Downton Abbey ‘could become a movie’

'Downton Abbey' could be turned into a movie.
The popular ITV period drama is set to conclude at the end of the next season, but Gareth Neame - the executive producer of 'Downton' - has revealed plans are currently being considered to make a feature film based on the hit TV show.
He said: "I can confirm that there have been rumours that there might be a Downton movie.
"Our position on that is that would be very interested. It is definitely something that we're contemplating.
"It would be great fun to do. I think it would be a wonderful extension of everything people love about the TV show. But I can't confirm that it's definitely going to happen. It would take a lot of planning and thinking about. We shall see."
What's more, he also refused to rule out a spin-off of the original show, which starred Hugh Bonneville and Dame Maggie Smith.
He said: "There has again been endless speculation about this.
"There are no definite plans for a spin-off. [But] again, I can't rule this out."
The award-winning show helped launch the career of 'Cinderella' star Lily James and counts the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge among its celebrity fans.

Amanda Seyfried shunned hard audition

Amanda Seyfried didn't audition for 'Into the Woods' because it was "so hard".
The 29-year-old actress had been planning to go for the part of Cinderella - which subsequently went to Anna Kendrick - in the fairytale movie musical but eventually decided not to even try out for the part.
She admitted: "I was working on 'On the Steps of the Palace' with my voice coach.
"I remember one day I was singing it and I was like, 'No. I can't. I can't do it - I can't get it. This is so hard. I'm not auditioning for it.' "
While she didn't go for that role, the 'Les Miserables' star is dreaming of playing Glinda in a movie adaptation of Broadway show 'Wicked' - a musical based on the events before 'The Wizard of Oz' - which producer Marc Platt is planning for 2016.
She told 'Entertainment Tonight': "I might be too old when they make it. Or if they make it sooner than later, maybe I'm not the right person.
"I just still- I want it. I want to present myself and be a good candidate."

Beyonce to star in Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut?

Beyonce is wanted to star in Bradley Cooper's directorial debut.
The 40-year-old actor is set to step behind the camera on the remake of 'A Star Is Born' and Warner Bros. - the studio responsible for the film - intends to approach the 'Drunk In Love' singer about a starring role in the eagerly-awaited project.
The 33-year-old entertainer was wanted to star in a Clint Eastwood-directed remake of the movie in 2011, but her schedule didn't allow for it to happen.
And although she's still to be officially approached for the film, Deadline reports that the studio is determined to secure her services.
Meanwhile, director Adam McKay revealed recently that Beyonce could also be set to star in 'The Big Short'.
She is rumoured to have joined the star-studded cast - along with Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling and Oscar nominee Steve Carell - for the film adaptation of Michael Lewis' book of the same name about the credit bubble.
Speaking about the film, McKay reflected: "An incredible cast... Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling, Steve Carell... And I think Beyonce."
Beyonce last appeared on the big screen in 2009 when she starred in 'Obsessed'.

Steven Spielberg to direct Ready Player One

Steven Spielberg is to direct 'Ready Player One'.
The 68-year-old film-maker, who's previously directed iconic movies such as 'Jaws', 'Jurassic Park' and 'E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial', has agreed to helm the much-anticipated project based on the popular sci-fi book by Ernest Cline, which is set in a virtual world.
'Ready Player One' marks Spielberg's return to the Warner Bros. studio after a 14-year absence and Greg Silverman, the studio's president of creative development and worldwide production, is delighted to welcome him back.
He said: "We are thrilled to welcome Steven back to Warner Bros.
"We had an historic series of collaborations in the 1980s and 1990s and have wanted to bring him back for years. As for 'Ready Player One', we have always felt that Steven was the dream director for this project."
Interestingly, Spielberg and some of his films - including 'E.T.' and the 'Indiana Jones' franchise - are mentioned in the 2011 book.
Meanwhile, it was recently reported that Warner Bros. are also working on a deal that will see Spielberg and Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence collaborate on a new biopic.
The duo are wanted for the film titled 'It's What I Do: A Photographer's Life Of Love And War', which is based on a memoir by Lynsey Addario and has been excerpted by The New York Times Magazine

Sam Taylor-Johnson quits Fifty Shades franchise

Sam Taylor-Johnson will not be returning to direct the next movie in the 'Fifty Shades' franchise.
The 48-year-old film-maker helmed 'Fifty Shades of Grey' and was in pole position to direct 'Fifty Shades Darker', but has decided to walk away from the much-discussed franchise after she was involved in a number of disagreements with author E.L. James, who wrote the best-selling books.
She told Us Weekly: "Directing Fifty Shades of Grey has been an intense and incredible journey for which I am hugely grateful.
"I have Universal to thank for that. I forged close and lasting relationships with the cast, producers and crew and most especially, with Dakota [Johnson] and Jamie [Dornan].
"While I will not be returning to direct the sequels, I wish nothing but success to whosoever takes on the exciting challenges of films two and three."
Taylor-Johnson recently confessed she found it tough working with E.L. James on the movie.
She admitted: "We definitely fought, but they were creative fights and we would resolve them.
"We would have proper on-set barneys, and I'm not confrontational, but it was about finding a way between the two of us, satisfying her vision of what she'd written as well as my need to visualise this person on screen, but, you know, we got there."

Simon Pegg found Star Wars: The Force Awakens filming ‘overwhelming’

Simon Pegg found it "overwhelming" being on the set of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'.
The 45-year-old actor has been coy on whether he has a cameo in the eagerly anticipated movie, but admitted he visited the set on several occasions and believes the film will be "extraordinary".
He explained: "I spent a lot of time on set, that's for sure, because obviously Pinewood [studio] is just down the road for me. So I went to visit and it was quite wonderful to behold. I'm very, very excited. I think J.J.'s nailed it with aplomb. You only have to watch the teaser to know that. Everything that it promises, it delivers, and more. It's going to be extraordinary."
Due to be released in December, the film - which will see Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher reprise their roles - was emotional to film for many of the cast and crew because of the franchise's legacy.
He told Total Film magazine: "There was a great sense of excitement on the set. A lot of the crew's parents worked on the original, and everyone was so invested because they cared so deeply about it.
"It's overwhelming. There were tears often shed from various people. I remember Kevin Smith came to visit and he saw a Stormtrooper and started crying! It means so much. It's such an incredibly weighty thing, in terms of cinema. It's why we are where we are right now, for better or for worse. It has great significance for all of us."

Kate Beckinsale: No breaks on The Face of an Angel

Kate Beckinsale says she and her co-stars were not allowed any breaks on the set of 'The Face of an Angel'.
The 41-year-old actress plays journalist Simone Ford in the psychological thriller - which is inspired by the real life story of Amanda Knox who was accused of the murder of Meredith Kercher in 2007 - and has revealed director Michael Winterbottom prefers to work "short days" meaning there was no time for a proper lunch.
Speaking about working with the filmmaker, she said: "He works quite short days which is quite nice but there's no breaks, there's no lunch break, there's no sitting down, nobody's got a chair, nobody's got a trailer, nobody's got anything like that."
Beckinsale also revealed Winterbottom expected the cast to stay in character while shooting, which left little time for fun on set.
In an interview with 'Lorraine', she said: "You turn up and you put a microphone on the minute you get there and that's on all day and it's turned on all day. There's not a ton of hijinks because you are sort of encouraged to be in character as much as you possibly can."
Beckinsale stars in the movie - out this month - with Daniel Brühl, Cara Delevingne and Genevieve Gaunt.
