, where they will star alongside the likes of Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow.
Atwell had been widely rumoured to make a cameo appearance as Peggy Carter in the film, which is set for release later this year.
What's more, the poster confirmed that Asgardian warrior Heimdall (Elba) and the Falcon (Mackie) will also both appear.
The emergence of the poster comes shortly after 'Avengers: Age Of Ultron' director Joss Whedon revealed he is using 'Godfather Part II' as his inspiration for the film.
He said that the 1974 epic crime movie is a "huge touchstone for me because you get everything you got from the first Godfather movie in a very different movie, in a movie that structurally couldn't be more different, and thematically and in intent and in mood, and yet nobody ever goes, 'It wasn't Godfathery enough'".

Eddie Redmayne losing weight for film role

Eddie Redmayne is trying to lose two stone for his next film role.
The 33-year-old star - who took home the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Steven Hawking in 'The Theory of Everything' at the Oscars on Sunday (22.02.15) - is said to be trying to slim down even more in order to play a transgender artist.
A source shared: "He's on a strict diet and has been noticeably thinner.
"He kept it under wraps during his promotional duties and Oscar campaign.
"But back in the UK, he'll be working fast to shift the rest of the weight."
The 'Jupiter Ascending' actor is slimming down to play Lili Elbe - who was one of the first men to have surgery to become a woman in 1930 - in 'The Danish Girl'.
The sourced added to The Sun newspaper: "Eddie is also working with a transgender group. He wants to embody the character."
Meanwhile, a former Eton schoolmate of the star - who was also in the same class as Prince William - has revealed how Eddie beat the 32-year-old royal in a debate on wind farms.
He told the newspaper: "There was only going to be one winner. Eddie's very bright."

James Gunn defends superhero genre

James Gunn has launched a staunch defence of superhero movies.
The 44-year-old 'Guardians of the Galaxy' director has hit back at critics of the genre, challenging them to "come out and say we're dumb" if that's what they believe.
He said: "Whatever the case, the truth is, popular fare in any medium has always been snubbed by the self-appointed elite.
"I've already won more awards than I ever expected for Guardians. What bothers me slightly is that many people assume because you make big films that you put less love, care, and thought into them [than] people do who make independent films or who make what are considered more serious Hollywood films."
Gunn called on critics to stop taking cheap shots at the genre and just admit they're not fans.
He wrote on Facebook: "If you think people who make superhero movies are dumb, come out and say we're dumb.
"But if you, as an independent filmmaker or a 'serious' filmmaker, think you put more love into your characters than the Russo Brothers do Captain America, or Joss Whedon does the Hulk, or I do a talking raccoon, you are simply mistaken."
