Jeff Goldblum: Connie written out of Independence Day: Resurgence

Jeff Goldblum has teased that Connie will not feature in 'Independence Day: Resurgence'.
The 63-year-old actor reprises his role in the long-awaited sequel to the 1996 movie 'Independence Day' and has revealed that the advisor to the US president, who was married to his character David and played an integral role in steering the plan to save Earth from an alien invasion, won't be back.
Asked what role Connie - played by Margaret Colin - has in saving the world this time around, Jeff spilled: "Well they have it in the story I don't know if I can talk to anybody, or give it away, but something happened to her..."
Meanwhile, the movie sees Bill Pullman reprise his character as President Thomas J. Whitmore and Liam Hemsworth and Jessie Usher play Jake Morrison and Dylan Dubrow respectively.
The story revolves around recovered alien technology that the Earth Space Defense program (ESD) - which David has become the director of - use to protect the planet.
And although he doesn't believe a battle with an alien invasion would ever really take place, he says the writers pulled a convincing storyline together for the movie.
He told Collider: "The fantasy people who have dreamed this story up have a whole idea of what a fighting species may have in store of us and what we can do. We come up with some pretty smart answers, and I'm kind of a smarty pants myself in the movie."

Édgar Ramirez: Point Break crew became brothers

Édgar Ramirez says the actors and stuntmen became like "brothers" on the set of 'Point Break'.
The Venezuelan star plays robber Bodhi in the action remake - which was originally made in 1991 and starred Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves - about a thrill-seeking group of surfers who are under investigation by the FBI.
And Ramirez says the cast - including Luke Bracey, Ray Winstone and Delroy Lindo - formed a bond with the stuntmen, many of whom were athletes and experts in physical fitness, because of the respect they had for their amazing physical abilities.
He said: "When I tell people about it, I get a huge sense of pride and excitement to these guys. They brought so much authenticity to the film and made us all proud ... We all became brothers, among the actors and the athletes. They're all our friends. It's amazing. This world is extreme, but it's not a macho culture."
In the movie, Luke plays former extreme motocross star Johnny Utah who is now an FBI agent and goes undercover as a surfer to investigate Bodhi and his criminal gang.
The movie's director Ericson Core relied on very little CGI to create his action sequences, which meant Ramirez and the other stars were in even more awe of the stuntmen's feats, especially their surfing skills.
Speaking to Empire magazine, he recalled: "These guys put their lives on the line for us to have the most exciting cinematic experience that we have seen in cinema.
"All the stunts, when you see over the shoulder of a guy flying, that was a guy who was next to him because there was another guy with a camera attached to his helmet shooting this guy. And that is something that has never been done before ... We were there and it was very extreme, there was no way for us to even get a taste for what these guys do ... To ride a wave like that, we're talking about a building that is collapsing on you."

Suki Waterhouse wanted to star in Cats film

Suki Waterhouse is being lined-up to star in a movie version of the musical 'Cats'.
According to The Sun newspaper, Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber's famous show is coming to the big screen with Tom Hooper - who was responsible for making the 'Les Misérables' film - in line to direct.
And top of Hooper's casting wishlist for the film - being developed by Universal Studios - is model-turned-actress Waterhouse.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "'Cats' is one of theatreland's most-loved shows and Universal always knew a film version would capture the public's imagination. They have been patient with the project, waiting to bring in the right people. Tom has form for adapting musicals for the big screen and is the ideal choice.
"If negotiations go to plan, filming could start as early as this year."
'Cats' was created by musical mastermind Webber in 1981 and is the fourth-longest running musical in the history of London's West End.
Last year, former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger was seen in the role of Grizabella the glamour cat for a 12-week run at the London Palladium.
If Hooper does accept the directing job the 'Cats' film should be in safe hands as his 'Les Misérables' movie - which starred Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne and Hugh Jackman - won three Oscars.
