Dave, Olivia Dean, RAYE and Jim Legxacy are among the major contenders at this year’s Urban Music Awards.
The 24th annual ceremony will return to London on December 15, celebrating the best in UK and international urban music.
Dave leads the way with ten nominations, including Artist of the Year (UK) and Best Album for The Boy Who Played the Harp, along with three recognitions for his collaboration with Tems on Raindance. RAYE and Jim Legxacy join Olivia Dean on eight nominations, while Skepta follows with seven, including acknowledgement for Victory Lap with Fred again.. and PlaqueBoyMax.
The Artist of the Year (UK) category will see Central Cee, Dave, Finn Askew, FLO, J Hus, Jim Legxacy, Lola Young, Nemzzz, Odeal, Olivia Dean, PinkPantheress, RAYE, Scorcher and Skepta go head-to-head. Best Album contenders include Central Cee’s Cant Rush Greatness, Little Simz’s Lotus, RAYE’s This Music May Contain Hope, Olivia Dean’s The Art of Loving and FLO’s Access All Areas. Ezra Collective, D Block Europe, NSG, SAULT and FLO are among the nominees for Best Group.
This year’s awards also expand their international reach, with categories spotlighting artists from the USA, Africa, the Caribbean, France, Asia and South America. Nominees include Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Doechii, Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tems, Tyla, Vybz Kartel, Aya Nakamura, Diljit Dosanjh, Bad Bunny and Karol G.
Cressida Oppenheimer, Vice President of the Urban Music Awards, said: “For 24 years, the Urban Music Awards have championed the artists, producers, DJs and creators who drive our culture forward. This year’s nominees show just how strong, diverse and global urban music has become. Now it’s over to the fans: get voting, and we’ll see you on 15 December for a night of elegance, fashion, performances and the biggest celebration of the year.”
Voting is now open at urbanmusicawards.org/voting, while tickets and VIP tables for the gala – including the red carpet, live performances, the awards ceremony and the official afterparty – are available via the awards’ official site. The event will also be streamed live on Channel One TV.
