Wendi Peters is worried people will be "disappointed" with Cilla Battersby-Brown’s new personality.
The 46-year-old actress will return to ‘Coronation Street’ tonight (22.10.14) after leaving the ITV show in 2007, but has admitted that reviving her character Cilla was a nerve-wrecking experience.
Talking on ‘This Morning’ to Phillip Schofield and Amanda Holden earlier today, she said: "I hope people aren’t disappointed that she hasn’t come back with the brashness and comedy.
"There are still bits of comedy in there, there are some lovely fantastic scenes that are comedy but it’s just her with a little bit of heart hopefully and a bit more down to earth."
Wendi also confessed that she was a bit scared about returning to the show after such a long break and even revealed that she didn’t agree to job offer straight away.
She said: "It was like my first day of school. It was so scary because not only were there lots of different people there – and obviously seven years on we don’t know what’s happened to her – but also it’s a different building. It was weird.
"It took me a while, discussing it with various people and thinking, do I want to re-visit? Should I just to put her to bed? I’ve moved on, I’m doing lots of other things and then it all sort of fell into place."
