Richard Blackwood hints at EastEnders comeback

Richard Blackwood has hinted he could make an ‘EastEnders’ comeback, admitting the door is "slightly ajar".
The 46-year-old actor says he is "very fortunate" to have played Vincent Hubbard for three years in the BBC One soap, and is grateful to the show for teaching him he doesn’t have the "luxury" to "overly rehearse".
He said: "It’s slightly ajar. I can see the guys in there and they’re like, ‘Richard, how’s it going?’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, just checking. We good? My family still there?’
"’EastEnders’ was really good for me. It’s a fast machine. It taught me you don’t have the luxury of taking the time to overly rehearse.
"It’s very quick but it gets you to that place of landing it straight away and trusting it.
"It’s like a master-class. I’m very fortunate."
Despite departing the role in April, Richard is still contacted by ‘Enders’ fans and finds it "hard" to break away from the character.
He said: "With ‘EastEnders’ specifically, it’s very hard because people also see you as the character.
"So you’re walking down the street and people call you Vincent.
"I’ve been known as Richard Blackwood for so long.
"You then now have to break away from that character. That’s the hard part."
Richard has previously admitted he was left contemplating suicide after going bankrupt, and he now admits he only carried on because he was desperate to make it as a successful actor.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, he added: "I’m a true believer that when it comes to things in life that you want it’s never always going to be smooth sailing.
"I guess I had 10 years of hardship from when I went bankrupt and those were the moments where most people would have given up.
"People would understand. But now I’ve come through the other side it’s a testimony to the fact that if you want something bad enough you have to go through the part that’s dark and a bit misty."
