Tom Parker enjoying a ‘normal life’ after The Wanted

Tom Parker is enjoying some "normality" since The Wanted split up.

The 27-year-old star insists it’s been nice to do the simple things in life such as clearing up his dog’s poo and going out with his girlfriend, actress Kelsey Hardwick, since the group disbanded in January 2014.

Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, he said: "I can’t even tell you how good it feels to be able to wake up at 9am. Even picking up your dog’s s**t up in the garden feels normal. It’s little things like not being able to go for lunch with Kelsey. I can’t express enough how it has been nice to get back to a bit of normality."

Parker has become a producer and DJ since the end of the boy band group – which also featured Nathan Sykes, Jay McGuiness, Max George and Siva Kaneswaran – and recently released his first solo single with his own vocals on it.

Asked why he felt ‘Lost In Your Love’ needed his voice on it, he said: "When I was writing it in the studio with John Reid from Nightcrawlers. John started vocalling it and I was like, ‘Do you know what mate, I’ll jump on.’ It just felt right and sounded right. Sometimes you can over complete things. But it just seemed to fit. I am a singer so I may as well utilise it."

However, Tom wants to keep his producing separate from being a singer, which is why his previous tracks had guest vocalists.

He said: "I said from the start I wanted to separate myself as a vocalist and a producer. You have to do that for what you want to achieve. When you’ve been in a band, if you sing on all your records, you then just become a singer."
