Daft Punk for Glastonbury 2017?

Daft Punk are rumoured to be headlining Glastonbury Festival 2017.
The ‘Get Lucky’ hitmakers traditionally only perform live every decade and so given the fact that the music extravaganza, held at Worthy Farm in Somerset, south west England, is going on its one-year hiatus in 2018, this year would be perfect timing for them to return to the infamous Pyramid Stage.
The festival’s organisers Michael and Emily Davis are said to have the electronic duo – comprised of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter – at the top of their wish list to play next year.
Michael and Emily are also said to be in the early stages of trying to secure Daft Punk and pop superstar Lady Gaga, who is being lined-up to perform a special guest slot, according to the Daily Star newspaper.
Similar rumours went around last year and it was in fact, her pal Mark Ronson who was doing a surprise set.
The ‘Poker Face’ hitmaker last performed at Glastonbury in 2009 and if Daft Punk play the festival it would be the first time since their 1997 headline slot.
The Stone Roses are also hot contenders to headline having just announced three UK shows in June 2017, around the same time the festival is due to take place.
The ‘I Wanna Be Adored’ hitmakers will play Belfast’s SSE Arena on June 13, London’s iconic Wembley Stadium on June 17, and Glasgow’s Hampden Park on June 24.
The shows mark the first the ‘Waterfall’ musicians – comprised of Ian Brown, John Squire, Mani, and Reni – will have played since June this year when they took over Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium for four nights, aside from their headline slot at Scottish festival T in the Park in July.
Rumours have been circulating about a full UK tour, as well as a headline slot at 2017’s Glastonbury festival, but nothing else has been confirmed yet.
