Samuel L. Jackson’s life-long career

Samuel L. Jackson would never want a career outside the film industry.
The 'Snakes On A Plane' actor insists he will always have a job that somehow relates back to movies, as he feels "settled" knowing the industry he works in.
He told Interview magazine: "Once you settle and you start doing something else to augment what you want to do, you end up doing that settle thing. So that was never an option for me.
"I built sets, I hung lights, I did all kinds of stuff to stay in a theatrical situation so when my audition time came, nobody was asking me, 'Well, who's going to wait my tables?' I never did any of that.
"I was always in the theatre - I might have been backstage or up in the rafters somewhere, but I was there. Somebody would say, 'Good luck,' not, 'When are you going to be back?'"
Meanwhile, the 66-year-old star previously revealed he isn't bothered about winning awards, particularly Oscars.
He shared: "Some people only do movies that are meaningful and that are going to come out during Academy Awards season, but I'm not that person. I've done enough work now not to worry about getting an Academy Award.
"When I got nominated for 'Pulp Fiction' I kept going to all of these f***ing award shows and I wasn't winning and it's kind of like, 'God damn, what is going on?' By the time we got to the Academy Awards I thought to myself, 'Maybe they'll get it f***ing right this time'. When they didn't call my name I just went, 'S**t!' and everybody in TV-land read that on my lips and they said that I was the first and only person to have an honest reaction to not f***ing winning."

Quentin Tarantino planning Hateful Eight play

Quentin Tarantino is planning a stage production of 'The Hateful Eight'.
The writer and director wants to retire from filmmaking after making two more movies and hopes to focus on novels and theatre, including turning 'The Hateful Eight' into a play.
He told The Guardian newspaper: "I'm probably only going to make 10 movies, so I'm already planning on what I'm going to do after that. That's why I'm counting them. I have two more left. I want to stop at a certain point.
"What I want to do basically is I want to write novels and I want to write theatre and I want to direct theatre. I actually want to do a theatrical adaptation of 'Hateful Eight' because I actually like the idea of other actors having a chance to play my characters and see what happens from that."
Quentin - who also wants to turn his movie 'Reservoir Dogs' into a stage production - revealed he was inspired to turn 'The Hateful Eight' into a play after seeing a stage reading of the script before shooting began.
The director - who attended the European premiere of 'The Hateful Eight' in London on Thursday (10.12.15) - said: "I wouldn't be so confident with thinking about the idea of exhibition that early on if I weren't that confident with the material."

Will Smith nearly slept through Golden Globe nomination

Will Smith nearly slept through his Golden Globes nomination.
The 'Concussion' star - who is nominated in the prestigious awards for Best Performance by an Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama) - has revealed he was woken up by his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, who "slapped" him because she was so excited.
He shared: "My wife slapped me out of my sleep to wake me up and tell me. She was just so ecstatic.
"It was like a really great married moment. We were so bound together. It was us, it was ours, 'we' were nominated. It was a great recognition of how far we've come as a couple."
The 47-year-old star is only one of two black actors to be handed a nomination, alongside Idris Elba, but he insists he doesn't want to "focus" on race or prejudice and would rather think about inclusion and "trust" the world will follow in his thoughts.
He told the New York Times newspaper: "I generally try not to focus on racism or prejudice in terms of artistry in that way.
"Because I feel like your thoughts are magnetic. If I'm thinking about myself as a black dude that got nominated, I magnetise the negativity that comes around that separation. If inclusion is what I'm looking for, I have to first make my mind and heart inclusive, then trust that the world will fall in behind it."

Lupita Nyong’o’s Star Wars nerves

Lupita Nyong'o is "scared" about appearing in 'Star Wars'.
The 32-year-old beauty is set to star as orange pirate Maz Kanata in the latest instalment of the film, 'Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens', and admits she feels really "honoured" to have the part despite her nerves.
She said: "I feel really honoured to be a part of this. To play any small role in it is an honour and a blessing, and it's something I just never dreamed of being a part of. It never crossed my mind.
"So the fact that I'm a part of it and I get to witness it from this other side is really, really, really cool. I'm a little scared, obviously.
"I've been quite isolated from it because I've been working on a play for the last 10 weeks, so I'm only now starting to talk about 'Star Wars' and meeting the people who are in love with 'Star Wars', so this is my orientation to what exactly all this means."
In the movie, Lupita's character is brought to life through CGI motion-capture but she says it is a welcome change from her portrayal of Patsey in '12 Years A Slave'.
She told Refinery 29: "Motion-capture is something that I've had my eye on ever since seeing Andy Serkis in 'Lord of the Rings', and then going on to see Zoe Saldana do it, and Benedict Cumberbatch, and folks like that.
"It looked like an opportunity to really play as an actor, because you're not limited by your physical circumstances. And after playing Patsey in '12 Years a Slave', which was so much about the body, here was an opportunity where I was completely relieved of that. And I liked it."

Quentin Tarantino’s retirement plans

Quentin Tarantino is planning to retire within eight years.
The 52-year-old acclaimed director, known as the mastermind behind 'Pulp Fiction', is planning to make two more movies after his new Western film 'The Hateful Eight' and then he'll turn away from the camera for good.
He told The Sun newspaper: "If I got right to work on both of them you're talking about six years from now.
"It will be a little closer to eight years. [My opinion] could change, but I tend to doubt it."
And, although he's remaining tight-lipped on what two final movies he'll sign to, the legendary filmmaker recently hinted there's a "possibility" he'll make a third 'Kill Bill' movie because he's keen to work with Uma Thurman again.
Asked whether he'd want to make another 'Kill Bill' movie, he said: "There is definitely a possibility, [I'll] stop short of saying a probability. For one reason in particular: Uma and me would have a really good time working together again."
Meanwhile, Tarantino is set to have another few busy years coming up after he gets his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which was established in 1958 to honour popular figures in the entertainment industry, in 2016.

Gwendoline Christie thrilled with gender neutral Star Wars costume

Gwendoline Christie was very excited when she realised her costume in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' was gender neutral.
The 'Game of Thrones' star plays Captain Phasma, an officer in the First Order, and when she was first presented with her chrome Stormtrooper armour she was delighted to see it had no differences to the other outfits based on her being a woman.
In an interview with Vulture, she said: "What I found interesting about the costume. It's armour, and it's entirely functional, and it isn't sexualised in any way. I remember when I first saw it, I said, 'Wow' - not just because it looks incredible, although come on - but because I thought, 'This is new.' I mean, in my own small bubble, this represents the way I think and the way I see things, but it's not always the way of the world. So for that evolved thinking to be in a 'Star Wars' movie, I think people love that! People have responded so well to that.
"It's fresh and I also think it's representative of our society. I would imagine that audiences are 50 per cent women, so why not utilise that?"
Co-writer Lawrence Kasdan recently revealed that he and director-and-writer J. J. Abrams had originally written Captain Phasma as a man but changed their minds during the casting process.
Christie claims she had no knowledge of the gender swap for the villainous character but has a lot of respect for both Kasdan and Abrams for making that call at the last minute.
She said: "I think that's great of them, don't you? That there was a discussion about that, and an evolution."
Musing of the significance of Captain Phasma being encased in gender neutral armour, the 37-year-old actress added: "It's that we're so used to relating to female characters primarily through how they have been made in flesh and with Captain Phasma, our initial relationship is based on her character and her actions, rather than that random group of elements that comes together and makes us be born in a certain way."

Dwayne Johnson to star in Will Gluck’s action comedy

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is to star in Will Gluck's new action comedy - which will be inspired by 'Lethal Weapon'.
The 43-year-old actor has signed up to the as-yet untitled project created by Gluck and writer Dave Callaham which is going to be in the same style as classic mismatched 'buddy cop' movies such as Mel Gibson and Danny Glover's classic 87 film, 'Midnight Run' - which starred Robert DeNiro as a bounty hunter - and '48 Hrs', which saw Nick Nolte and Eddie Murphy team up as a detective inspector and a convict to catch a cop killer and is considered the first movie in the genre.
Confirming the project, Johnson posted on Twitter: "EXCLUSIVE. Excited to make this (produce & star) for you guys. Think "Lethal Weapon" meets "48 Hrs". #Throwback (sic)"
Johnson will also co-produce the project through his Seven Bucks company along with Gluck and his 'San Andreas' producer Beau Flynn and will be released through New Line Cinema.
It is the latest project the former WWE Superstar and New Line - which is part of Warner Bros. - have worked together on.
'San Andreas' was the studio's most successful release of 2015, banking $474 million worldwide, and they have also teamed up to make monster apocalypse movie 'Rampage' - which will be directed by Brad Peyton and is based on the 1986 arcade game in which players took control of a giant gorilla, lizard and werewolf and attempt to destroy cities.
The studio are hoping the new 'buddy cop' film will be the start of a successful franchise for Johnson.
The big screen tough guy can next be seen in 'Central Intelligence' with Kevin Hart and is currently shooting the 'Baywatch' film - based on the TV series starring Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff.

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter wraps filming

Production on 'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter' has finished.
Filming for the upcoming sixth installment of the film franchise, inspired by popular game series, wrapped yesterday (09.12.15), and the movie's main star Milla Jovovich, who plays Alice, celebrated by posting a selfie on Instagram.
She added the caption: "Last day shooting #residentevilthefinalchapter!! It's so exciting to finish and I really know you guys are gonna flip when you see it! Also, follow our camera operator @xxxlargexxx for more BTS photos of the movie!!! Loads of love! Xo m (sic)"
The movie has been shot in Cape Town, South Africa for nearly four months and it looks set to be a cracker if pictures of the set are anything to go by.
Earlier this week, Milla uploaded several photos from the film set in Belhar, a suburb of Cape Town.
She wrote in the captions: "The art department have rocked these sets! They look so devastated and moody. On location for the last week of filming in #belhar for #residentevilthefinalchapter #capetowndiary
"Almost finished with the film, but some of the best sets have been saved for last! Here's one in Belhar, South Africa where we're shooting an epic action sequence! #residentevilthefinalchapter #capetowndiary (sic)"
The 39-year-old actress has teamed up with Iain Glen, who plays Dr. Alexander Isaacs, for the movie and last week admitted she couldn't quite believe the film had nearly wrapped.
Captioning a selfie of the pair, she wrote: "My favorite evil Doctor is back! It's been so amazing working with Mr. Iain Glen again! I can't believe we're going to be done with the film in a week! #IainGlen #residentevilthefinalchapter #capetowndiary (sic)"
