Takeshi’s Castle to get reboot

‘Takeshi’s Castle’ is being rebooted.
The game show, which saw contestants tackle a number of ridiculous obstacles in a bid to get closer to the castle, first hit television screens in the UK in 2002 and ran for six successful series before it made a one-off return in 2013 for a special episode.
Fans have been begging bosses to bring it back ever since as it was such a viewer favourite and now it looks like their wishes have been granted as Comedy Central has agreed to revive it for a new series and have hired Jonathan Ross as the narrator.
Louise Holmes, Comedy Central UK’s Vice President, said: "’Takeshi’s Castle’ is the gold standard of physical game shows and we can’t wait to bring the delightful mayhem of this show back to the UK with this new series.
"Jonathan’s comedic brilliance will add a fresh level of funny to this well-loved format for both original fans and hopefully, a whole new generation of ‘Keshi-heads’."
‘Takeshi’s Castle’ originally aired in Japan in the late 1980s and was adapted for UK audiences two decades later – with Craig Charles narrating from 2002 until 2004.
Comedy duo Dick & Dom – known for ‘Dick & Dom in da Bungalow’ – then took over commentating duties in 2013, but their presenting skills were heavily slammed by fans.
Although not much is known about the forthcoming series, bosses are hoping that Jonathan’s dulcet tones and quick wit will revive the humour and win back fans.
Meanwhile, ‘Takeshi’s Castle’ isn’t the only vintage game show set to make a comeback in the near future as ‘Fun House’ is also in talks to make a return.
‘Fun House’ host Pat Sharp said: "To get the show back on telly would be great."
