Gemma Arterton ‘doesn’t enjoy making blockbusters’

Gemma Arterton didn't enjoy making any of the blockbuster films she's starred in.
The 29-year-old beauty, who appeared as Strawberry Fields in the 2008 James Bond film 'Quantum of Solace' and the 2010 movie 'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time', says appearing in big budget productions helped boost her profile, but ultimately left her feeling unfulfilled.
The actress - who stars in the new black comedy 'The Voices' - told Digital Spy: "I think if the right blockbuster came up, I'd do it [now], but I didn't really enjoy any of the blockbusters that I made!
"I can say that now that they've happened, and I'm grateful for the various things that they've brought into my life, but it's not the work that I enjoy doing."
Meanwhile, Ryan Reynolds - Gemma's on-screen co-star in 'The Voices' - recently said he was as nervous singing in his new film as he would be if he was going for a "very aggressive prostate exam".
The 38-year-old actor - who is married to actress Blake Lively, with whom he has a baby daughter - plays fictional serial killer Jerry Hickfang in the film and when he was told by director Marjane Satrapi he would have to display his vocal skills he broke into a cold sweat.
He recalled: "Marjane would laugh at me with her weird expression, saying I looked like 'cold yoghurt' as I walked in to record my part.
"I had a flop sweat, I was desperately pale - it looked like I was going in for a very aggressive prostate exam."

Russell Crowe: Intuition can give us insight

Russell Crowe wanted to explore the power of intuition in his movie 'The Water Diviner'.
The 50-year-old actor stars as Joshua Connor in the movie, which is set in World War I and sees the Australian farmer travel to Turkey following the Battle of Gallipoli in 1919 to find his three missing sons.
Russell - who also directed the film - wanted to really emphasise the way the character uses his water finding skills and intuition to discover what happened to his children, because he believes intuition is one of the most important ways people interact with the world.
During an appearance on UK TV programme 'The One Show', he said: "Once you have children everything you do and how you see the world is done through the prism of having kids. There's a part of Joshua where he's strongly intuitive, his job as the water diviner yeah there's topographical things he looks for; the flow of water, where water might have gathered, where's the most logical place where water would have sunk underneath the earth. But on top of that there's a physical sensation that he receives in his body when he's actually over water. He uses those two things, the power of logic and the power of intuition in the battlefield to find his kids."
Russell - who stars in the film with Olga Kurylenko and Jai Courtney - believes it's time people stopped considering intuition to be "magical thinking" and started to look at it as something that could give us more "insight" into existence.
He added: "We use intuition in our daily lives all the time but if you talk about it then it's magical thinking. But we do it all the time, we do it in business meetings, we do it at social occasions, we are very intuitive and I think it's one of those things that maybe we should emphasise a little bit more. There's something perhaps in that intuition that might give us insight that we need."

Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis nearly hosted Academy Awards

Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis came close to hosting the Oscars in 2012.
The pair were keen to assume hosting responsibilities following the withdrawal of comedian Eddie Murphy, but their plans ultimately failed to convince producers of the show.
Of his idea, Ferrell said: "We will host the Oscars if you do a campaign that you can't find an Oscars host up until the last second.
"It's going to be a surprise and we'll walk out on stage. The whole premise of our hosting was that we were asked at the last second. So we're always flustered. We don't know the jokes. We don't know where the cameras are. We do the entire show as if it's unrehearsed."
Although producers liked the proposal, they said it wouldn't work due to marketing reasons.
Ferrell told The Huffington Post: "They said, 'Ha ha ha, we think it's so funny, but no, we have to do promos.'"
"We said, 'Why do you have to do additional things?' We gave them gold and ... they've got to be willing to be unconventional."
The pair did, however, appear on stage together at the event to present the Best Original Song award.

Batman ‘to appear in Suicide Squad movie’

Batman is to make an appearance in the 'Suicide Squad' movie.
Hollywood star Ben Affleck is set to appear as a shadowy background figure in the eagerly-awaited new movie, which will also star Will Smith and Margot Robbie, both of whom performed in the film 'Focus'.
The Latino Review blog claims Batman will feature as "some sort of big boogeyman" in the Warner Bros/DC Comics film.
Despite boasting an impressive cast, which also includes Jared Leto, details of the comic-inspired movie remain a closely-guarded secret.
In fact, Will Smith suggested he'd be forced to "kill" anyone who learnt details of the film.
Asked whether he could speak about 'Suicide Squad', Will said: "No sir, I'd have to kill you. It's top secret but it's really good, though. It's great stuff, fantastic. I'm already in shape for it, I'm already training."
Meanwhile, Jared Leto recently said he needs to bulk up to play the Joker in the forthcoming 'Suicide Squad' film, but the actor - who is vegan, meaning he doesn't consume animal products - is finding it hard to gain weight.

Clint Eastwood claims American Sniper is an ‘anti-war’ film

Clint Eastwood thinks 'American Sniper' carries an "anti-war" message.
The 84-year-old film-maker helmed the controversial biographical war drama about Chris Kyle, the most lethal sniper in US military history, but has refuted accusations the movie glorifies war and killing.
Asked if his film gives a skewed idea of warfare, Clint said: "I think it's nice for veterans, because it shows what they go through, and that life - and the wives and families of veterans. It has a great indication of the stresses they are under.
"And I think that all adds up to kind of an anti-war [message]."
His remarks come shortly after Bradley Cooper - who plays the lead role in the movie - expressed surprise that the film had created such a storm.
The 40-year-old actor said "any discussion" about the "plight" of the nation's military should be welcomed.
He explained: "You never know when you make a movie if anybody's going to see it, so to have the audacity to think that it would cause any sort of effect at all would be pretty presumptuous.
"Any discussion that sheds light on the plight of the soldiers and the men and women in the armed services, for that discussion to occur is fantastic."

Emma Thompson to play Mrs. Potts in Beauty and the Beast

Emma Thompson will play Mrs. Potts in Disney's live-action 'Beauty and the Beast'.
The 55-year-old actress will star in the role that was voiced by Angela Lansbury in the 1991 original animated film, while Kevin Kline has been lined up to play Maurice, Belle's father.
What's more, Disney has confirmed the eagerly-awaited movie will feature songs from the original film, as well as new tunes written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman.
The casting of the award-winning actress comes after it was announced former 'Harry Potter' star Emma Watson would take on the lead role of Belle in the upcoming live-action adaptation of the Disney classic.
Emma, 24, could barely contain her excitement about playing the iconic princess in the Bill Condon-directed picture when she broke the news to her fans on her Facebook page.
She said: "I'm finally able to tell you... that I will be playing Belle in Disney's new live-action Beauty and the Beast! It was such a big part of my growing up, it almost feels surreal that I'll get to dance to 'Be Our Guest' and sing 'Something There'.
"My six year old self is on the ceiling - heart bursting. Time to start some singing lessons. I can't wait for you to see it. Emma xx"
