Samuel L Jackson ‘honoured’ to play Nick Fury

Samuel L. Jackson feels 'honoured' to play Nick Fury.
The 66-year-old actor - who has starred as the comic book character in the 'Iron Man', 'Captain America' and 'Avengers' franchises - has confessed he is "grateful" to have landed the part and is in no rush to give up the role.
The star - who is also known for his portrayal of the Jedi Master Mace Windu in the 'Star Wars' series - said: "It's an amazing honour to be that guy, to be Nick Fury, to be in that particular world, and to be a character that people believe. It's great.
"I'm as grateful for being in that, as I was being in 'Star Wars' with [director] George [Lucas] and to play a character that people remember, like Mace Windu.
"It's all great. It's hard not to be a part of something that you know, if people study film for the next 200 years, they'll be talking about 'Star Wars' and 'The Avengers' series, and all that stuff."
Although the BAFTA-winner's character is noticeably absent from the upcoming 'Captain America: Civil War', which is due out in 2016, he is hoping Marvel will extend his contract.
He told Collider.com: "It's really great to be the connective tissue between so many different characters in so many different films, that brings those guys together. But I'm not in Captain America 3. I can't figure that out, but I'm not.
"Of course [I'm interested in returning]! I'm looking for a contract extension right now, yeah. I'm looking to re-up."

Paul Feig voices support for female-led comedies

Paul Feig has insisted "funny women can make money".
The 52-year-old director - who helmed new action comedy film 'Spy', which stars Melissa McCarthy, Jason Statham and Rose Byrne, and the 2011 hit 'Bridesmaids' - has reiterated his view that female-led comedies can be profitable.
He told the Guardian newspaper: "'Bridesmaids' showed people that movies starring a lot of women, funny women can make money. I think it's easy for a while to go, you know, 'Maybe it was just a fluke'. It throws me that they're so slow on the uptake.
"Again, it's been proven as 'Pitch Perfect 2' has just made a bazillion dollars. So I just hope that we can end the debate and just have more projects."
Meanwhile, Paul recently revealed the crucial role swearing played in his new movie.
He shared: "Swearing is an art form and I had some really good minds on it. People were always giving me jokes and coming up with different creative ways to do it.
"When we first started (filming) I said to Jason (Statham), 'Say f**k here!' and he goes, 'Oh, we can swear?' Once I said yes they could swear then the floodgates just opened. He's another amazing swearer and who knew Rose Byrne would be such a great swearer?"

Dornan and Johnson haven’t signed on for ‘Grey’

Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson haven't signed on to star in the 'Fifty Shades of Grey' spin-off.
Author EL James, who penned the best-selling trilogy, announced earlier this week that she is working on a new book, 'Grey,' from the perspective of billionaire S&M enthusiast Christian Grey and has reportedly already sold the rights to Universal.
But a source told The Hollywood Reporter that the 33-year-old actor, who plays Christian, and the 25-year-old actress, who plays submissive heroine Anastasia Steele, are currently only contracted to appear in three films based on the trilogy, so there are no guarantees they will star in a future adaptation of the upcoming novel.
The insider also claims that neither of the stars had any idea that another book, which would likely serve as the fourth film in the franchise, was even being written.
While Universal declined to comment on plans for the project, the source claims the 'Grey' movie will more than likely go ahead since the first film generated $570 million at the box office worldwide.
The second film, 'Fifty Shades Darker,' has yet to begin filming, but is already scheduled to be released on February 10, 2017, while the third film, 'Fifty Shades Freed,' is set to be released on February 9, 2018.
Northern Irish heartthrob Jamie was previously forced to deny rumours he was planning to quit the risky films.
He said: "The idea was that we honour the trilogy and do all three [movies]."
Asked whether his wife, Amelia Warner, was keen for him to quit the role because of the explicit sex scenes, he replied: "Total b*****ks!"

James Bond franchise ‘could move studios’

The James Bond movie franchise could reportedly be about to move from Sony Pictures to another Hollywood studio.
The eagerly-awaited 'Spectre' is the last scheduled film for the studio and it's been speculated the brand will soon switch to Warner Bros because of the close relationship between the company's Chief Executive, Kevin Tsujihara, and MGM Chief Gary Barber.
Tom Rothman, Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group Chairman, has admitted the company faces a stiff fight to keep hold of Bond, telling Variety: "The reality is that Sony's had a fantastic run with the Bonds.
"Sure we're going to compete for (the rights), but let's be honest, so is everybody in the business."
Sony's multi-picture pact saw the studio create a number of recent Bond movies starring Daniel Craig, including 'Casino Royale', 'Quantum of Solace' and 'Skyfall'.
Earlier this week, Jason Statham claimed he'd make a "decent" James Bond, but conceded his version would be markedly different to that portrayed by Daniel Craig.
He said: "Could I do it? Abso-f***ing-lutely. Would I do it? Abso-f***ing-lutely. Is Daniel Craig a great Bond? Abso-f***ing-lutely.
"Yeah, I'd make a decent Bond. But it'd be very, very different if I did it."

Olivia Wilde happy Tron 3 was axed

Olivia Wild is happy 'Tron 3' was axed because she hated living on a diet of tofu and seaweed juice.
The 'Tron: Legacy' star has taken to Twitter to express her relief that the next film in the franchise has been scrapped, because of the strict food regime she had to follow for the role.
Following Disney's announcement that the film had been culled, the 31-year-old actress posted to Twitter: "Tron fans! Don't trip. Now I don't have to live on seaweed juice and tofu dust for 6 months to fit into a rubber suit. (sic)"
The sci-fi feature film is said to have been axed because Disney wanted to focus more of its resources on live adaptations of its classic animated movies.
One of these films is the eagerly-awaited new 'Beauty and the Beast', which will feature 'Harry Potter' star Emma Watson and Dan Stevens.
Although Olivia is happy to see 'Tron 3' scrapper, her outlook is not shared by fans of the franchise.
It has come to light that disappointed fans have signed a petition on the internet, with as many as 18,000 signatures protesting and calling on Disney to reconsider its plan to abandon the film.

Spectre filming ‘upsets residents’

Filming on 'Spectre' is set to disturb some London residents.
People living around the area of Millbank, near the Tate Gallery, have received e-mails informing them that the much-anticipated new Bond movie will be shooting outside apartments in their neighborhood from June 6 until June 8, and again from June 13 until June 15.
The residents have been told that lights and generators will be running during the filming, with the movie crew set to work through the night from 6pm until 7am.
One resident told the New York Post's Page Six column that the email had been sent in order to reduce the number of complaints received further down the line.
This comes shortly after Daniel Craig and other members of the Bond crew disturbed residents on London's River Thames by filming a helicopter and speedboat chase for the Sam Mendes-directed 'Spectre'.
In May, locals living near the location were left struggling to sleep when the helicopter circled above their homes until midnight.
At the time, one Twitter user wrote: "Really really loud James Bond helicopter over my house.
"Super cool that there's a new Bond film . . . Less so when it means a helicopter circling your flat. (sic)"

Clint Eastwood’s new film based on real-life hero

Clint Eastwood's new film will be a real-life tale of an heroic pilot.
The 85-year-old filmmaker has been tasked with directing 'Miracle on the Hudson', which is based on Captain Chesley 'Sully' Sullenberger's memoirs from landing a US flight in New York's Hudson River in 2009, which saved 155 passengers' lives.
Sullenberger said he is "very glad" the filmmaker - whose last movie was 2014's 'American Sniper' - has been chosen to head up the film and considers his story to be in the hands of a "gifted" director.
The pilot said: "I am very glad my story is in the hands of gifted storyteller and filmmaker Clint Eastwood, and veteran producers Allyn Stewart and Frank Marshall.
"The project could not have found a better home than Warner Bros. Pictures. This is truly a dream team."
Meanwhile, Greg Silverman, Warner Bros. President, said: "Simply put, Clint Eastwood is at the top of his game, not to mention a global treasure.
"On the heels of his extraordinary work in 'American Sniper', it is tremendously exciting to see him explore the life of another captivating true-life hero.
"It is also great to be collaborating with Frank Marshall and Allyn Stewart to produce this compelling script by Todd Komarnicki."
Filming is planned to commence in autumn 2015.

Aloha director defends casting Emma Stone

Cameron Crowe has defended casting Emma Stone in 'Aloha'.
The 57-year-old director came under fire when it was revealed the 'Birdman' star was to play Hawaiian Captain Allison NG in the comedy drama as many deemed the flame-haired beauty's look unsuitable for the role.
However, Crowe has spoken out against his critics and insisted Emma, 26, was perfect for the part as the woman on which the character was based was a redhead herself.
He wrote on his blog The Uncool: "I have heard your words and your disappointment, and I offer you a heart-felt apology to all who felt this was an odd or misguided casting choice. As far back as 2007, Captain Allison Ng was written to be a super-proud quarter Hawaiian who was frustrated that, by all outward appearances, she looked nothing like one.
"A half-Chinese father was meant to show the surprising mix of cultures often prevalent in Hawaii. Extremely proud of her unlikely heritage, she feels personally compelled to over-explain every chance she gets. The character was based on a real-life, red-headed local who did just that."
Although many Hawaiian locals were cast in other roles in the film, Crowe goes on to apologise for any offence he caused by choosing Arizona-born Emma for the part.
He added: "If any part of her fine characterisation has caused consternation and controversy, I am the one to blame."

Paul Feig: Swearing is an artform

Paul Feig thinks "swearing is an artform".
The 52-year-old star - who directed new action comedy film 'Spy' - has revealed the central role cursing played in his latest movie, which features Melissa McCarthy, Jude Law and Jason Statham.
He explained: "Swearing is an art form and I had some really good minds on it.
Paul also revealed himself to be a huge fan of the 'Carry On' franchise, but said he'd be reluctant to make another film in the iconic franchise without Sid James and Kenneth Williams.
He told 6Tribes: "I'm obsessed with the Carry On movies. Would I make one? Hmmmm, it is tempting ... but with Sid (James) gone ... I don't know if you could and without Kenneth Williams too."
