'Coronation Street' star Barbara Knox has reportedly been charged with drink-driving.
The 80-year-old actress - who has played newsagent Rita Tanner in the ITV show for over 40 years - was said to be crying after the news as she was driven away by a lawyer.
According to The Sun newspaper, she was at Middlewich police station yesterday (04.04.14) with his solicitor Nick Freeman when she was told she will face the charge in front of Macclesfield magistrates in April 24 and could be banned from driving.
A spokeswoman for 'Coronation Street' insisted it was a "private and personal matter".
Last month, it was reported that Barbara had been arrested following an afternoon out with her daughter Maxine Ashcroft.
First, Maxine, 56, was breathalysed as she drove home with Barbara in the passenger's seat, and was found to be three times the legal limit.
However, when the soap star later turned up at Cheshire's Knutsford Police Station to bail out her daughter, cops apparently believed she had also been driving under the influence and she was reportedly arrested.
A source said: "Barbara wasn't happy her daughter had been arrested. She kept yelling, 'Do you know who I am?'
"She turned up at the police station knocking on the door and demanding her daughter be released. But the officers suspected she had driven to the station herself so they arrested her as well."

EastEnders' Bianca Jackson will accuse her boyfriend of trying to seduce her daughter.
The soap star, played by actress Patsy Palmer, will make a terrible mistake when she accuses her boyfriend Terry Spraggan (Terry Alderton) of making a move on her adopted daughter Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) when she walks on him with his arm around her.
A source said: "Bianca's overreaction is caused by memories of Tony King, who sexually abused Whitney.
"Terry is nothing like Tony, of course. But the sight of his arm around Whitney is enough to remind Bianca of what happened in the past, and she panics that history is about to repeat itself."
Bianca is currently going through a difficult time on the BBC One soap as she is waiting to hear the results of her and her sister Sonia Fowler's (Natalie Cassidy) cancer gene tests and while Terry is simply trying to comfort Whitney, she jumps to the wrong conclusion.
The source told Inside Soap magazine: "Terry can tell that Bianca is stressed and helps her by keeping the kids entertained.
"In the midst of all the turmoil, Whitney is still mortified about the pass she recently made at her gay friend, Johnny. After Terry sees that she's upset, he tries to console her - which is when Bianca walks in and believes that something rather more sinister is taking place."
'EastEnders' fans will see Bianca realise what a horrible mistake she's made in episodes set to air next week.

The 86-year-old presenter has been the host of the celebrity dance contest since it first began in 2004 but he's now decided to step down from his role, although he will continue to present the Christmas and Children In Need Specials and other one-off shows.
Bruce said: "After 10 wonderful years and 11 series, I believe it is now the right time to step down from the rigours of presenting the Strictly live shows. I am very proud of what the show has achieved and confident it will entertain the nation for many years to come.
"I am also delighted that by presenting the Christmas and Children in Need shows I will continue to have a strong association with Strictly."
The legendary entertainer has previously admitted to struggling with the 'Strictly Come Dancing' filming schedule and had to take a break from the last series due to illness.
Mark Linsey, Entertainment Commissioning Controller for the BBC, said: "He [Bruce] is the all-time master and commander when it comes to Great British entertainers and Strictly owes him such a great deal."
"This is not a farewell, but you can't blame him for wanting to take things a little bit easier."
BBC One's official Twitter account echoed the sentiment writing: "Sir Bruce is one of the great showbiz legends of our time and @bbcstrictly's success is due in vast amounts to him. This is not farewell."

EastEnders' Max Branning will become a suspect in the upcoming murder of Lucy Beale.
The womaniser - played by Jake Wood - will become the prime focus in the chilling case after it was revealed in last night's (03.04.14) episode that he's been having an affair with the 20-year-old businesswoman (Hetti Bywater).
A source told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "This development is really set to put the cat amongst the pigeons in Albert Square.
"It will shock many viewers and also put Max closer that anyone to Lucy just weeks before she is killed."
This isn't the first time Max has struck up a relationship with a younger woman as he also had an affair with his late son Bradley's wife Stacey Branning (Lacey Turner) in 2007.
However, the news that Max is sleeping with Lucy could be enough to turn his recovering alcoholic daughter Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa), who is close friends with the blonde beauty, back to her old ways.
The source explained: "If Lucy's friend Lauren finds out it could be enough to send her back to the bottle. She will really struggle to cope."
Lucy will leave Walford later this month after she's brutally slaughtered by a fellow resident, but bosses are remaining tight-lipped on the identity of the killer until next February.

Holly Hagan's ex-boyfriend has joined 'Geordie Shore' for a brand new series.
The reality show will hit screens this summer and promises to be bigger and better than before after hunky host Aaron Chalmers joined the cast in Newcastle for series eight.
The 26-year-old lad is no stranger to the cast and is set to cause trouble in the house as he plans to team up with womaniser Gaz Beadle to make a "dream pulling machine".
With his dangerously good looks and tattooed physique, Aaron, who recently had a fling with Holly, may find himself caught up in a nasty love triangle along the way.
Meanwhile, Vicky Pattison is returning to the show and there's set to be a few feathers ruffled as she's keen to put Marnie Simpson, who joined in series seven, in her place.
Vicky said: "I've had a good long break, time to see my friends and family and do everything I've wanted to do, and now I can't wait to get back in and see the rest of the gang!
"Marnie is not the queen of the house, she's going to find it out the hard way if she doesn't change her ways."
Charlotte Crosby, Scotty T and James Tindale will also create their fair share of drama in the house as they are also returning for the upcoming series.
Charlotte said: "It's that time again! Back to Newcastle, back to the house of hangovers, crazy parties and even crazier people! And I can't wait! It's been to long! So long I'm not even sure I'm gonna recognise everyone when I get back! What on earth do we have in store this time? Who knows but whatever happens I am ready for it! Bring it on!"

Amy Willerton isn't shocked Sam Faiers and Joey Essex have got back together.
The former Miss Universe contestant enjoyed a brief fling with 'The Only Way Is Essex' star during their stint on 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here' last winter, but she insists she's thrilled the hunk has rekindled his romance with Sam.
Quizzed about the on/off couple's latest reunion, Amy exclusively told BANG Showbiz at the F&F Autumn/Winter 2014 fashion show last night (03.04.14): "No! Oh my gosh, I'm not surprised at all. It was always going to happen."
The blonde bombshell has never even exchanged words with Sam, who has just quit 'TOWIE' to focus on her relationship with Joey and her health after being diagnosed with Crohn's disease earlier this year.
She said: "I've never met Sam. I don't know, I've never felt the need to say anything. She's somebody I've not met or ever said anything bad about. Good luck to them. My direction, I'm heading more LA than Essex."
Amy also opened up about her former jungle campmate Rebecca Adlington, who recently had a nose job after receiving hurtful Twitter messages about her appearance, claiming the Olympic swimmer should feel confident within herself and believe in her own unique talents.
She said: "Honestly, I think beauty is subjective. Whenever Becky had an issue with herself I would say to her, 'Look at you, you've got a fiancé who loves you. I'm single, I'm by myself. You don't need to be envious of me.'
"My achievements as a model will last a maximum of 10 years, the gold medals she's got are going to last forever. There's no reason to feel doubtful about herself.
"She's a great girl and she's done some amazing things. For me, just be comfortable in your own skin, love yourself, look at yourself as an individual and what makes you beautiful. I had braces and acne, I'm not perfect."
Amy was joined by celebrities including Professor Green, Millie Mackintosh, Tinchy Stryder and Sam and Billie Faiers at the F&F autumn/winter 2014 fashion show held at London's Somerset House.
Guests sipped on champagne while watching the new electric indulgence-themed mens and womenswear collections go down the runway.

Danny Miller is returning to 'Emmerdale'.
The 23-year-old actor - who was crowned Best Actor at the British Soap Awards in 2011 and 2012 - is set the reprise his role as Aaron Livesy, who he played from 2008 until 2012, later this year.
Show bosses are remaining tight-lipped on what will bring the hunk back to the dales, but it is believed his arrival will cause some trouble among the village residents.
A source told Soap Squawk: "Aaron has some unfinished business in the village, but fans will see that he's grown up a lot while he's been away - but in a good or bad way?"
Aaron was last seen fleeing to France with his boyfriend Ed Roberts (Lloyd Everitt) on the run from the police after he took the blame for a nasty fire, which his best friend Adam Barton (Adam Thomas) had started at the local garage.
However, viewers have since learned that Aaron has split up with his lover.
Danny has had to deal with a mixture of storylines during his time on the soap, including Aaron's sexuality, controversial assisted suicide plot, and self harming.
The star then went on to appear in ITV's 'Lightfields' and 'Scott & Bailey' following his departure two years ago.

James 'Arg' Argent is getting fit in a bid to win over ex-girlfriend Lydia Bright.
'The Only Way Is Essex' star was left in shock when his first love - who left the show in 2012 - made a surprise return in Wednesday night's series finale (02.04.14), and now he wants to shed the pounds ahead of the cast's annual trip to Marbella, Spain, where he plans to woo her.
Arg told The Sun newspaper: "I've got a new motivation at the moment. When you see your ex-girlfriend, whether you get back with her or not, you want to look good.
"When it comes to Marbella I want to have a good body, I want to be confident. I want to be walking around Puerto Banus like I own the place!"
Arg recently revealed in his new book, 'Living It Arg', that he cheated on Lydia with former 'TOWIE' co-star Amy Childs towards the end of their four year relationship.
He admits that sharing a kiss with Amy at an ITV party is still his biggest regret and that if given another chance, his maturity would make him a better boyfriend to Lydia.
He explained: "I'm single at the moment, I suppose she is. I'm in a lot stronger position and better place than what I was and I like to think I'm more mature than when I was with Lydia when I was too young."
Meanwhile, Arg claims Lydia has not yet been "100 per cent" confirmed for future series, but he will be "prepared" if she does return for good.

James Sutton lost sleep while filming "uncomfortable" rape scenes in 'Hollyoaks'.
The 31-year-old actor - who plays teacher John Paul McQueen - admits he was left an emotional wreck after his character was brutally raped by a pupil and the story line even began to affect his off-screen relationship with his girlfriend.
James - who is dating model Kate Williams - told The Sun newspaper: "It's been as uncomfortable to play as it has been to watch.
"It's one of those storylines you can't really switch off, but I'm proud of how it's been received and the impact it has had.
"My poor girlfriend has had to put up with me not sleeping and looking like s*** all the time."
James makes his last appearance for several months in tonight's (04.04.14) episode of the Channel 4 soap, which sees him locked up in prison for assaulting his student attacker, Finn O'Connor, in a bid for revenge.
However the former 'Emmerdale' star also revealed that when John Paul returns to screens later this spring, his nightmare will continue.
James teased: "Something happens in prison and he has to deal with it outside. He comes back with a lot on his mind."
