Tom Cruise has confirmed 'Mission: Impossible 6' is in pre-production stages.
The 'Edge of Tomorrow' star was promoting the current 'Mission: Impossible - Rouge Nation', while on America's 'The Daily Show' when he shared progress has been made on the next film in the franchise.
He said: "We're starting to work on it now. We'll probably start shooting it next summer."
However, Paramount are yet to comment on the actor's claims.
Meanwhile, the 53-year-old actor also hinted it would be "fun" to reprise his role in 'Top Gun'.
He shared: "It would be fun. I would like to get back into those jets."
But he previously said he would only want to take the role back if it's shot "like the first one"
Tom said: "It would have to be practical. I don't want any CGI jets. I want to shoot it like how we shot the first one."
The film's producer, David Ellison also commented on a possible 'Top Gun 2' and Tom Cruise starring in it again.
He shared: "I think this is a movie that should be in 3D and in Imax, and again something that you can shoot practically. As everyone knows with Tom, he is 100% going to want to be in those airplanes, shooting it practically."

Jesse Eisenberg found not being friends with Jason Segel "effective" for their new movie 'The End Of The Tour'.
The two actors had met only once before they started shooting the film - which focuses on real events involving Rolling Stone writer David Lipsky interviewing author David Foster Wallace before he committed suicide in 2008 - due to Jason's commitments to the TV show 'How I Met Your Mother'.
However, Jesse revealed he thought the fact he didn't know his 35-year-old co-star helped them portray the relationship of the characters in the film.
The 31-year-old 'Social Network' actor said: "There was no rehearsal, but it was fine.
"I mean, we were not playing long-time friends. Even if we were, we could probably have figured it out. But we were playing people who spent a lot of time figuring each other out and strategizing and being curious about the other person, so it seemed to be effective."
The 'Adventureland' star went on to admit the 'End Of The Tour' director James Ponsoldt was not as laid back as he'd expected him to be on the set of the film.
Speaking to ComingSoon.net, Jesse said: "I thought (he was down-to-earth) too until I worked with him and realized he's a very hard-working guy. He has more enthusiasm than anyone on set.
"In person, I guess he seems like the kind of guy who I would not think to put 15 hours into something in negative ten-degree weather, because he just seems kind of casual, but when it comes to actually making the movie-he's still very sweet and funny, a genial guy-but I think he becomes really focused."

Joanna Lumley will start shooting the 'Absolutely Fabulous' film in October.
The 69-year-old actress, who plays Patsy Stone, has revealed she will begin work on the eagerly anticipated feature film in October, after her co-star Jennifer Saunders completed the script.
She revealed: "She has written it, and it'd be wrong for me to say that I've completely read it because I think it's been changing, but we are starting filming it on October 12th."
The production will be the first time Patsy and her pal Edina Monsoon - played by Jennifer - have appeared in a feature-length film, having previously featured in fives series' of the BBC sitcom, which began in 1992.
Joanna - who today has launched the Spark Something Good initiative along with M&S CEO Marc Bolland, aimed at inspiring the British public to donate time to their local community - also teased fans will see all of the original cast return as well as special cameos, with the stars set to film in the south of France.
She explained: "We are all there, the same old gang. Lots of people you will have seen in it before. I think we are going down to the south of France to do some of the shooting there ... It'll all be shot on location. It is going to be ravishingly funny! Very gorgeous and completely fabulous!"
And although the star has spent years sporadically reprising her role as the chain-smoking socialite, she admitted her classic beehive hairstyle would be too annoying to achieve each day so is planning on wearing a wig.
Speaking on ITV's 'This Morning', she said: "I usually use my own hair, and that's usually for one show a week in front of an audience, but when you're shooting for seven or eight weeks every day, I think I'll give it a bit of a break. Jennifer calls it Mr Whippy!"

Chris Hemsworth had to model a range of prosthetic penises for his new movie.
The writers and co-producers behind adventure comedy 'Vacation', John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein, have revealed one scene required the hunk to walk around wearing tight underwear stuffed with the fake member, which was preceded by a strange meeting where he tried several on for size.
Jonathan explained: "We went to a room with him and he modelled a couple of options for us."
John added: "It was the weirdest couple of hours."
However, the 31-year-old actor - who plays a weatherman married to Audrey Griswold (Leslie Mann) in the film - confessed he was left blushing by the bizarre session because he felt "intimidated" by the strange situation.
He said: "It was embarrassing. It was hilarious and probably more for other people than me ... I was intimidated by that set and scene."
But they eventually agreed the biggest possible representation of his manhood was perfect for the scene.
Chris quipped: "It's part of character development. We went bold, ya know - big and bold."
And fellow actor in the movie, Ed Helms, joked he wasn't surprised by the size of the enormous prosthetic because it was based on his own genitals.
He told E! Online: "I knew exactly how big it would be because it was moulded off of me. That's how we do it, [but] I had no idea his abs would be that amazing. I actually washed my clothes on his abs."

Radiohead are new favourites to have recorded the theme tune for the new James Bond film 'Spectre'.
The 'Fake Plastic Trees' band have overtaken Ellie Goulding as the most likely act to have worked on the coveted song, following a bet of £15,000 placed on the group by an anonymous customer in Middlesex, which has led bookmakers William Hill to suspend betting on the subject.
William Hill spokesperson Rupert Adams said: "The first gamble of the day was Ellie Goulding and punters were backing her as if she already had the gig but just as we were thinking of pulling the plug we had a load of bets for Radiohead including one customer who asked to place a £15,000 bet on the band at 10/1.
"There seem to be all kinds of rumours and the plot has had more twists and turns than a classic Bond tale, but surely nobody risks £15,000 on a hunch."
However, Ellie further fuelled speculation she had recorded the 'Spectre' theme yesterday (28.07.15) when she posted an image of herself leaving London's famous Abbey Road Studios on Instagram, as the tracks are typically recorded there.
Alongside the photo, she wrote: "That's a wrap!"
Several commenters were quick to make the association between the location and the upcoming Bond movie, which will be released in October.
One excited fan wrote: "THATS ABBEY ROAD STUDIOS WHERE THEY RECORD THE JAMES BOND THEMES AAAHAHAAH (sic)."

Cara Delevingne was told to "take a little nap" and "get a Red Bull" during an interview about 'Paper Towns'.
The model-turned-actress was on American breakfast show 'Good Day Sacramento' to promote her new flick and after the interview became awkward, the TV anchors made little digs at the star.
Towards the end of their talk, was when it became most heated.
When the show's anchors asked if Cara was annoyed, she said: "No, I think it's just you."
To which they responded: "We'll let you go then, how 'bout that?" one anchor said. "Why don't you go take a little nap, maybe get a Red Bull?"
The interview got off to a bad start as they introduced her as "Carla".
The show's host persisted and asked if she found it hard focusing on several projects at one time.
She responded: "No. I don't know where that comes from."
The 22-year-old beauty then gave several sarcastic responses, including about her 'Paper Town's character, Margo.
Asked if she can relate to her, Cara joked: "No, I actually hate her."
Variety reported that the hosts apparently continued to make digs about Cara off the camera.
An anchor said: "You make $5 million for six weeks of work, you can pretend to talk to 'Good Day Sacramento' with some 'oomph'!"

Jake Gyllenhaal was "terrified (he'd) look like an idiot" playing a boxer in 'Southpaw'.
The 34-year-old actor is portraying light-heavyweight champ Billy Hope in the new boxing film, and has admitted he bulked up for the role, because he wanted to know how it felt to be hit, so he could play the part better.
Jake said: "I didn't know how to box and I was just terrified that I'd look like an idiot in the ring. That was a motivation for me getting in shape.
"I don't think you can claim you're a boxer without knowing how it feels to be hit."
The 'Donnie Darko' star spent five months in the gym to play his part in 'Southpaw', which involved two punishing three-hour workouts seven days a week and 2,000 sit-ups a day, and has admitted it meant he had no social life.
Speaking to the Telegraph newspaper, Jake said: "The first part of the day was all technique, learning how to throw punches, footwork, and the second part of the day was getting into shape and getting ready for sparring.
"A physical transformation was key to making the character credible. I didn't spend much time doing anything else or socialising in any other way."
