Mariah Carey will direct and star in a Christmas movie.
The 45-year-old singer has never before taken a directorial role in films but has enlisted the help of 'Rush Hour' director Brett Ratner - the man behind her hit music videos 'We Belong Together' and 'Obsessed' - who will be her producer on the project.
Taking to Instagram to share her excitement about the film, she wrote: "Can't wait to share my directorial debut with my lambs, on the Hallmark channel! Here I am at the announcement party. Look out for my Christmas movie this December."
The film is set for release in December on the Hallmark channel.
Rumours of the star's directorial debut circulated in April but confirmation the project was going ahead was only announced at a launch party for the 'Mariah Carey's Christmas Project' on Thursday night (30.07.15).
Filming for the straight-to-television project is due to start this autumn but no hints have been given about the storyline.
The pop singer's previous acting roles include a school teacher in 2009's 'Precious'.

Robin Wright doesn't believe she is a great actress.
The modest Hollywood star has had a string of successful movies in her career since starring in 'The Princess Bride' in 1987, including 'Forrest Gump' and 'Moneyball', and she has wowed audiences in Netflix drama 'House of Cards' as the icy First Lady.
Despite the success she has enjoyed, Robin doesn't think she is one of the best actresses of her generation.
In an interview with ES Magazine, she said: "I'm not a great actress. I think I did one thing really well. But I am not a great, versatile actress. Tilda Swinton is, she's an animal. Meryl Streep - phenomenal. That's a chameleon."
Robin has two children, Dylan, 24, and Hopper, 22, with her ex-husband Sean Penn - who she split from in 2007 - and she is proud to say that her family always came before her career.
She said: "I was being very selective; work wasn't really a priority. I became a mother to raise my children."
Robin - who turns 50 next year - is now concentrating on the "next chapter" in her life and has decided to only accept roles in projects that really interest her.
She said: "If a great role comes along that is exciting and has some substance, or is far outside the box for me, I'll definitely take it. But to play the pained wife again? I'm done."

Alicia Vikander rehearsed for 'The Man From U.N.C.L.E' in Guy Ritchie's living room.
The 26-year-old actress has revealed the film's director invited her and other cast members over to his house to read through lines.
She said: "There was a whisky bottle and a vodka bottle for props, and I ended up rolling around the floor wrestling with Illya Kuryakin."
The 'Ex Machina' star claimed it was a great way for her to get to know her co-stars, including heartthrobs Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer.
She told the Daily Mail newspaper: "I was a bit nervous before I started making the film.
"Guy creates an open environment."
Vikander plays Gaby Teller, the daughter of a nuclear scientist who has been abducted by a murky crime syndicate, in Ritchie's retelling of the 60s TV show.
And although her character is, among other things, a car mechanic, the brunette beauty admitted she doesn't even have a driving license.
She confessed: "I don't have a licence!
"One of the amazing stunt drivers drove the car for me. I was sitting on top of him, pretending to be steering."
The 'Testament of Youth' actress loved the relaxed attitude on set, and especially enjoyed their daily singalongs.
Alicia added: "I was looking for Guy after we'd shot a scene. I said, 'Are you watching what we're doing?' And he'd answer, 'Yes - and playing the banjo'.
"After that, every day we'd print out the lyrics to Johnny Cash songs and bring them in for singing, with Guy accompanying us on the banjo. It was exactly what I needed, I think, coming off some quite heavy dramas. It was cool. The music was cool. The clothes were cool."

Cara Delevingne has been defended by 'Paper Towns' author John Green after being mocked in an interview on 'Good Day Sacramento'.
The author of the book stood up for the model-turned-actress despite her joking that she had "never read the book or the script" of the film.
On Wednesday, (29.07.15) Cara told TV anchors: "No, I never read the book -- or the script, actually. I kind of winged it."
John has said that Cara has read the book "multiple times" as they cast, including co-star Nat Wolff were "almost always" asked if they'd read it.
Writing on his blog John wrote: "Cara has read the book (multiple times), but the question is annoying -- not least because her male co-star, Nat Wolff, was almost always asked when he'd read the book, while Cara was almost always asked if she'd read it."
He also praised the 22-year-old actress for refusing "to indulge in lazy questions" and being "f***ing interesting".
He added: "Cara, however, refuses to stick to the script. She refuses to indulge lazy questions and refuses to turn herself into an automaton to get through long days of junketry."
"I don't find that behavior entitled or haughty. I find it admirable. Cara Delevingne doesn't exist to feed your narrative or your news feed -- and that's precisely why she's so f--ing interesting."

Al Pacino loves being famous.
The Hollywood legend - famous for his roles in iconic films 'Scarface', 'The Godfather' and 'The Devil's Advocate' - has lived for more than five decades in the spotlight and admitted that whilst he has an idea of what it is like to live a normal life, he doesn't want to be anonymous.
He said: "I have access and I have friendliness everywhere I go. Why would I want to give that up? I had many years of anonymity. I've seen the other side of things and I'm grateful for it ... I think it (fame) is just another part of life and I've grown accustomed to it."
But forever the cool star, Pacino won't take himself too seriously and laughed as he recalled a time when a passer by assumed that he was showing off.
He told Spotlight magazine: "I used to play paddle tennis, to get into shape. This is maybe 20 years ago. We had a team of doubles and all of the players had their last name across their chest. I had my name across my black shirt: PACINO. So I leave this place I was living in, down the by the water in LA, and I'm walking down the block on my way to a game. This middle-aged woman with a dog walks by and she sees my shirt, and she looks at me, and she says, 'Oh, purrlease!'"
Pacino added: "I think anonymity is something that all people share but don't understand, until you lose - then it has something of a meaning ... We all have a taste for attention. We all liked to be acknowledged and respond to being appreciated. That's one thing. To be so invisible? That's another."

The 54-year-old actor stars in the upcoming blockbuster based on the true story of the 2010 Chilean mountain disaster and plays head miner, Mario Sepulveda, who became trapped days before he was due to retire.

Danny DeVito got his iconic 'Taxi' role by insulting the crew.
The 70-year-old star believes he was cast as taxi dispatcher Louie De Palma in the TV series because he branded the script "s**t".
He said: "I wanted to figure out a way to really make an impression. So I come into the room and they're all sitting around this really well appointed office, the producers and whatever. I just walked in - you see the seat you're gonna sit in, where you're gonna do your audition, that's the hot seat - I got the script in my hand, I walked in, I took one step and I said, 'One thing I wanna know before we start, who wrote this sh*t'
"I took one step in total terror and then they just laughed and the rest of the time it didn't matter what I said, I could say, 'And'' and I got a laugh."
The 'Lorax' star also recalled a funny experience he had whilst filming 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia', where he was asked to climb out of a sofa whilst in the nude.
Speaking on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, he shared: "So I read it, and when I you read it you go, 'OK, you go in, you get sewn into the couch, blah, blah blah, OK, I know these people really well. I don't mind, I'll take my clothes off and come out of the couch naked.' But you forget that you're in a scene where there's like 50 background actors there.
"OK, you come out of your dressing room naked. They grease you down because you gotta be sweaty, which is good, the greasing down part, but then you gotta pry your way out of couch like a flounder, a halibut, totally greased up, naked, you forget that there's all these people there. It's weird."

Kristen Stewart impressed the director with her "vampire orgasm" in 'Twilight'.
Bill Condon - who was at the helm of the final two instalments of the film adaption, 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Parts 1 and 2' - has revealed he was impressed with how she acted in a particular scene.
He said: "I'd been a fan of Kristen's before Breaking Dawn, and I loved working with her.
She's incredibly smart and committed, she played such a range of emotions across a single film, from wedding jitters to death throes to vampire orgasm - I mean, if you can pull that off, you can do anything."
And whilst 'Twilight' has seen its fair share of critics, Bill is glad he got the chance to "channel his love of classic horror films" into the flick.
He told Vanity Fair magazine: "One of the reasons I wanted to do 'Breaking Dawn' was that it really was a chance to channel my love of classic horror films into this massive pop phenomenon.
"In a lot of ways, the climax of 'Breaking Dawn, Part 1' is a recasting of one of my favourite films, James Whale's 'Bride of Frankenstein'. Bella's death and rebirth represents Edward turning her into a monster, re-creating her in order to save her. It was something that I felt reflected my lifelong love of the macabre ... to say nothing of the fun I had shooting a huge wedding cake made of bloody corpses. I'm glad they let me drop that in."
