Carol Vorderman ‘re-engages with life’ following her mother’s death

Carol Vorderman is "re-engaging with life" after her mother recently passed away.
The 56-year-old TV host has revealed her life is returning to something approaching normality following the death of her beloved mum Jean, who passed away earlier in June, aged 89, after she was diagnosed with cancer.
The former ‘Countdown’ mathematician explained: "I am gradually re-engaging with life.
"She was an amazing lady and was always with me. She worked for me since I was 25. I miss her terribly.
"There was nothing left unsaid or undone as she’d say. It’s not a tragedy, I’m nearly 89 and had a great life."
Carol and her siblings cared for Jean at her home in Bristol, after she was diagnosed with terminal cancer in March this year.
Jean’s illness meant Carol postponed her long-held ambition of jetting around the globe in her twin-engine propeller plane named Mildred.
Carol – who obtained her licence to fly in 2014 – was planning to capture her journey through Europe, Asia, across the Pacific Ocean, the US and back to the UK on camera and turn it into a documentary called ‘Carol’s Incredible Solo Flight Around The World’.
However, the mathematician revealed to ‘Good Morning Britain’ hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid that she had recently been to visit her plane, thereby suggesting her global flight could still take place.
Meanwhile, Carol wrote an emotion-filled message about her mother on the day of Jean’s funeral.
On June 19, she posted: "Some days are tough, today was one of them. Today was my amazing Mum’s funeral. Rest In Peace Jean Vorderman. You will always be loved. (sic)"
