Graeme Swann vows to make Strictly Come Dancing comeback

Graeme Swann has vowed to win ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ after being "robbed" of trophy.

The 41-year-old former cricketer finished seventh on the BBC show with partner Oti Mabuse in 2018, but he’s pledged to take home the coveted Glitterball trophy in his comeback.

Talking to Raunak Kapoor on Instagram Live, he quipped: "I’ll make a comeback. We were robbed. It’s not a competition, it’s a gameshow and they robbed me.

"This year they let Oti win. They put her with a far less attractive and less amusing but far better dancing partner, and they won it. But the ratings plummeted."

Graeme and Oti found themselves in the dreaded dance-off against pop star Ashley Roberts and her partner Pasha Kovalev. but their Quickstep to ‘Sing Sing Sing’ by The Andrews Sisters wasn’t enough to retain his place on the BBC show.

Judge Craig Revel Horwood chose to save Ashley and Pasha, describing the decision as a "no brainer".

And Darcey Bussell came to the same conclusion.

She said: "The couple I would like to save based on this dance is the more technically efficient performance and that was Ashley and Pasha."

Fellow judge Bruno Tonioli also chose to save Ashley and Pasha.

He said to Graeme: "No disrespect but it’s evident. Overall much much stronger on every level, come on, it’s Ashley. Ashley and Pasha."

Graeme subsequently confessed he never thought he’d beat Ashley in a dance-off.

He said: "I thought I could beat anyone in a dance off and then they said ‘Ashley and Pasha!’ – and then I said ‘They’re going to have to fall over!’ and she said, ‘They’re going to have to fall over twice!’"
