Kit Harington ‘was wrong’ to say sexism affects men

Kit Harington "was wrong" to say the entertainment industry could be "sexist" against men as well as women.
The ‘Game of Thrones’ star has clarified comments he made last May, where he appeared to infer that women and men both experience sexism, insisting his word choice wasn’t quite right and he was instead referring to feeling objectified.
He said at the time: "It’s demeaning. Yes, in some ways you could argue I’ve been employed for a look I have. But there’s a sexism that happens towards men. There’s definitely a sexism in our industry that happens towards women, and there is towards men as well … At some points during photoshoots when I’m asked to strip down, I felt that."
And in a new interview, Kit still stands by his comments about objectification but thinks he "should have separated" the two.
Speaking to The Guardian newspaper, he said: "I was wrong there, though. Sexism against men is not something I should have really said. I think what I meant was, being objectified. At that time, I did feel objectified, and now I’ve learned how to control that [by] just shutting it down. Look, I do think men can get objectified. I do feel I have been objectified in the past, sexually as well, in pieces that have been written about me. Has that made me feel uncomfortable in the past? Yes. Do I think my position is the same as a woman’s in society? No. They’re very different things, and I should have separated them. I was wrong."
Meanwhile, Kit previously admitted he "struggled" being in the public eye.
He said: "I think it was – I take it season by season – [the show] really took off in season 2 or 3, and it was so exciting, this show really getting this massive amount of global attention towards it.
"I struggled with that around season 5. I suddenly found it quite hard, its not stopping. The initial excitement of it wore off. I deal with a lot better now. I think I deal with it better because I can see the end."
