The Chemical Brothers give fans hits at Apple Music Festival

The Chemical Brothers played a hit packed set at the Apple Music Festival in London last night (24.09.15).

The electronic music duo – who are currently touring without Ed Simons – took to the stage at the Roundhouse in Camden as part of the annual music event formerly known as the iTunes Festival.

Tom Rowlands and The Chemical Brothers’ regular visual collaborator Adam Smith kicked off the set with the 1999 hit single ‘Hey Boy Hey Girl’ from their third album ‘Surrender’ before transitioning into the eerie track ‘EML’ from their latest album ‘Born in the Echoes’.

The dance legends – who have performed at a number of music festivals including Glastonbury, Creamfields and Bestival this summer – released their eighth album earlier this year, five years after 2010’s ‘Further’.

Tom – whose bandmate Ed is taking time out from performing to focus on his studies – introduced old and new fans to their new material, playing both ‘Go’ and ‘Sometimes I Feel So Deserted’ from the new record.

He also played fan favourites ‘Swoon’, ‘Galvanize’, ‘Saturate’ and ‘Do It Again’ before exiting the stage to the cheers and applause of hundreds of fans.

Not wanting to call it a night just yet, however, Tom and Adam returned to play the closing track from The Chemical Brothers’ second album ‘Dig Your Own Hole’, ‘The Private Psychedelic Reel’.

Up and coming star Hudson Mohawke – whose real name is Ross Birchard – opened for the headliners with a crowd pleasing DJ set.

Other artists to perform at the Apple Music Festival this week have included Carrie Underwood, One Direction and The Weeknd while Disclosure are set to take to the stage tonight (25.09.15) followed by Pharrell Williams and Mumford and Sons over the weekend.
