Miguel placed on informal probation

Miguel pled "no contest" to driving under the influence (DUI).

The ‘Beautiful’ hitmaker, who was charged with two counts of drunk driving after being arrested on August 15 upon being pulled over by police in Los Angeles for having tinted windows and officers discovered his blood alcohol level was slightly above the legal limit in California, was placed on informal probation for three years in court on Friday (21.02.14).

He was also fined $360 and ordered to complete an alcohol education class.

The 28-year-old star later told gossip website TMZ.com: "Driving with alcohol in my system was reckless. I’m really sorry and I’m taking responsibility for this mistake."

It was previously reported that Miguel, whose full name is Miguel Jontel Pimentel, was cooperative following his arrest and was released on $5,000 bail.

The singer also hit the headlines last June when he accidentally kicked a fan during his performance at the Billboard Music Awards.

The singer-songwriter leaped from one stage to another while singing ‘Adorn’ and caught his leg on the back of Khyati Shah’s head, slamming it into the platform.

While it had been claimed Miguel was warned the jump was too dangerous to attempt, his spokeswoman denied this.
