Melissa McCarthy pays tribute to ‘remarkable’ Ghostbusters women

Melissa McCarthy has paid a Twitter tribute to the "remarkable women" of the new 'Ghostbusters' movie.
The 45-year-old actress stars alongside Kristen Wiig and Kate McKinnon in the female-led reboot of the iconic sci-fi franchise and has taken to her social media account to hail the movie's crew.
Addressing the message to chat show host Ellen DeGeneres - who recently fronted a campaign about female empowerment - she wrote: "3 cheers to Ellen from all the remarkable women of #Ghostbusters. When we stand together we are unstoppable!#GirlPower (sic)"
In the accompanying image, all members of the crew can be seen holding signs with their individuals roles written on them.
Meanwhile, it emerged earlier this month that Bill Murray is to make an appearance in the eagerly-awaited reboot, having been spotted on the set of the movie.
The actor - who starred in the two earlier movies in the franchise, in 1984 and 1989 - had previously distanced himself from links to the film, saying his reluctance was tied to the fact the second 'Ghostbusters' movie was less well received than the original.
By contrast, Emma Stone admitted she declined the chance to appear in the film because it was too "big" a commitment.
She said: "The script was really funny. It just didn't feel like the right time for me.
"A franchise is a big commitment - it's a whole thing. I think maybe I need a minute before I dive back into that water."

Owen Wilson’s stunt terror

Owen Wilson found doing his own stunts "kind of scary".
The 46-year-old actor plays a father trying to get his family to safety in a political uprising in 'No Escape' and admits he couldn't help but think of things going wrong when tackling some tough scenes.
He said: "It was kind of scary doing some of the stuff with jumping from roof to roof.
"We're on a harness, but there's still part of your brain that doesn't want you to just run off the side of a building . . . You always wonder, well, 'What if [the harness] is a little frayed or something?'"
The movie sees Owen's character go from being a regular guy to an action hero, and he insists the transition is possible in his everyday life.
He told the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column: "Ordinary people are capable of really heroic things if they're put into an intense, demanding situation."
He went on to recall a speech given by a Medal of Honour winner at his school who talked about "not setting out to do anything heroic".
He added: "He didn't really have time to think, and acted. Reading about these guys in France on the train subduing that terrorist -- it sounded like the same . . . like they didn't really have time to think about it. They just did it."

Zachary Quinto: I’ve been in therapy for a long time

Zachary Quinto has "been in therapy for a long time".
The 38-year-old actor, who appears in the role of Spock in the 'Star Trek' reboot, has revealed the admiration he has for psychologists and thinks therapy can be of "tremendous benefit" if patients are willing to embrace the idea.
Asked what he'd like to do if he wasn't an actor, Zachary said: "Probably be a psychologist. I love therapy - I've been in therapy for a long time. I think psychologists are a tremendous benefit to people if you're prepared to dive in as far as you're willing to go into yourself. So I feel that if I didn't have an outlet to express that exploration in acting, I'd want to be engaged on a fuller level in psychotherapy.
"To be able to be a guide for other people - that's an aspect of what we do as actors in the characters we play, especially when they're as archetypal as Spock."
Zachary - who previously starred in the sci-fi series 'Heroes' - also admitted his career has reached a "crossroads" and he's currently considering his next move.
He told Metro newspaper: "I'm actively not doing anything. I'm finishing up on 'Star Trek' at the end of October and then I'm at an interesting crossroads.
"I really want to get back on stage so I'm trying to find a play - I'd love to take a year out and do theatre. I have no idea but I'm really excited at the idea of having no idea."

Jesse Eisenberg: Batman vs Superman is intimate

Jesse Eisenberg says the 'Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice' set is "intimate".
The 31-year-old 'Social Network' star takes on the role of Lex Luthor in director Zack Snyder's Metropolis based super-hero battle story and revealed the actors were given creative freedom and "intamacy" on set.
He said: "The environment on the set is one of respect and intimacy and allows the actors to do what actors do well even in the context of this huge and larger scope. And the production."
'Dawn of Justice' - which is the sequel to 'Man of Steel' - sees Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, and Jason Momoa play Batman, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman, and Henry Cavill return as Superman.
Amy Adams and Diane Lane also reprise their roles as Lois Lane and Martha Kent.
He told Collider: "The way he shoots things - at least, insofar as my scenes were concerned - was very specifically and very simply a lot of my scenes are dialogue driven and it felt like I was on any other kind of intimate movie set. So watching that trailer for the first time, was when I really got a good sense of the overall movie, the look, and I thought it was really incredible."

The Hateful Eight ‘is about white supremacy’

Quentin Tarantino's new movie is about "white supremacy".
The award-winning director - whose previous film credits include 'Pulp Fiction' and 'Django Unchained' - has offered an insight into the much-anticipated new movie 'The Hateful Eight', saying it will challenge the notion of white supremacy.
He said: "My movie is about the country being torn apart by [the US Civil War], and the racial aftermath, six, seven, eight, ten years later. The issue of white supremacy is being talked about and dealt with, and it's what the movie's about."
The 52-year-old director admitted the issue is prevalent at the moment because of racial tensions in the US, although he said the subject matter is timeless.
He told Vulture: "It was already in the script. It was already in the footage we shot. It just happens to be timely right now. We're not trying to make it timely. It is timely. I love the fact that people are talking and dealing with the institutional racism that has existed in this country and been ignored.
"I feel like it's another 1960s moment, where the people themselves had to expose how ugly they were before things could change. I'm hopeful that that's happening now."

Jeremy Renner doesn’t foresee a Marvel crossover movie

Jeremy Renner can't imagine Chris Pratt appearing in an 'Avengers' movie.
The 44-year-old actor - who stars as Hawkeye in the Marvel universe - has claimed that despite the success of Chris' 'Guardians of the Galaxy' movie in 2014, he doesn't think there will be a crossover film any time soon.
Asked about the prospect of a Marvel crossover, Jeremy said: "There's already a lot of people in the 'Avengers', you want more?! Chris Pratt, I love that guy. I love what they did with 'Guardians' actually, I thought that was one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time.
"I think they'll probably do another 'Guardians', we still have 'Avengers 3' and 4 to go. You're gonna be eighty by the time that comes out, and I'm certainly not going to be Hawkeye. I'm going to be Dead Guy."
Meanwhile, Jeremy revealed the eagerly-awaited 'Captain America: Civil War' will see his character Hawkeye side with Steve Rogers rather than Iron Man, played by Robert Downey Jr.
Reflecting on the plight of his character, Jeremy said: "It made sense to me. Maybe I switched sides!"

Bruce Willis withdraws from Woody Allen movie

Bruce Willis has withdrawn from Woody Allen's next movie due to conflicting commitments.
The 60-year-old actor was one of the first performers to be cast in the star-studded movie from the acclaimed director, but it's turned out he won't be able to fulfill the part.
Bruce - who was set to feature alongside the likes of Blake Lively, Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg - has had to withdraw from the project on account of his plan to appear in a Broadway adaptation of Stephen King's best-selling novel 'Misery', Deadline reports.
The news comes shortly after Kristen admitted auditioning for Woody's new movie was a "stretch".
The 25-year-old actress - who's known for her appearances in the 'Twilight' franchise - said she found it particularly awkward having to audition for a part without having any prior knowledge of the character.
She shared: "It's weird, you're not supposed to talk about Woody Allen movies before they're out, but I think I'm probably allowed to generally say it's a stretch for me. And so I just wasn't sure. So, I just cold read, and I was like, 'I have no concept of [the character].'"

Lea Seydoux ‘offered role in X-Men spin-off’

Lea Seydoux has been offered a role alongside Channing Tatum in the 'X-Men' spin-off 'Gambit'.
The 30-year-old actress - who's also set to appear in the new James Bond movie 'Spectre' - appears to have secured the coveted role of Belladonna Boudreaux in the Rupert Wyatt-directed movie.
Lea overcame stiff competition for the part from the likes of 'Mad Max: Fury Road' star Abbey Lee and Rebecca Ferguson of 'Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation' to be offered the role, Deadline reports.
This comes shortly after Lea described her casting in 'Spectre' as a "dream" and revealed she held a meeting with director Sam Mendes that saw her secure the part.
She recalled: "Sam invited me for lunch and said, 'Do you want to be part of the film?' And I said yes.
"But for me it wasn't really real. I felt I was in a dream. So I was, 'Yeah ... I mean, yes'."
What's more, Lea claimed to be in the dark about certain aspects of the film's plot, which remains a closely-guarded secret.
Asked whether she can reveal anything about the movie, she said: "I like that it's a question. They'll see, you'll see. I mean, even me I haven't seen anything."

Harry Styles ‘wants to launch film career’

Harry Styles dreams of launching a film career.
The 21-year-old singer reportedly plans to make the permanent move to Hollywood and intends to network with movie industry bosses during the awards season once his band One Direction go on a break next year.
A source shared: "Harry is off the leash now in terms of his film career.
"He is moving to LA for good and giving his dreams a real chance of success. There he can mix his music career and work with producers while holding movie meets."
Harry has not been allowed to pursue movie roles during his time with One Direction, but with the chart-topping group set to take a break next year, there's now a window of opportunity for him to indulge his own ambitions.
Another source explained to the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Awards season will be the perfect time for him to hit up agents and producers. Big companies have been chasing him for a long time but he was locked into doing his 1D music career. Previously agents were told that Harry could only be booked with the band."
