UK’s Eurovision hopefuls revealed

The six acts who will compete for the chance to represent the UK at this year’s ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ have been announced.
Anisa, Holly Tandy, Jordan Clarke, Kerrie-Anne, Maid and Michael Rice will be competing against each other for a ticket to Tel Aviv in ‘Eurovision: You Decide’ on the February 8th, which will be hosted by Eurovision 2015 winner Mans Zelmerlöw and host Mel Giedroyc.
The contestants will share three songs, ‘Bigger Than Us’, ‘Freaks’ and ‘Sweet Lies’.
Holly – who will sing ‘Bigger Than Us’ – said: "My version of ‘Bigger Than Us’ is a country pop song which is really current and cool, and similar to a Taylor Swift / Miley Cyrus vibe."
Michael will also perform ‘Bigger Than Us’, and he is a huge fan of the lyrics.
He said: "My version of ‘Bigger Than Us’ is such an epic, big song with a big key change and harmonies, and I think the lyrics resonate with everyone"
Jordan and Maid will both perform ‘Freaks’, and he is hoping the crowd join in.
He said: "My version of ‘Freaks’ has a rock element to a pop song, it has a strong vocal with an anthem vibe – I wanna get the crowd singing along!"
Maid added: "’Freaks’ is about celebrating everyone’s individual personality, about the people who maybe don’t fit in and it’s about bringing everyone together"
Anisa and Kerrie-Anne are to sing ‘Sweet Lies’, but the tempo will differ on the two versions.
Kerrie-Anne – who will sing ‘Sweet Lies’ – said: "The style of my song is up-tempo but at the same time the lyrics are quite poignant – it’s all about blissful ignorance."
Anisa added: "I always like ballads so I took the tempo down, added loads of harmonies, loads of layers and lots of backing vocals – I wanted to get the emotion across."
The successful singer will represent the UK at the 2019 ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ in Tel Aviv.
