Woody Harrelson and Liam Hemsworth for western-thriller

Woody Harrelson and Liam Hemsworth are to star in ‘By Way of Helena’.

‘The Hunger Games’ co-stars have signed up to star in the upcoming revenge western-thriller, which will be directed by Australian filmmaker Kieran Darcy-Smith from a script by Matt Cook, Deadline reports.

Hemsworth will play the role of David, an 1880s Texas Ranger sent to an isolated frontier town to investigate a series of mysterious murders, while Harrelson will take on the part of the local preacher named Abraham, who holds the townsfolk in a fearful grip.

Although Hemsworth and Harrelson both star in ‘The Hunger Games’ franchise, their characters – Gale Hawthorne and Haymitch Abernathy – never share the screen and therefore this will be the first time the pair work together so closely.

Aside from the next instalment of the series – which is based on the novels of the same name by Suzanne Collins – Harrelson has been starring in HBO’s ‘True Detective’ and is set to appear in crime thriller ‘Triple Nine’.

Filming on ‘By Way of Helena’ – which will be produced by Mandeville Films’ David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman – is scheduled to begin in September, before Hemsworth and Harrelson begin promoting the November release of ‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1’.
