Jay James has been eliminated from 'The X Factor' after the decision went to a public vote.
The former fitness instructor found himself in the sing-off against Stevie Ritchie and was ultimately eliminated from the competition when the judges could not reach a unanimous verdict and he was found to have the fewest votes from the public.
He reflected: "It's been absolutely incredibly, the people that I have met during this time have just been amazing."
Simon Cowell, 55 - the mentor of both acts in the sing-off - added: "Jay, you've been a gentleman, a really nice guy to work with."
During the sing-off, Jay performed 'Somewhere Only We Know' by Keane, while Stevie sang Queen's 'Somebody to Love'.
In the subsequent vote, Simon and Louis Walsh both opted to send Stevie home, with Mel B and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini choosing Jay.
That meant the decision went to a public vote, which Stevie won.
Tonight's (16.11.14) show also featured the premiere of the Band Aid 30 single, introduced by Bob Geldof, 63, who's been the driving force behind the charity track designed to raise money to fight Ebola.

Stevi Ritchie "lied through his teeth" about sleeping with Chloe-Jasmine Whichello.
The 'X Factor' hopeful - who enjoyed a passionate encounter with the former contestant behind her now ex-boyfriend, Craig Wiffen's back - is said to have tried to cover up his tracks following their affair and even blamed his actions on the ITV show, claiming bosses forced him into having feelings for her.
Craig told The Sun newspaper: "Stevi lied through his teeth. He said he was sorry, but he thought Chloe was single - something he later admitted was lies.
"If you've done something wrong, for God's sake, at least be man enough to own up to the truth.
"Then he tried to blame The X Factor. He said he'd felt under a huge amount of pressure to have feelings for Chloe because it was driving his 'campaign'.
"He said he'd gone ahead with it because he wanted to be a success on the show, but complained that he had been exploited."
The 31-year-old former soldier - who split from Chloe-Jasmine, 23, following the revelations - branded the pair 'disgusting" and insists he would "love" to punch Stevi in the face for using the relationship to boost his profile.
He said: "He's a pathetic excuse for a human being and she's no better.
"The fact they both lied to me is disgusting. And to know it was all for the sake of getting him more column inches makes it even worse.
"If I saw him in the street tomorrow I'd blank him because I'm a responsible person. But I'd love to punch him in the face."

Lauren Platt wants to duet with Ella Eyre.
The 17-year-old singer is a huge fan of the 'Comeback' singer and if she makes it into the 'X Factor' final - when the hopefuls have to perform with an established artist - she would love to get the chance to sing with her idol.
Asked who she would want to duet with on the show's final, she said: "Ella Eyre. I'm her biggest fan. I met her at a party the other night and it's the first time I've felt starstruck. She's so cool and wished me luck on the show."
Lauren is mentored on the show by Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and loves having the support of such an "amazing" person because she helps calm her nerves.
She said: "Cheryl is amazing, just so cool. She's chilled about everything.
"Even on a Sunday night before we go on stage for the results she says, 'What will be will be'. That puts me in a chilled mindset and stops me panicking.
"Then I'll see her backstage with her husband."
And Cheryl's spouse, Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini has also helped Lauren feel at ease.
She added to Now magazine: "[Jean-Bernard] is so cool and lovely, just like Cheryl. I'll go into her dressing room panicking about something and he's like, 'Lauren, just chill.' "

A new 'Bottom' bench has been unveiled in memory of Rik Mayall.
The iconic seat from the BBC Two sitcom has been re-installed by Hammersmith Council in honour of the show's late star following a petition from 7,000 fans to have the bench reinstated.
The petition came after Rik - who passed away aged 56 in June this year - claimed the bench from the series' opening sequence had been removed in a radio interview shortly before his death, reports The Telegraph newspaper.
Hammersmith council unveiled the bench yesterday (14.11.14) which is inscribed with a touching tribute to the comedian who died suddenly from an "acute cardiac event" at his home in Barnes, south-west London, following his morning run.
It reads: "In Memory of The Man, The Myth, The Legend".
Fans of the late star flooded the corner of Queen Caroline Street and Hammersmith Bridge Road - close to where an unofficial blue plaque has been installed in memory of the actor - to watch the unveiling.
A tribute written by Nigel Planner, Rik's 'Young Ones' co-star was also read out to the crowd who could be heard singing along to the show's theme tune.

Edwina Currie will star on 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!'.
The former Conservative minister is reported to have accepted a £110,000 offer to appear on the reality TV show despite slamming it as a "ritual humiliation" in the past.
Edwina, 68, who expressed her dislike of the ITV series when Tory MP Nadine Dorries took part in 2012, is said to have been convinced to enter the jungle by show bosses who hope she will open up about her four-year affair with former Prime Minister Sir John Major.
In November 2012, she said of Nadine's decision to compete on the series: "This programme is about ritual humiliation. I don't think she should be doing it. If Nadine seriously thinks they are going to allow her on to national TV on a game show like this talking about abortion, she's got another thing coming."
Edwina is set to fly out to Australia to join the other contestants - retired footballer Jimmy Bullard, 'The Only Way is Essex' star Gemma Collins, rapper Tinchy Stryder, broadcaster Michael Buerk, 'Coronation Street' star Craig Charles, Carl Fogarty, Vicki Michelle and model Nadia Forde - a few days into the 14th series of the show which kicks off tomorrow night (16.11.14).
A show source told The Sun newspaper: "Edwina is so opinionated there will definitely be fireworks in camp.
"It is amazing that she has been convinced to do the show. She's going to look a bit of a hypocrite now."
Along with Edwina, 'X Factor' reject Jake Quickenden, 26, is also reported to be joining the show a few days in.

The former 'Playboy' model - who is set to compete on this year's series of 'I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!' - confessed that although she is married to retired American football player Hank Baskett she won't hold back when it comes to eyeing up her hunky co-stars in the jungle.
She told The Sun newspaper: "Let's say I have jungle fever, I call myself a big pervert. I'm married but I'm still a pervert.
"I've only fallen in love once, and once was enough, but that doesn't mean my eyes won't wander."

She said: "I love penis. It sounds like something that could be on the Atkins diet."

Darcey Bussell has been helping Mark Wright overcome his 'Strictly Come Dancing' nerves.
The 45-year-old former ballerina - who is a judge on the celebrity dance contest - feels sorry for the reality star because the show is so unlike anything he has ever experienced and has been giving him breathing exercises to help with his moments of panic.
She said: "Alison Hammond [was] the naughtiest [contestant], backstage she's hysterical, whereas Mark Wright panics. I've given him breathing exercises - 'Strictly' is like nothing he's ever done before."
Darcey thinks this year's contestants are the most talented to take to the dancefloor yet, and she's backing 'EastEnders' actor Jake Wood to make it to the final.
She said: "This is the best set of contestants the show has ever had.
"I don't think anybody thought Jake Wood would be such an entertainer. It would be fabulous to see him in the final."
And the judge laughed off speculation of romances between the stars and their dance partners.
She told Closer magazine: "The 'Strictly' curse is just part of the show's story, it makes me laugh.
"When you're in a dance company, romances are always flying around."
