Paul Rudd respects ants

Paul Rudd has developed a new-found respect for ants since starring in Marvel's 'Ant-Man'.
The 46-year-old actor, who plays the central character in the new superhero film, has revealed the movie has caused him to be more considerate of the insects.
Speaking yesterday (07.07.15) at the Corinthia Hotel in London, he told BANG Showbiz: "Not trying to sound cute or anything, but even last week, I was standing by the sink and some ants started walking towards the coffee maker as I was making coffee.
"Maybe in an earlier time I would have just given them a little flick ... now I absolutely let them do what they want to do and I stand back."
Paul also revealed that as a child, he was a keen fan of the British comic books The Beano and The Dandy.
He shared: "I had comics and I had some Marvel comics. But I was a casual reader. For a while I was kinda into the Hulk, primarily because of the television show, really. And so I read some of the superhero comics and some of the Marvel comics.
"I read more English comics, actually. My aunt and uncle would send me these comics from here called The Beano and Dandy - and I grew up with those characters. I was into, like, Rodger the Dodger more than the Marvel Comics."

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller to make Han Solo spin-off

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are to make a 'Star Wars' spin-off film about Han Solo.
The directing duo - who helmed 'The Lego Movie' in 2014 - have joined forces with Lucasfilm for an Anthology spin-off based around young Han Solo, with the movie set for release in May 2018.
They said: "This is the first film we've worked on that seems like a good idea to begin with. We promise to take risks, to give the audience a fresh experience, and we pledge ourselves to be faithful stewards of these characters who mean so much to us.
"This is a dream come true for us. And not the kind of dream where you're late for work and all your clothes are made of pudding, but the kind of dream where you get to make a film with some of the greatest characters ever, in a film franchise you've loved since before you can remember having dreams at all."
Screenwriters Lawrence Kasdan and his son Jon Kasdan are set to explore the origins of Han Solo, and they're both thoroughly looking forward to working with the acclaimed directors.
They said: "They're two of the smartest, funniest and most original filmmakers around, and the ideal choice to tell the story of Han Solo, one of the coolest characters in the galaxy."

Paul Rudd was ‘miserable’ preparing to play Ant-Man

Paul Rudd didn't do "anything fun for a year" while he prepared to play Ant-Man.
The 46-year-old actor has revealed he spent 12 months getting into shape for his role as the Marvel superhero during which his strict diet and exercise regime left him feeling miserable.
He said: "I didn't do anything fun for a year. I ate no carbs or sugar. I basically made health and fitness the focus of my day, for a long time.
"Like, we'd work out with a trainer and I worked with a guy who was doing tumbling and taught how to do flips and stuff like that. I was eating a lot of protein and vegetables. I was eating at very specific times of the day and I didn't drink any alcohol. I was miserable for about a year."
However, the 'This Is 40' star credits all the hard work he put in in the gym for helping him get into the role and added he would have felt like an "imposter" if he hadn't been in peak physical condition to play the character.
Speaking during a press conference for 'Ant-Man' at London's Corinthia Hotel yesterday (07.07.15) he said: "I knew I was going to be held accountable, so that made it a little easier. But I'd never done anything like that before to that extreme. Having the majority of my day built around that, instead of making fitness something I tried to build in as I went about my day was great.
"I woke up very early in the morning, I had lots of energy. It helped me to get into the mindset of this character. I figured if I'm in really good shape, I'd feel like less of an imposter in the role."

Rachel McAdams ‘in talks over Doctor Strange role’

Rachel McAdams is reportedly in talks to star in Marvel's 'Doctor Strange'.
The 36-year-old actress - whose previous credits include 'The Notebook' and 'Mean Girls' - is wanted to play the part of the female lead in the much-anticipated new movie starring Benedict Cumberbatch, Heroic Hollywood reports.
Other stars linked to a role in the movie in recent times include Tilda Swinton and '12 Years A Slave' actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, who is reportedly being lined up for the part supervillain Baron Mordo.
Rumours of Rachel's casting come shortly after she admitted to feeling concerned about being typecast or "only doing blockbusters".
Reflecting on her rise, Rachel shared: "I got a little freaked out. I didn't quite know what I was getting into. It felt like I was being swept up by this current and I wasn't sure what I wanted out of it. I got worried about being typecast or suddenly only doing blockbusters. I felt like I wasn't on solid ground for a bit there, and I wanted to check back in with me."
Rachel also said she makes a conscious effort to not get swept up by fame and has become more picky about the films she chooses to appear in.
She said: "I have to fill my cup back up sometimes and get back to normal life if I'm going to portray normal life."

Andy Garcia cast in Ghostbusters reboot

Andy Garcia has been cast in Paul Feig's 'Ghostbusters' reboot.
The 59-year-old star, who appeared in the 'Godfather' franchise, is to appear alongside the likes of Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon in the eagerly-awaited new sci-fi movie from Sony.
The Cuban-American actor will play the part of the Mayor of New York City, while Michael Kenneth Williams of 'Boardwalk Empire' and HBO series 'The Wire' has also been added to the project, according to TheWrap.
The rumours come shortly after Emma Stone said she turned down a role in 'Ghostbusters' because it was too "big" a commitment.
The actress was approached to take on a role in the all-female reboot of the movie series, but politely declined, despite being impressed by the script.
She shared: "The script was really funny. It just didn't feel like the right time for me. A franchise is a big commitment--it's a whole thing. I think maybe I need a minute before I dive back into that water."
Meanwhile, Kevin Feig, who directed Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy in the blockbuster 'Bridesmaids', has been teasing fans with details of the new movie over the last few weeks, posting pictures of jumpsuits and the iconic proton packs.

Matt Bomer: I almost played Superman

Matt Bomer came close to securing the role of Superman.
The 37-year-old actor - who stars alongside Channing Tatum in 'Magic Mike XXL' - has revealed he was cast as the iconic superhero in the early 2000s for a film to be directed by Brett Ratner - but the project ultimately fell apart.
He shared: "Brett chose me for the project and then it all fell apart.
"It was a very lengthy process to get the role, I think it was over the course of three months because I went in in a cattle call. It sort of evolved from there.
"It was a month of, 'Okay, looks like this is going to happen'. And then it slowly fell apart."
However, Matt insisted he has no regrets over not playing the part of Superman.
He told the Happy Sad Confused podcast: "I have zero regrets about that, I feel like I've gotten to do such a rich array of roles in so many different things.
"I haven't been too locked in ... I mean that's a very iconic role to portray, to suddenly be that character in everyone's minds forever."

Angelina Jolie to make Catherine the Great biopic?

Angelina Jolie is seemingly planning to make a biopic of Catherine the Great.
The 40-year-old star - who directed the war-sports drama 'Unbroken' last year - is set to make a biopic of the 18th-century empress of Russia after her production company, Jolie Pas, bought an option on Simon Sebag Montefiore's book 'Catherine the Great & Potemkin: The Imperial Love Affair'.
The movie's central character will be the longest-ruling female sovereign in Russia's history, who led a war against the Ottoman Empire before her death in 1796.
News of the project comes shortly after Angelina's husband Brad Pitt signed a deal with Netflix to produce and star in online comedy 'War Machine'.
Under the terms of the deal, Netflix has agreed to fund and distribute the film, with the joint business venture said to be worth as much as $30 million.
Reflecting on the deal, a senior box office analyst said: "No big screen star is going to completely give up the big screen, but it's just a natural evolution of how content is delivered and how the audience consumes it. The ability for Netflix to reach into so many homes and be on so many devices has become very appealing to a star or producer."

Amy Winehouse ‘was more unwell than many thought’

'Amy' director Asif Kapadia believes Amy Winehouse was more unwell than many thought.
The London-born film-maker has claimed that Amy, who died in 2011, aged 27, suffered brain damage as a result of her alcohol and drug binges.
He told The Sun newspaper: "We can say she had a mental illness and brain damage that came from all the overdoses and seizures she had over the years.
"That definitely affected her brain. She wasn't thinking straight.
"But there was enough in her that she was making choices and people around her were making choices that, even if she hadn't become a huge star, there's still the potential she could have chosen that path."
This comes shortly after Mark Ronson, a friend and collaborator, admitted he found it "tough" watching the movie, but said he was pleased his wife Josephine de La Baume was able to learn more about Amy.
He shared: "Obviously, it's tough to watch the film because it brings back memories.
"But what I love about it is that my wife never got to meet Amy and I am always telling her stories about us in the studio and the clever, witty things that Amy would say.
"We watched it and my wife said, 'Now I get it, now I see the Amy you talked about'. I forget that not everyone got to see that side of her."

Matt Bomer: Channing Tatum’s Pony dance made Magic Mike a success

Matt Bomer has accredited 'Magic Mike's' success to Channing Tatum's 'Pony' dance.
The 37-year-old actor - who appears alongside Channing in the original movie and the latest instalment 'Magic Mike XXL' - has revealed watching the 35-year-old star's "body defy gravity" while dancing to Ginuwine's hit song was when he realised that the film about male strippers was going to be something special.
Matt said: "I knew (the film would be a hit) the first time I saw Channing rehearse the 'Pony' number. I knew he was an amazing dancer and I knew his charisma onscreen is great. But when I saw him do that, and I saw his body defy gravity, I was so thoroughly entertained on an audience level. I was just like, 'How does somebody do that?'"
However, while the 'In Time' star realised 'Magic Mike' would be a hit, he wasn't prepared for just quite how many people would see him stripping off.
Speaking to Collider.com, Matt said: "I thought I was part of this really gritty girlfriend experience, and then all of a sudden it was this big studio summer release and I was like, 'Oh, more people are going to see me naked than I thought! This is great.'"
