Britain’s Prince George’s worldly gifts

Britain’s Prince George has received gifts from 48 different countries since he was born.

The young royal – who is the son of the Duke and the Duchess of Cambridge – is celebrating his first birthday with a party at his parent’s Kensington Palace apartment today (22.07.14) and it’s been revealed he’s received presents from nearly 50 nations in his first year of life.

Included in the mountain of gifts he’s been presented with over the past year are a baby crocodile from Australia’s Northern Territory, named George, that was hatched on the day his conception was announced.

However, due to the lack of a natural saltwater river on the grounds of the palace, the creature has instead remained in Australia and updates are sent to the toddler via the croc’s very own Facebook page, People magazine reports.

A number of other adopted animals have also been gifted to the Prince – whose full name is George Alexander Louis – including a goat and a fatted bull from tribal elders in Kenya and three meerkats named George, Alexander and Louis from the Dudley and West Midlands Zoological Society.

In addition to the animal theme, George has also been presented with a collection of sporty rewards including a bike with a plaque inscribed with a crown and the initial "G", a miniature Sealegs amphibious boat that drives on land and rides on water and a customized surfboard with his name printed on it.
