NSYNC ‘not ready’ for reunion as Joey Fatone says some members are holding back

Joey Fatone has lifted the lid on the long‑rumoured NSYNC reunion — and says he’s ready to go, even if some of his bandmates aren’t.

Appearing on US docuseries Boy Band Confidential, the singer revealed fans constantly ask whether the group will get back together, but the answer isn’t straightforward.

He explained: “People are always asking, ‘Is the group getting together? Is anything going to happen?’

“Do I see anything in the near future? No, I don’t. Would I want to do it? Yes. Some of the other guys, sure. Some of the other guys, maybe not.”

Joey explained that some members are reluctant because they have young children at home, while Justin Timberlake has only just wrapped a tour and has been battling Lyme disease.

He added: “I’ll be honest, I always say, ‘Hey, why not?’ because I think I’m ready.

“I don’t think everybody else is ready yet.”

It comes as NSYNC were reported to be weighing up a 30th anniversary reunion tour — but without Justin.

Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, JC Chasez and Chris Kirkpatrick are said to have held early talks about returning as a four‑piece, with sources telling TMZ the group are exploring “the possibility of an arena tour without” Justin, who has not engaged in discussions despite strong interest from major promoters.

One insider told the outlet: “The guys know the appetite is there for a reunion and that fans are ready for it, even if Justin isn’t involved.”

The update follows years of speculation about a comeback for the chart‑topping boy band, who dominated the late ’90s and early 2000s with hits including It’s Gonna Be Me, Tearin’ Up My Heart, Bye Bye Bye and I Want You Back. They last toured in 2002 before splitting, with Justin launching a blockbuster solo career.

Promoters AEG and Live Nation reportedly approached the group about 2026 shows, with talks beginning before Justin’s illness became public.

Industry insiders believe the remaining members could still fill arenas — with the potential for even bigger dates if Justin eventually signs on.

NSYNC briefly reunited in 2023 for Better Place, recorded for Justin’s animated film Trolls Band Together, and appeared together at the MTV VMAs to present Taylor Swift with the Best Pop prize.

Lance later added fuel to the fire when he claimed on Watch What Happens Live that Sean “Diddy” Combs encouraged Justin to ditch the group during their 2002 tour.

He said: “I overheard him talking to Justin being like, ‘You need to drop these effers, you need to go solo.’

“I was like, ‘I don’t like you anymore, Diddy… at my own show? What the hell!’”
