Mel B's chauffeur reportedly saved her life.
The former Spice Girls star was forced to miss the first stage of 'The X Factor' final last night (14.12.14) after she was rushed to hospital when her driver noticed she'd collapsed in the back of the car.
A source revealed: "Mel is in a terrible state, physically and emotionally. She is very weak and she is being given treatment to help with the pain.
"But she is also very upset. She could have died on Thursday and yet one of the only people who has been by her side comforting her is the chauffeur."
The 39-year-old star - whose final act Andrea Faustini was voted off the ITV show during her absence - is said to have been tested for viruses and ulcers but husband Stephen Belafonte has been missing from his wife's bedside.
Meanwhile, although Mel is desperate to return for 'The X Factor' finale this evening (14.12.14) it's said to be very unlikely she'll be well enough to appear.
The source added to The Sun newspaper: "Nobody thinks there is the tiniest chance of her making it back.
"She is just far too fragile. Even if she was discharged from hospital today she wouldn't have the strength to appear.
"The anxiety and emotional stress she's been under are also taking their toll."

Craig Charles "blanked" his brother just days before he died.
The 'Coronation Street' actor was forced to leave the 'I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!' jungle last month after his older brother Dean suffered a fatal heart attack and he's now revealed he ignored his sibling's attempts to get in touch just days before he travelled to Australia for the show.
Craig shared: "Dean had left me a couple of text messages, before I came in, saying, 'Craig, how are you? Can we meet up?' And I'd kind of blanked him because I had too much going on.
"I thought, 'You know what? I'll leave it until I come out then I'll get in contact with him'."
However, just five days into the ITV reality show, the 50-year-old star - who has suffered with drug and alcohol addiction in the past - was given the tragic news that his brother had died and chose to fly home straight away.
He told the Daily Star newspaper: "It was an absolute shock. I spent a lot of time at the bar in business class, raising a glass to our Dean, going over old times.
"That was as low as I've been in a long time. We've all had our ups and downs in life and me maybe more publicly than most.
"I've been low but I've chipped away and worked my way out of the holes I've dug for myself."
Craig is now focusing on his music and poetry and has vowed not to take his life for granted following his brother's shock death.

Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright are too "chilled out" to fight.
The former 'Coronation Street' actress feels "lucky" to have such a good relationship with the reality star and thinks they get on so well because they have similar outlooks on life.
She said: "Everything is going well and I feel so lucky.
"And when you feel happy and content in a relationship, everything else is better.
"We rarely fight. We're so chilled out, nothing bothers us. My friends say if I was any more laid back I'd fall over and Mark the same.
"We're so similar, that's what makes us perfect for each other."
However, the brunette beauty admits the former 'The Only Way Is Essex' star does have some annoying habits.
She explained to LOOK magazine: "He does have bad habits like any man. He leaves dirty laundry in the corners of the house. It drives me crazy.
"And he never used to make the bed. I'd come home and go, 'Mark, the bed.' He does it now though. And he always takes the bins out. He's very helpful around the house."
And Michelle admitted she isn't the perfect housewife either.
She added: "I'm probably messier. I leave clothes and makeup everywhere, but never dirty plates."

Andrea Faustini has been eliminated from 'The X Factor'.
The 20-year-old Italian crooner was kicked off the ITV talent show tonight (13.12.14) after receiving the lowest amount of public votes, leaving Ben Haenow and Fleur East to fight for the crown.
Speaking after his exit, he said: "It's just incredible because I've come so far. This has been the most crazy and beautiful experience of my life. It's so unexpected and I'm so happy anyway.
"My highlight? Maybe the day I came here and I wasn't expecting anything and I came in that room and I had that reaction - it was just amazing.
"I want to say a massive thank you to my family, to all the guys who work in the production because this is just an incredible team. To the judges, and to Mel, who has been an amazing judge and friend."
The SSE Arena in Wembley, north-west London was filled with 10,000 fans who were treated to performances from Ed Sheeran, Megan Trainor and Take That.
Before his performance, Ed joined Ben, 29, on stage to sing 'Thinking Out Loud' whilst 26-year-old Fleur sang 'Beneath Your Beautiful' with Labrinth. Andrea was joined by 'X Factor' alumni, Ella Henderson, to perform her hit song 'Ghost'.
'X Factor' reject contestants including Stevi Ritchie, Chloe Jasmine, Wagner and Chico returned to perform a special version of 'Dirty Bit' by The Black Eyed Peas.
Meanwhile, Andrea's mentor, Mel B, was unable to attend the show after being struck down by a mystery illness. She was replaced by former judge, Tulisa Contostavlos.
Speaking at the beginning of the show, host Dermot O'Leary said: "Mel will be unable to join us due to illness. She's obviously absolutely gutted.
"We wish her a speedy recovery and we know she'll be watching and cheering for her boy, Andrea."
Fellow judge, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini admitted she was, too, "gutted" that the 39-year-old singer would be missing the final.
She tweeted: "Absolutely gutted Mel is not able to make it tonight after all the love and hard work she has put into getting Andrea here (sic)".
'The X Factor's winner will be crowned tomorrow night (14.12.14) at a star-studded final, which will see performances from Demi Lovato and Olly Murs, Sam Smith and boy band One Direction with a special guest from The Rolling Stones.

Mel B will miss 'The X Factor' final tonight (13.12.14) after collapsing with "extreme exhaustion".
The former Spice Girl and show judge will not be appearing on the ITV singing competition this evening after she was hospitalised on Thursday (11.12.14) and remains under round-the-clock care.
Her husband Stephen Belafonte is said to be distraught and has remained at her bedside while the couple await the 39-year-old's test results.
A source said: "She is in a bad way. Everyone is very worried. It seems impossible she will make the final. We are all just praying she comes through this."
Another insider said: "Stephen is beside himself. Mel means everything to him. Her body is in shutdown. She's been working so hard and it is extreme exhaustion."
Mel is said to be "beyond devastated" she won't be present to watch her remaining contestant Andrea Faustini battle against fellow finalists Fleur East and Ben Haenow to be crowned winner of the show and is determined to get better.
The source said: "She is beyond devastated to miss the final. It's bad times but she's going to pull through."
It is believed former judge Tulisa Contostavlos will replace Mel and take up her seat on the judging panel next to Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini this evening.
The 26-year-old singer - who starred on the show in 2011 and 2012 - has been chosen as she already "has a connection" to this year's hopefuls after aiding Louis during the judge's houses stage of the competition.
A show source told The Sun newspaper: "Tulisa has got the experience of having been a judge in the past and definitely has Mel's blessing.
"She was also involved in the show at the judges' house round so has a connection to this year's contestants."

Simon Cowell "can't watch" back the moment where One Direction came third in 'The X Factor'.
The music mogul has confessed he still can't believe the beloved boyband - made up of Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik - didn't win the talent show in 2010.
Speaking at a Q&A for the current series' final at London's Wembley Arena yesterday (11.12.14), he said: "I still can't watch the moment when One Direction came third. I was so arrogant that we were going to win ... So even though they've done well, I still would've liked for them to be able to say they won 'The X Factor'."
The 55-year-old star returned as a judge earlier this year alongside Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Mel B and Louis Walsh and revealed that while they're his dream lineup, other stars have turned down a job on the panel in the past when he's failed to meet their demands.
He explained: "[They've] not so much turned me down but, sometimes, we just won't pay them what they want. Some of the salaries are getting insane over the last couple of years."

Rita Ora's personality is "coming across" well on 'The Voice', according to Sir Tom Jones.
The 74-year-old star has revealed his new colleague has been a hit during filming for the upcoming series of the BBC One talent show after replacing Kylie Minogue on the judging panel.
Speaking at the BBC Music Awards at London's Earls Court last night (12.12.14), he said: "Rita is great, she's fresh and she's what's happening now. She fills that seat very well because I think that's the hardest seat, for a female to fill, because there are three fellas there and one girl, so she's filling it really, really great.
"Her personality is coming across. Jessie J's personality came across, Kylie Minogue's personality came across and now Rita's is coming across, so it's different because they're three different people."
The 'Delilah' hitmaker also confessed it was a no-brainer for him to return to the show for a fourth year, despite the departure of mentors including Kylie, Jessie and The Script's Danny O'Donoghue in the past.
He explained: "It feels very natural for me to do it again, it's my fourth time now and Will [will.i.am] as well, second for [Kaiser Chiefs'] Ricky [Wilson] and brand new for Rita, so it feels very natural. The more I do it the more natural it feels."
Sir Tom also revealed Rita and will.i.am have been getting on like a house on fire.
He added: "I think she talks mostly to Will because they talk a lot about music. They've worked together you see, so they have a working relationship as well."
