Star Wars: The Force Awakens breaks cinema records

'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' has broken the all-time record for the most pre-sale cinema tickets in its first day on sale.
The JJ Abrams-directed movie is set to hit cinema screens in December and its pre-sales have already surpassed every IMAX record ever, taking $6.5 million.
By comparison, the much-anticipated new sci-fi movie has beaten 'The Hunger Games' by more than eight times, underlining the enduring appeal of the iconic franchise.
The news was announced shortly after the third trailer for 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' was released, increasing the excitement levels ahead of the movie's release.
British actress Daisy Ridley posted a video online of her reaction to the trailer, in which she can be seen struggling to hold back tears.
Alongside the video, posted on Instagram, the 23-year-old actress said: "Staying in a little b'n'b with my friend... Set an alarm to watch the trailer... My friend filmed my reaction. Totally emotional seeing it for the first time and so so so incredibly awed to be part of this incredible legacy #starwars #theforceawakens (sic)"
However, her on-screen co-star John Boyega said he didn't film his own reaction to the trailer because he was stuck in traffic after attending a basketball game.
He wrote on Twitter: "Have I seen the trailer ? No! En route home from lakers game. It deserves a BIG screen.
"I'll film my reaction. I'm excited ! But the way traffic in LA is set up..... (sic)"

Back To The Future ‘refuses to fade away’

Christopher Lloyd thinks 'Back to the Future' "refuses to fade away".
The 76-year-old actor starred opposite Michael J. Fox in the iconic sci-fi franchise and have claimed that while other popular movies have seen their appeal slide, 'Back To The Future' remains as loved as ever.
Christopher, who played the part of Dr. Emmett L. Brown, said: "There's no other character that has come up, that keeps going for 30 years.
"They all have their time, and then they fade away. 'Back to the Future' refuses to fade away. I saw it last night, and I have to say it seems fresh and contemporary, not 1985, 1986. It has a lot of laughs."
Christopher also heaped praise on his co-star Michael J. Fox.
Reflecting on a recent meeting between the pair, Christopher told Entertainment Weekly: "We had such a good time.
"There's a really strong mutual admiration between us, and I love Michael and the work he does and his whole personality. He's an extraordinary person. We really enjoy our time together. It was fate."
Fans of the franchise are celebrating Back to the Future Day today (21.10.15), marking the date Marty went forward to in time in 'Back to the Future Part II'.

Chris Pratt’s ‘natural instinct’

Chris Pratt claims his "natural instinct to be a goofball" nearly wrecked the 'Jurassic Park' series.
The 36-year-old actor stars as dinosaur researcher Owen Grady, who specialises in the behaviour of velociraptors, in the franchise's latest instalment 'Jurassic World', but admits his tendency to be "goofy" meant he had to undertake a "little ritual" before every scene.
He told Entertainment Tonight: "For me, the biggest challenge is to not be goofy, because it's my natural instinct to be a goofball.
"Before every take, I would have to do this little ritual to be like, 'Don't turn into a dumbass halfway through this take!'"
And Chris - who has three-year-old son Jack with wife Anna Faris - recently admitted he won't pinch himself because he's scared of "waking up" from his whirlwind success.
He shared: "I don't pinch myself because when you pinch yourself, it's to see if you're dreaming and it'll wake you up.
"Being part of a movie that was essentially my 'Star Wars' ... it was like my first event movie, I saw it in the theatres, it blew my mind! I was 13 years old, so to be in that is crazy. It's just crazy."

Ethan Lawrence was scared by an imaginary ghost

Ethan Lawrence was petrified of an imaginary ghost during his childhood.
The actor stars as a paranormal investigator in the new movie 'Up All Night' and has revealed that during his youth, he lived in fear of what he mistakenly thought to be a ghost living in his bedroom.
Ethan - who appears alongside the likes of Dionne Bromfield and David Mitchell - told BANG Showbiz: "There was a time when I was young when I was convinced there was a ghost in my room.
"But it only ever appeared during the summer. And it took me an embarrassingly long time to realise that it was just an open window with the wind blowing through it that made the curtains twitch a bit.
"So, yeah, that was my only real experience of anything paranormal outside of films, TV shows, video games and things like that."
Ethan - who is best known for starring alongside British comedian Jack Whitehall in the 'Bad Education' franchise - revealed he was drawn to appear in 'Up All Night' because of the script.
He said: "I really like the way the dialogue was written and I really like the way my character conducts himself. And I thought to myself that this was a part that I can do a good job with. Yeah, this is a part that I can really handle.
"So, I was keen to do the audition, did it, and was very glad to be offered the part."
'Up All Night' is out on DVD now.

Daniel Craig can’t watch his most famous scene

Daniel Craig refuses to watch his most famous scene from the James Bond movies.
The 47-year-old actor, who's already played the iconic secret agent in three 007 movies, has revealed he cringes at the thought of his famous scene in 'Casino Royale' in which he emerges from the sea in a pair of blue swimming trunks.
Asked how he feels when he watches the scene again, Daniel shared: "I don't look at it! I don't look at it, weeping and going, 'Wasn't I beautiful?'
"I was aware of what was needed to be Bond, but it still goes against everything I believe in."
Despite appearing in one of Hollywood's most coveted roles, Daniel claimed he's dissimilar to his on-screen character.
He told Timeout magazine: "I'm not very cool, I'm not the coolest human being. I wish I was, but I'm not. And I don't pretend to be cool. But playing James Bond, you have to be cool. And what the hell is cool? You could write a dissertation on it!
"That was a big accident, that particular shot. I was pretending to swim in shallow water, I thought it looked stupid and stood up, I walked off - and that was the shot!"

Daisy Ridley overcome with emotion by Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer

Daisy Ridley was overcome with emotion after watching the new trailer for 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'.
The 23-year-old actress - who's been cast in the role of Rey in the JJ Abrams-directed sci-fi movie - has been filmed watching the trailer for the first time by a friend, with the short clip showing the London-born star becoming excited and emotional.
Alongside the video posted on Instagram, Daisy wrote: "Staying in a little b'n'b with my friend... Set an alarm to watch the trailer... My friend filmed my reaction. Totally emotional seeing it for the first time and so so so incredibly awed to be part of this incredible legacy #starwars #theforceawakens (sic)"
Meanwhile, Daisy's on-screen co-star John Boyega revealed he didn't film his own reaction to the trailer because he was stuck in traffic after attending a basketball game.
He wrote on Twitter: "Have I seen the trailer ? No! En route home from lakers game. It deserves a BIG screen.
"I'll film my reaction. I'm excited ! But the way traffic in LA is set up..... (sic)"
The 143-second clip opens with a masked figure seen climbing the gigantic interior of blackened ruins.
Later, the trailer appears to establish Daisy's character Rey and Finn, played by John, as being key to the plot of the much-anticipated new movie, which is set for release in December.
The final key protagonist is Adam Driver's Kylo Ren - supposedly the main villain in the film - who tells a disfigured mask, presumably belonging to Darth Vader: "Nothing will stand in our way. I will finish what you started."

Bryce Dallas Howard ‘loved’ running in heels in Jurassic World

Bryce Dallas Howard is proud of herself for running from dinosaurs in high-heeled shoes.
The 34-year-old star admitted she wasn't prepared for people to pay more notice to her footwear than the jaw-dropping reptiles in 'Jurassic World', but she "loved" the attention.
She explained: "If too much attention is called to it, it's like, 'Oh, man - maybe I did something wrong, because they're paying attention to the thing that they really shouldn't be paying attention to', but in this case, I loved it because I was like, 'Yeah! Damn right I ran in heels!'"
However, the flame-haired actress gave herself an extra pat on the back because she found practicing for the role hard work, especially wearing heels.
She told PEOPLE magazine: "Yeah, that was very tricky."
Meanwhile, Bryce revealed she was shocked when the blockbuster's director Colin Trevorrow told her she had the lead part in the movie.
She added: "When he first told me about the movie, he was like, 'she's the lead,' and I was like, 'Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it.
"He was like, 'No, no, no. She's the lead. She's the one that changes. She's the one who you meet in the beginning, and you are with at the end.' "

Naomie Harris’ body fear

Naomie Harris didn't think she had the right "assets" for a role in a James Bond movie.
The 39-year-old star - who plays Miss Moneypenny in the latest film 'SPECTRE - admits she was worried she was too flat-chested to have a part in the film franchise and only went along to audition for a "laugh".
She said: "I never thought I'd get it. Bond girls have always been in their 20s, so I thought I was too old. And I didn't think I had the right ... assets!"
And the 'Southpaw' star opened up about her character and the support she offers 007, played by Daniel Craig.
Speaking about Miss Moneypenny, she shared: "She's the only person Bond can trust. In 'SPECTRE', Bond is on a mission but we don't know who's sanctioned it. He may have gone rogue.
"Everyone thinks he has lost his mind because of M dying. Moneypenny is the only one he can confide in about the true nature of his mission and she helps him."
Naomie also credits the role for "changing her career" and helping her secure big roles.
She told the Radio Times magazine: "It's changed my career. I just finished filming another spy film 'Our Kind of Traitor' [a John le Carré adaptation] opposite Ewan McGregor and Damian Lewis. I wouldn't have got that role if I hadn't done Bond.
"Financiers look at you differently because you appeal to a much wider demographic. It's all about numbers."

Aaron Sorkin’s conscience is clear over Steve Jobs movie

Aaron Sorkin's "conscience is clear" over the 'Steve Jobs' script.
The 54-year-old screenwriter wrote the new Danny Boyle-directed movie, which has attracted criticism for its factual inaccuracies, but Aaron is comfortable with his portrayal of the Apple co-founder.
He said: "Steve Jobs did not, as far as I know, have confrontations with the same six people 40 minutes before every product launch.
"That is plainly a writer's conceit. But I do think that the movie gets at some larger truths, some more important truths than what really went on during the 40 minutes before product launches, which I don't think was the stuff of drama."
Aaron suggested the movie gives its audience a strong idea of what the American pioneer was like, adding that it's a "fair" portrayal.
He said: "What you see is a dramatisation of several personal conflicts that he had in his life, and they illustrate something, they give you a picture of something. Are they fair? I do believe they're fair. My conscience is clear."
Jobs' wife Laurene Powell has opposed the project from its inception, but Aaron has defended the movie from criticism.
He said: "While Mrs Jobs, Laurene Powell, did from the get-go object to the movie being made, [his daughter] Lisa Jobs did not, and she's the one portrayed in the movie."
